- Last night the Indiana Fever were eliminated from the WNBA Playoffs, losing to the Connecticut Sun, and ending Caitlin Clark's rookie season. During the post game press conference, Alyssa Thomas called out toxic Fever Fans and claimed the WNBA needs to "do something about it." Today we reflect on Caitlin Clark's rookie season, and how the WNBA was riddled with drama, jealousy, and pettiness. Are the WNBA and it's players happy that Caitlin Clark is done for the year!? You knew it was going to be bad when one of the more prominent faces of the League, Sheryl Swoopes, before the season even started, went out of her way to denigrate Caitlin Clark's accomplishments in her college career. When she was called out for it, rather than apologize publicly for the very obvious disrespect, she played the victim, claiming she was attacked online. She somehow thought publishing a private chat conversation was enough. It wasn't.

After Caitlin Clark was poked in the eye by long fake nails, the WNBA should have come out with a rule that made these women cut those Nails I've always thought it was ridiculous that they were allowed to have claws on the basketball court. Do people not realize that Caitlin’s mental health has also been affected this season. She has also been sent awful things and told horrible things, but she chooses not to blast it on social media. She is 22, just left college, and is figuring out the world most 22-year-olds aren’t expected to solve racism and misogyny in a league that has been around for years prior, not to mention she has always praised those who came before her and never has thought of herself as a savior or gods gift to basketball.
This is not Caitlin’s issue to solve. She tells people a million times to stop, but she can’t control if they listen to it or not. Fans will be fans no matter how many things you tell them. It’s been this way in men’s sports for years and even worse for them, and again, no matter how many times it’s been told to stop, it never does. Bigger celebrities, with no fallback back, never spoke on this issue either because how is a single person gonna solve a 400-year problem??

She didn't talk about any other player and put her mind and heart into playing her basketball. She is the most complete player in the WNBA or any other category in female basketball.

Next season 8 and a half months away. It's the longest off-season in history but this league better fix a lot of s*** or I won't be back in a lot of people like me won't be back. I and others stop watching the games after the Chicago catastrophe where b****** try to severely injured Kate went on different occasions. I check the highlights I watch TH-cam and ESPN but I can't support this league anymore. Absolutely correct, thanks for being a voice for truth and fairness. There are great fans on all sides. Trolls can pose as any fan to cause friction and hate. CC fans, like other team's fans are mostly good people. I think what CC / Fever fans wanted to see early on, were more players, (and the league and refs for that matter) being more accepting to CC. She's an amazing person, and most fans see that. If other players would have hugged her and thanked her and accept her for what she is, we all would have accepted them and paid way more attention, positive attention to them and the league. That is what I don't think the league and others understand about CC's fans, I believe they are great people, and they are being labeled as something they are not. We all should want womens sport to flourish, that is certainly what Caitlin's fans, and ALL fans of women's sports, ultimately want.

Actually, I’m so glad the season is over. The witness I have see in WNBA….bullying, racism, biased, hate, and drama. They treated CC like a most wanted list. Unreal. They use CC like a punching bag. It’s actually a miracle for CC made it out with no injury. The commissioner needs grow a set of steel balls to control those or else, the WNBA will go tank near future. Other than that, CC is the best rookie year we ever witnessed.

I've been a WNBA season pass holder for the past few seasons, so I'm not a new fan. But I am a disillusioned fan. and I don't plan to watch anymore this year. The pettiness and brutality this year has tarnished the product. I went to UConn, and just hoping they clean it up before Paige enters; they need better refs too.

Oh, Paige does not draw as enormous a fan base as Clark, so she'll be alright. It is ok for pretty, white, heterosexual girls to play in the WNBA. Either Clark has to go, or they have to go. I really think it comes to that. I played basketball in both high school and college, so I know very well the game of basketball. Until Catlin Clark joined the WNBA, I had never watched a WNBA game before 😢, and even now the only games I watch, are the ones with Clarke and the Fever. She is one of the best basketball players, men or women, that I have ever had the pleasure to watch play, and as young as she is, she hasn't even yet reached her full potential yet. And the only reason t😢the other players player's give her such a hard time is, they wish that it was them, instead of her.

I was excited to follow CC into the WNBA and was ready to follow other players and teams. The way she has been treated by the league and the media has made me only watch her and the Fever. A golden opportunity to grow the league was lost because she wasn't embraced and appreciated.

C.C. is finished for the season I will pick back up next season. Hope the WNBA leans from their mistakes from a league marketing perspective and they handle the jealousy that a lot of the players seemed to have had this season. But haters are going to hate. New fans to the league watched Caitlin get dismissed by WNBA media and headhunted by other players all year, and it pissed them off. Fully agree! Hateful messages have no place, but they are not from just one organization. Hard to believe some are not seeing the Fever fan base as an opportunity for all.
The new fans drawn to the WNBA because of CC became glued to her when vets and pundits started to rubbish her. They saw a talented young woman being attacked for no reason and felt the need to defend her. And CC has shown her professionalism by raising above the nay sayers and not engaging when quite frankly she had every right too.
They keep saying Fever fans but have shown no proof other than their say-so and also failing to mention the garbage coming out of Sky fans or Sun fans or any other team fans. Some people felt the abusive fouls Caitlin received through the season had a racial tinge to it and so some decided to make stupid remarks on social media. The WNBA thugs did not do themselves any favors by pounding Caitlin with non-basketball fouls or fake OOPS SORRY fouls. I'm not justifying what you are going through but consider your small part in it. People want to watch basketball not an MMA match,

And part of the problem for the WNBA in their refusal to address this real problem with calling fouls for the fever, making it even harder on this newly composed team, is that the fans like me are building up a resentment of the whole WNBA and aren't willing to look at any other teams. We are constantly as fans in a defensive position at the systemic unfairness of the WNBA against the fever. It's hard to be magnanimous when your team is getting pummeled by refs and organization
