  • In this episode of Garden in the Sky, we learn about how Kadoorie Farm is protecting and restoring Hong Kong's biodiversity. We get an up close view of the endangered Aquilaria tree, a resin-rich tree has been used for making incense many years, with its smoke believing to carry the prayers of the faithful up to the Gods. Because of this, these trees are becoming increasingly rare due to over harvesting, with some of them on the protected slopes of Kadoorie Farm. We see what other species of trees including the Aquilaria the Kadoorie Farm protects, as well as their unique approaches for gathering seeds and growing young trees to keep foster biodiversity.

Narrated by David Attenborough, Garden in the Sky shows the contrast between the densely populated Hong Kong we are familiar with and uncovers a more sustainable, tranquil and stress free way of living just outside the bustling city. This 6-part series takes us through The Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden. Created in 1956, what was once a barren hillside is now a green oasis with a focus for sustainable living, holistic education and nature conservation, harmonising our relationship with our environment and Less than an hours drive from Hong Kong’s waterfront.

A breathtaking panorama, but can't escape from human exploitation. Sad. There're alternatives. Advanced technology could come to their rescue. In parallel, mentality of the pubic consumers must be changed. Consciousness must be promoted. Tremendous effort by those scientists should be rewarded in the long run. That's a precious investment for brighter future. Can't help hoping great success! A video like this is only for Sir Attenborough. Eventually, beauty of the forest & young generations' participation in the conservation program make it heartwarming & encouraging. Great!!

i hope someone is taking seed & cuttings from the Amazon forests Maybe one day plant them in OZ nothing in the middle there could use a touch up with a rain forest .
use Artisan basin bore water below to keep them growing be worth every penny spent
then bring near extinction species and let them grow there be a cool tourist site after 10 20 years when grown an idea that rows my boat
i dream / wish i was rich and owned the govt :) it would be done by now throw in a box squirrels some apes etc bingo away we go . giddy up

Complete selfishness. Don’t you care about future generations? The workers are trying so hard and you just destroy. Thank you for all you do replanting trees and educating the younger generations
