Hi... I'm 54, soon turn 55. Saxon is the first band I saw at big venue in Bengium. Discovered them in 1983, saw them 3 times... Big big respect for all the stuff, they remain kings after all those years.
The new Maiden album was so meh and drawn out. Accept, Helloween, Running Wild, U.D.O., Rage (those are all German bands as well) as well as K.K's Priest all released much better albums.

I thought it was a very solid and strong album with a much heavier sound than previous efforts but I must state that it is not much like their 80's and 90's output that was more power and speed metal orientated. That's me giving you a heads up on it. Blazon Stone have encompassed those stylistic elements much more than Running Wild have that they sound more like Running Wild than well...Running Wild. I would give the new Running Wild album a listen but from my listening, it is very much for hardcore fans only (by that I mean that they would still appreciate it)
I think the reason why Biff still have amazing voice is that he isn´t pushing his voice beyond his natural limits! Many vocalist trying too hard to sing over their limits and put a huge strain for their vocal cords! Biff just singing easily those notes and not pushing or trying too hard! He just have natural talent!

Paul Quinn's guitar solo, as effortless as it was for him, is as good a guitar solo as you'll hear from any other band. He is a master of his instrument.
Damn this sounds more like early Saxon than their previous releases, raw, punchy, straight to the point, no overly formulaic song structures, just old school Heavy Metal.
Have been a Saxon fan for more than 40 years and how the hell they are getting better and heavier is amazing , Nibs and Dougie added their class to the three amigos and we ended up with the best rock band in the world ,,,the mighty SAXON......

I found Saxon in 2007. The name was familiar before that, but just never had heard them or anything. Then in the spring of 2007 I went to a local record store, the guy who ran it knew what kind of music I was into and put Inner Sanctum on stereos, while I was scrolling through some albums. Shortly after I had to ask what he was playing, and found out it was Saxon. Mind was blown and been a fan ever since. Seen them live a couple of times, one of the best gigs I've ever been was that 2009 Wacken gig, when they did the internet poll where you could vote what songs they'd play. Saxon just makes me move unlike any other band. Love the sound and they just keep getting better over the years it seems. Hopefully they come to Finland on this upcoming tour!
2007 was the year i discovered Saxon in a record store too! I think Power and the Glory was a record they were playing and it just blew me away, over the next decade i collected their entire discography and have been a huge fan ever since!
Janne: Isn't it cool when you discover a band, later on in their career with such a great catalogue of music to choose from? Your story has many of the same aspects as mine, with the exception that I was a casual fan of them in the 80's. I lost track of them in the late 80's, but rediscovered them in the late 90's with Unleash The Beast and Circle Of Light on a compilation CD. That, and their Eagle Has Landed II live album led me on a frantic search for their whole 90's catalogue. I've been a super fan since '98 and seen them every time they've toured since 2011. Maiden was my first real favorite metal band since Number Of The Beast came out when I was 14, then Priest became my favorite a few years later as they kept with 3 to 4 minute songs vs. Maiden's mostly REALLY long songs. However, Saxon is by far my favorite now as they have so many great, consistent releases. Priest's have been kind of mediocre (in my opinion) since Halford came back. Glad to see someone as excited about the band as I am! Greetings from Canada! BTW, check out Halford's first solo album Halford - Resurrection. I had an "eargasm" when I listened to the first 3 songs at the local music store, and then raced home to listen to the rest! It's the "best Priest album Priest never made" LOL!
@@briansauer6695 Hey! Yeah Saxon sure has a lot of material to choose on when you listen to your daily dose :) Sometimes when you find a band, you just have to get their full catalogue! I have many of their albums both on vinyl and cd, and if there's some special editions of an album, have a few of those too :) Like you said, they have consistent releases, so I had no issues pre-purchasing the box set for the new album, even though I doesn't release until February. I know I will get my moneys worth! But I also listen to a lot of other bands, of course. I'm very familiar with Halfords solo material, they're actually just now re-releasing Resurrection on vinyl and I pre-purchased it earlier this month :) It's one of my favorite albums for sure!

Never sold out, they went glam metal for a while in the 80's. I like the glam metal sound but let's not kid our self's here Saxon only went glam metal to try and sell more records as that is what was really popular in the metal world at the time.

Well within their style and good album overall. I haven't actually listened Crusader... Just have missed it out for whatever reason... Solid ball of Rock is brilliant album and pretty much have gone through their catalog from there aside couple of more recent albums.

From this title track, the new album is shaping up to be the third (THIRD!!!!!) album in a row that bangs (Battering Ram and Thunderbolt before this are unlike anything else they've made, it's amazing that I've only been listening to this band for like a few months and they dont have a SINGLE weak album!)

We are in a golden age of Saxon, I swear. From this title track, the new album is shaping up to be the third (THIRD!!!!!) album in a row that bangs (Battering Ram and Thunderbolt before this are unlike anything else they've made, it's amazing that I've only been listening to this band for like a few months and they dont have a SINGLE weak album!)
I would add Sacrifice to that list. Still my fav from the modern era of Saxon, and the other albums are also godlike bangers
