This man, Tim Blake Nelson, is a top notch actor, and I always enjoy watching him. Old Henry was a fantastic film, and he definitely did some great work in this one. Whether in a comedy or in a western, he never ceases to amaze.

Watched it 7 times so far..it will be more. Captured by the lifestyle of back then, the accent (i'm English) clothes of the time period and interior of the cottage. Also the sayings which were spoken. Tim did such a great job with the character of Henry McCarty and his son/brother in law. Was glad someone said it was south texas..had been looking at others. Anyway Tim's character had such an effect I'm going to paint Old Henry this coming winter. Great movie!!
Huge Western fan here and I was blown away by both this film and Tim Blake Nelson’s ability to carry this film. The ending is one for the books to be sure. Just goes to shoe you don’t need a huge budget to tell an amazing story. Hat’s off.
Instant Classic ….. Watched it 4 times and My Son loved it , And he doesn’t like Westerns but he was so impressed with this one.. Especially finding out Who Henry actually is.
This is the first time I've heard Nelson's actual voice. As a Southerner, he has the best and most natural Southern accent of any actor I've ever heard.
I mean this was the best kid movie since young guns 1! F**kin amazing! Tim, hats off to you! We needed this…I mean I still watch this over and over as I do young guns!
This movie is The Finest modern movie that I have seen. I would stack Old Henry right up there with Pale Rider or Unforgiven. Extremely well acted. Very believable characters. Outstanding Actor this guy Tim Blake Nelson. You can tell that the man worked his ass off to be Henry McCarty. Six Stars out of Five.
Its OBVIOUS why the Mainstream promoters aren't thrilled with Old Henry but to me its the best Western in decades. Its like movies in the old days where the Actors talents & abilities had to make up for the lack of video editing, CGI & specials effects. It was closer to real then some older westerns with the gun reloads & lack of super human abilities. Also the fact that Henrys past had caught up with him was a good message because most Billy the Kid movies are sensationalized but this was showing the hard reality of what your actions can cause. It showed that even though Billy The Kid may not have died physically that, mentally Billy was dead & just trying to escape his former life which was a never ending task. Even in the end when Scott Haze thought he was the one that killed Billy, it was actually Henry that he killed. Anyway this movie is criminally underrated. If they had casted a woman as Henry it would have been promoted all over the mainstream media.
Superhero movies are science fiction.. superficial garbage imo. Westerns have character, incomparable to modern day superhero films/superhero films in general.
