I like that there are different versions of this because this didn't happen in Ozpin's lifetime. The faunus were already around and being kept in cages the first time Ozpin was reincarnated .

Considering the fact that many fables turn out to be true in this series and franchise, it's like to be true, but that still doesn't excuse how pretentious and hypocritical that people conveniently forget that the animals themselves are shown to have a narrow mindset too! Yes the humans are indeed in the wrong for assuming the worst of animals, but so too are the Animals because they assume the worst in humans! Also how convenient that we see humans so clearly being persecutive of the newly formed Faunus for being part animal! What about the Animals, huh?! Did they do the opposite and start accepting the Faunus because they're may have humanoid but at least they have animal traits?! No! We don't even see how other animals view Faunus or their relations to the species! How do we know they don't view and treat the Faunus negatively as do the humans, huh?!

I like what Ozpin says at the end, about the fantastical nature of the story, and how it reflects real events. Even the wildest of fables are based in fact. Whether it’s due to misunderstanding or wild interpretation, every myth and legend is, at least in part, based in fact and truth. They provide a mirror to our reality, in order for us to understand our actions

The "Shallow Sea" and the "Judgement of Faunus" have two different versions of the God of Animals.

The god’s are fallible and not always the wisest. The God of Light cursed Salem with immortality in hopes she would learn the value between life and death when it just made her vengeful towards the gods. Even after the God of Darkness destroyed all other humans, the God of Light still kept Salem immortal even though it should’ve been obvious that his idea of teaching her a lesson wasn’t working. So he just left a broken woman behind when he should’ve just ended her. Even though he wanted to give humanity another chance, he still left an immortal Grimm woman around to wreak havoc. Sure he gave Ozma the ability to reincarnate after death so he could stand up to her. But if both were immortal, it would result in a never ending war between the two. So yeah the gods may not be truly evil, but they can’t sympathize or truly understand human emotion.
