I might also add Guts from Berserk. Just opening with "... and I fought alongside my abusive, adoptive father in battle as a child soldier." "Wow... that's terrible." "That was one of the only high points in my life... I haven't even gotten to the sad part yet..."
What I like about Guts is that he's become incredibly good at working through his issues as the story went along.
@@MeravUly Exactly. How to help a man who is probably better at dealing what they are dealing with than you could ever hope to be? Like.... you know some of the impulses are *wrong* but you also know they are *justified*. At the same time you see that he's capable of all of the things he needs to do in order to heal, and he is actively *trying* to do those things but reality makes that incredibly challenging. As the nail in the coffin, it is ultimately unclear, even knowing all we know as readers (let alone what you'd learn as a therapist), what would actually be the best outcome for Guts. And we all know his ultimate fate...
Great video, imo the best types of character analyses are ones that view things through a psychological lens, and you even have an interest in the writing itself which only helps you think about things at an even deeper level.
Personally I’d love to see you talk about the characters in the game What Remains of Edith Finch. It’s a very short game (I say game but it’s really more of a story, very minimal gameplay so no chance of backseating lol), only about 3 hours total. The themes within it are told in such a unique and captivating way, which is why even tho you definitely would have a lot to say about the psychological elements, I believe you would also really appreciate the storytelling itself. I’d go into more detail but idk how much you would consider a spoiler… but I will promise there are no politics in it, so no need to worry about that. Would love it if you could stream it, even just causally 💜
That is actually the next game that I want to do on stream, also for many of the reasons you mentioned 😅
@@eurobrady ayyy that’s great! Yeah I have seen it recommended on your channel a few times before, I do think it would be perfect for you. It’s not only very enjoyable to get people’s first impressions, but it’s the kind of story that greatly rewards you from reflecting on it after the fact as well. Looking forward to you playing it 😊
One of my favorite manga series' is Oyasumi Punpun. I think you'd find a treasure trove of interesting characters to analyze there.
Now playing in my head: "Dat boy needs therapy" 🎵 - ( for the curious: watch?v=qLrnkK2YEcE )
yassss ripley best of the 3 love alien :)
Speaking of Ripley, Sarah Connor from Terminator?
I feel like her journey has some similarities with Ripley, but also some interesting key differences, especially with her son and his father.
How would you approach therapy with Disco Elysium’s Protagonst? (This could be before or after his memory loss)
If you ever happened to watch or read Monster, I'd really love to hear your take on the character of Grimmer. There's plenty of other interesting characters there, and so much to say about them from a psychological point of view, but I'd love to hear what you think about his specific struggles.
So, the endgoal with Batman's therapy isto make Batman and Bruce became one person, and as the process, stopping the vigilante actives?
No, just to give him a space to talk about all of it and work some things out.
Imagine having therapy with the guy from Vinland Saga...
Bowser. Imagine the crazy shit he'd talk about.
I'm on board with everything except the thumbnail message.
These fictional characters are beating through their fictional lives as role models of strength, stoicism, courage and anti-helicopter parents, just fine
No way u mispronouced kratos (cray-toes) as (Craw-toss)
to be fair in greek wich is the cannon language of Kratos is pronounced Krah-Tōs
He pronounced it closer to how it sounds originally
who gives a fuck about that
