Cool. A new version of a classic old pedal. I never owned this one - I had the standard Boss CE-2, but I have played through the original Dimension C and remember it was a truly unique sound at the time.
Excellent, excellent demo. I have one of these, I leave in the chain at all times - guitar sounds naked without it. 🎸 Don’t use many FX but I run 2 Marshall heads into two cabs that run in stereo. Try & Stay healthy out there everyone !
Oh man! Making an SDD-320 mode on this is such a great idea! That rack unit's chorus sound is basically my dream chorus sound, so I'm super excited to see that in a analog pedal format.
i dont know for sure, i think (i heard) part of the circuitry is digital cause for the sdd circuitry wouldn't fit the case, but for sure the dc part is analog. But take it with a grain of salt, it MAY be all analog...and it's what boss claims
ok, my bad...I think I misunderstood Rabea's video...it is just that on the sdd-320 part is not the original complete circuit for the (obvios) previously said reason (it wouldn't fit) and that it wouldng go well having all that in the pedal
WOW!! I had NO CLUE that this pedal had sooo many cool tones, always thought this pedal was sort of derivative of their Chorus (which IS amazing too) and never realized how much of its own thing it had going on---really cool and as always, Pete is the player I want to see demoing a pedal cause I know that as a viewer I will see everything the pedal has to offer, that's just a fact.
Pete, I immediately bought this pedal based on your review. I loved the clean sounds, but as soon as you played Rush it was all over for me! I've been trying to get this tone for years. I plugged the pedal in and immediately got it!!!Great review thanx from one Pete to another.
This is the first modulation pedal that I think actually makes me sound better. A major achievement lol . The SDD-320 side with button 4 is my current fav. . Superb with high gain too. Adds a secret sauce that is super satisfying adds space and a super subtle second voice that does not detract in any way from your base tones .. hi fi , Stereo is nuts lol seriously fantastic pedal .
After watching three demos by guitarists who refused to play with any sort of real overdrive (as is typical of most FX demos), I found this video FAR more useful. Thank you.
For a while now I’ve been debating on getting this pedal. But I couldn’t find a video that did it justice enough to make me get it.Until now!! 3yrs after this aired I’m just now seeing this, and u totally did it justice. This is exactly what I wanted it for. Thank u soooo much. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
The best demo for this pedal, you really need to listen to modulations with distortion, because most of them will sound nice clean, but not so much with dirt. Rush sounded spot on here
Loved the Steve Stevens homage at the beginning and of course that fat Limelight tone. Roland/Boss really do make great effects and they're mostly affordable for the common musician too.
Did he get Alex Lifeson to play into Pete's looper? lol. Spot "ON" tones & playing.........Never knew about Roland/ Boss studio grade rackmount gear.....Interesting for sure......."Flesh for Fantasy" was stellar............Thanks
Just a follow up to my previous post. This pedal exceeded my expectations. Running my acoustic electric Composite Acoustic thru it to a Bose Tower system. I got it set on 2 and the slider switch to the left on S. It sounds as good as the Boss Chorus pedal I had in the 80’s. I looked at all the new Boss Chorus pedals before I bought this one. It does not disappoint whatever level of chorus you’re going for.
The most spot version of Flesh- I was listening without watching and could not tell the difference between you and Steve- insane! Pedal sounds great!!!
Excellent demo. This is how a proper demo should be done: No wasted time, good recommendations for both dirt and clean channels, combined tones, etc. A+ video!
I used to have one of those originals waaaaay back. Sold it when I went to a rack system... amazed at the prices they fetch for a pedal with so few controls. This one has a few more tricks. Really does sound great!!
That demo was ridiculous. I bet that alone will sell a good number of these. This really stands out from the other demos I've seen for this pedal this week.
Ahhhh Thats Hot Pete. Playing your buddy's licks. I honestly believe that Steve Stevens ( Flesh for Fantasy ) is one of the Greatest Guitar Tracks of All Time. The valley's and peaks when Steve goes from that Crystal Chorus to that Dual Rectifier Distortion of Doom. You and Steve Motivate me so much.
Michael Caz I was just looking for that tune but didn’t remember the name. What a pleasant surprise when Pete covered it on this video , and now I know the tune’s name. Last time I’ve heard it was more than 25 years ago.
That particular Guitar Track - Always stood out for me, because of the Variety of Sounds and textures that Steve Stevens played on that song. Even the tonality of the clean vs. the distortion. Epic. If you want to hear the broad-range of Steve Stevens listen to these 2 tracks: Cinecitta and Letter to a Memory. Goes from Flamenco to Heavy Rock.
Great explanation , remarkable musical recommendations, not too long video and awesome musical real songs demos, no wonder why this is the best TH-cam channel for gear content!!
I’ve been looking at this pedal and I’ve tried it in store and it’s awesome! I’ve been on the fence a bit, but the tid bit about srv was a surprise but makes total sense. That’s what convinced me to pull the trigger. Great video. Thanks
1/28/2021, I purchased and just received my Boss DC 2W based a lot on this Pete Thorn Video demo. It IS everything and more for what I wanted and expected. Peter always brings the Best out of anything he demos! I am a huge Chorus fan and this pedal is so much more, as he explains, then a Chorus pedal by far. I was surprised by how it reacted to dirt too. I’m going to hook up my rig in stereo today to see what it will do, should be fun...By The Way this being my first Boss pedal I was very impressed with the build quality and shear weight of it. It’s Built like a Tank...
I was searching trying to find how Steve Stevens creates the tone for Flesh and someone mentioned a Rockman and a Dimension D. Considering it's unlikely I can actually purchase an original Rockman I searched you tube for the Dimension, found this video and low and behold here you are playing the exact song! Wow! Thanks for this vid! Update: I got this pedal and love it. Play it mostly with a Reverend Descent. The baritone with chorus and a little shaken tremo and I’m in Robert Smith territory.
Today I bought a mxr analog chorus but after I watched this video immediately i went back to the shop and changed it with this nice chorus pedal its more expensive but it absolutely worth it
I just dug into my box of goodies and nailed that sound with a flanger/chorus and a phaser. Because each has it's own settings the tones you can create are endless.
I was just thinking that the stereo outs into two different amps separated with some distance would also enhance this "doubling" effect! Woohoo as always Pete, excellent work nice video!!!!!!
That is really cool you mentioned SRV using this. I read an obscure interview he did once where he mentioned using a chorus to “fatten” up his tone occasionally, but never really heard it. Thanks for mentioning it. I never heard of it after and that was probably 25 years ago.
This is IT! This is how we used to get those gorgeous tones and landscapes "back in the day". I feel like Indiana Jones now finding the grail. Finally.
Thanks for your video I really made my mind, I was looking for a chorus effect pedal and and was getting crazy with options , I knew Boss was never gonna let me down , I really love the sound thank you again
FINALLY someone did FLESH! That is THE demo for this pedal.
And played it beautifully. Nice touch!
Purple Rain? But, yeah! Love Flesh for Fantasy!
Flesh!

Do you like good music?
Do you like to dance?
The "Flesh For Fantasy" tone was pretty spot on!!!!!
Perfect
Initially, I thought he was doing a Jamie West-Oram pastiche.
The unbeatable Dimension C - the only non-seasick chorus. Nothing beats this.
Man, Pete just never fails to deliver the top notch goods. What a killer demo. The Flesh for Fantasy thing was a perfect demo for this pedal.
As soon as I heard Billy Idol's Flesh for Fantasy my hair stood up on end. The tone sounded perfect.
Was being lulled to a comfortable cozy place, then you woke me up with the Limelight riff!
Agreed.
No surprise to me. That cozy comfortable place was drawing from Rush's No One at the Bridge.
My favorite Rush song.
Now I'm gonna go listen to Billy Idol and RUSH !!!
Limelight 🐶🎵❤️❤️❤️❤️
I came here for the Dimension Pedal Demo, but you Guitar Skills are REAL... so musical, so filled with life.
Damn, Pete regularly does the best demo's on TH-cam!
The Limelight tone was perfect too, dude youre amazing
Cool. A new version of a classic old pedal. I never owned this one - I had the standard Boss CE-2, but I have played through the original Dimension C and remember it was a truly unique sound at the time.

This is going to be a huge seller for Boss
Best chorus pedal demo I've heard by far. Never really thought about "playing" a chorus pedal the way you can play an overdrive, but you did it.
That Flesh for Fantasy was dope. One of my favorite Stevens licks.
Oh man! Making an SDD-320 mode on this is such a great idea! That rack unit's chorus sound is basically my dream chorus sound, so I'm super excited to see that in a analog pedal format.
yet it seems they did it digital, cause it wouldn''t fit in the box
Oh, I must have missed that. So it's a digital simulation with no BBD chips?
i dont know for sure, i think (i heard) part of the circuitry is digital cause for the sdd circuitry wouldn't fit the case, but for sure the dc part is analog.
But take it with a grain of salt, it MAY be all analog...and it's what boss claims

Limelight.
LOVE when you pull out the Rush stuff.
You're a great player Pete, but it truly shines to an even greater degree in when you play clean tones.
Best demo of this pedal I’ve ever heard
Pete, I immediately bought this pedal based on your review. I loved the clean sounds, but as soon as you played Rush it was all over for me! I've been trying to get this tone for years. I plugged the pedal in and immediately got it!!!Great review thanx from one Pete to another.

This is a classy pedal. It stacks lovely with drive, and even with other modulation pedals. You'll forget it's on. Until it's off🌴

I can't believe that this pedal has eluded me. Thanks for the demo 🙏
Yes! I was hoping Boss would send you one to demo. Now I want it even more after watching you use it.
After watching three demos by guitarists who refused to play with any sort of real overdrive (as is typical of most FX demos), I found this video FAR more useful. Thank you.

that arrangement is wicked!!! Close my eyes and takes me back to the 80's!!!!
After watching this video a good 10 or so times over the last 6 months I've finally bought one
Dude... I already loved your demos but in my search for a new chorus you did Limeight! Amazing
Best sense of time in any guitar player I have ever heard. Amazing playing. Oh, and the pedal sounds great, too!
WoW! finally someone playing a song that fits the pedal! Billy idol- fresh for fantasy, well played and a great showcase for this pedal.
a 5 STAR job buddy !! one of the best no frills..excessive talk mumbo-jumbo stuff. REALLY appreciated this. AWESOME dude !!
I still truly dig the sounds of this effect thanks Pete thorn.
Loved the Steve Stevens homage at the beginning and of course that fat Limelight tone. Roland/Boss really do make great effects and they're mostly affordable for the common musician too.
Sounds like Belew era King Crimson, incredible sound. Great demo as usual
Did he get Alex Lifeson to play into Pete's looper? lol. Spot "ON" tones & playing.........Never knew about Roland/

0:33 - 1:43 ... the genius of Steve Stevens
honestly ... your one of the best guitarists on youtube. thanks
Thank u!
OMG It was about time, BTW the Dimension D was intensely used by Andy Summers at some time in the Police too, great demo as usual, thanks
Oh yeah !! The video as a whole is awesome. " Flesh" was killer !!
Settings 3&4 is a perfect blend.
Man “Flesh” was awesome! Very interesting about SRV too.
thanks for the demo, you always do a great job!
Pete Thorn, you're the coolest dude ever.
“Living on a lighted stage……”!!!!!! Excellent video and showing of the sounds. I love this pedal

Sounds beautiful and elegant. Pete you really rock.
oh, man... flesh for fantasy!! what a great track... thanks for the excellent demo!
Finally, a great demo of a pedal I really didn't get when I first tried it. Didn't know you could hit 2 buttons together. Lol.
What a combination, Pete Thorn and one of the finest pedals in the world, I can recall first hearing the dd and this matches if not surpasses it.
Flesh for Fantasy. I always liked that tune!

This will look nice next to my new H9. That Suhr sounds epic. Those riffs took me back to the 80's. Epic Pete!
Flesh for Fantasy sounds awesome. Definitely listen to this through headphones!
I need this pedal to set me apart even more from all of the other Guitarists around here 😎
Man... I'm back in the 80's. Flashback me with that chorus.
You gotta be kidding me...is there anything musical you can't adapt to....damn Pete, you are the man.
You definitely nailed that Limelight tone! If it's good for SRV, it's good for everybody!
What´s supposed to be a review video turn out to be a great permormance by Pete, great playing, excellent sounding, super cool!
Doing Steve Stevens proud! Generally not a big stomp-box guy, but that's a pretty nice little piece.
It’s demos like this that are so informative and it’s like we’re just hanging out playing with some pedals. I’m sold on this one - Thanks Pete!
Hey Pete, I love that nod to Steve Stephens. I know you guys are pals too.

What a great musician Pete Thorn is.
Hey thanks for watching and listening! :)
God DAMN, bro! You are nothing if not versatile as a player. Nice phrasing through the switches. As always, great vid!

Limelight by Rush is the perfect pushed OD sound to demo this pedal, amazing
Wow. I think I just entered into a whole new dimension after listening. Thanks for sharing!
Dude your playing is so on point, too precise!
this is the ultimate 80's pedal, loved this demo so much!
Not a demo of a guitar pedal, but a nice guitar jam and a presentation of a performer's mastery)
Best 80's cop movie soundtrack I've ever heard.

Flesh for fantasy!! The best demo Pete thanks! Steve Stevens the best.
Good Lord take me back to the 80s. Great job!!!!
Thank you so much Sir Pete...you playing is always top notch! That BOSS pedal is the cleanest chorus ever...rock on bro!
Pete Thorn is my favourite. Always loved your videos. Can you please make a comparison video on Boss Dimension c dc 2w vs TC Electronic 3rd Dimension?
Your performance of Limelight made me smile
