Despite what influencers and socialist think, there are a lot of adults like this. The problem is that 90% of the students or kids refuse their help out of their own hubris. It’s not a matter of looking for kindness, the problem is people not accepting it or seeing kindness as a cancer or insult.
That was my first thought too. People will be like "its just a show" but nah there are emotionally and mentally unstable people out there who will do this exact thing and worse.

Sometimes you just need to be told the hard truth. Even then it doesn't always work. I once said to a Year 10 lad that if he spoke to an adult outside school the way he spoke to teachers he'd end up getting his face punched in. I was told I shouldn't speak to pupils like that. Next September he was late back into school after the holidays because he was in hospital. Somebody had punched his face in. I was right not the people who wanted to avoid telling him things that weren't comforting.

Family courts won’t care or know what you are talking about. Forced visitation for all kids from birth, no matter what mothers went through. All this is based on research saying, that fathers CAN be important for kids’ identity. Yes, fathers CAN a whole lot, but the question is, will they be harmful to their own child? The answer is: Yes, if they are malignant narcissists they will be harmful especially to their own child!
In reality, they'd watch it happen and laugh and do nothing about it. My teachers witnessed me getting beaten black and blue from my father but never did anything to support me. They sent me home every night knowing I'll get beaten more
Yep. I know someone who’s trying to get her kids back from her abusive ex-husband. The school banned him from entering the school because he was violent, he was caught putting trackers in the kids’ lunchbox, and the 6 year old(!) tried to end his own life at the school. The school told the courts about all of this, and the courts are still refusing to take the kids from the father while keeping the kids away from their mother. This all happened in Scotland, by the way. Apparently “Scottish laws are different.” If that’s true, Scottish laws are inhumane.
Teacher here. I very much doubt that any teacher or school staff would laugh about any of this. We do try our best to help the kids as much as we can, but people don't realize how LIMITED we are to do so. At the end of the day, the parents have more rights than us over their kids (and rightfully so). When we see that something is wrong, all we can do is follow the law. And that takes time, sadly. In most cases, we can't just prevent the parents to have access to their kids. But there are exceptions. A few years ago, we had two boys in school whose mother was prohibited by law to have contact with them. She couldn't talk to them either. But, as a parent, she was still entitled to be kept informed about their school progress. Si she tried several times to use that to get access to them. We didn't let her, of course. But that is a very rare situation. If I see a kid with bruises, for example, I first talk to the kid and send him to the nurse. And then talk to the school psychiatrist. But bruises can mean many things. And those abusive parents rarely act like the one in this clip. They do it behind closed doors. And the kid is threatened. So half the fight is getting the kid to tell on his parent... Truth be told, there have been several times in my career when I saw something wrong and was unable to do anything. It's heartbreaking...
@ My mum was a teaching support assistant. A kid was talking about how they got beaten at home, and my mum of course told the headmaster about it. The headmaster laughed and said, “kids say the darndest things.” Some people choose a position where they’re in charge of a group of vulnerable people, in order to get a false sense of power.
@@xTwilightWolvesx If that is true, then that principal is a piece of poo. Nevertheless, people like that are in a minority in schools. But they do exist, sadly...
It's plotlines like this where I wish characters like Ronan Burley or Paul Langley returned to the show as adults, since they also suffered abuse from their parent/parental figure. I don't know how they would be involved with the school since teaching positions aren't really their thing, but if the writers found a way to work them into the story, it would give Schuey a figure who understands what they're going through, and it'll give the viewers a familiar face who we can look at and say: "Wow, look at how much they've matured." The Waterloo Road revival truly has the potential to show us some truly brilliant growth and redemption arcs for older characters, but they've only really done it with Donte so far.
I haven't watched the show or know the characters, but they could come in and give a speech about their experiences and about how getting help was a good thing.
