Hong Kong, despite being so small , has some of South China ’s most striking and valuable natural landscapes. Their scenic beauty, ecology and agricultural heritage rival far larger parts of mainland China.
Two other facets make Hong Kong a delight for countrysides lovers and hikers. Remarkably, 40 per cent of the entire land area has been set aside for conservation, recreation and tourism - in 23 Country Parks and some Marine Parks. This unique system, with its countless routes, lies very close to the city: one is never far away from natural setting and beguiling trails. Only minutes uphill from the bustle of Central or Wan Chai, visitor can stride along pathways - through subtropical forest.
