When I talked to the Pro desk at Lowes they said that with the ribbing on the bottom it would weaken the board to screw down into it like that. Does Trex actually manufacture and recommend this?
We just completed our deck. The boards we used were solid not ribbed. You see the groove in the middle of the board and this fits a special screw that holds two boards down and is screwed into the center of the joists - evenly spaced with a small gap. This way the boards can 'float' to expand or contract, as composite does so more than wood. In the end there are no visible screws on the top of the deck. For the outer, or 'picture frame' boards and steps, that is where we would use the screws shown in this video. We did not use Lowe's or Home Depot for our decking. We went to a specialty outlet as I wasn't quite comfortable with the level of knowledge of Lowes or Home Depot. Those folks nailed it down to the board. The fascia we used also came with a kit and had a countersunk screw drill driver. The screws matched the color of the fascia.
Great video! Nice demonstration!
Any tips on what to do when screws dont go all the way in
i have the same problem and can't find any tricks on the web or Trex website
I used it, why am I getting mushrooming? please help.
Will this screw plug system work on the Trex fascia which is 3/4" thickness or just on the decking which is 5/4?
Just on the Transcend deck boards Robert although there is a pro plug facia system being released at some point his year.
