The track is about the enigmatic events surrounding the 1947 crash of an assumed Army weather balloon in Roswell New Mexico, referred to as ‘The Roswell incident’. “It’s such a great story. It’s been around for years and years, and it’s just what the song says: there must be something in Roswell because there’s too much hoorah about it still”, lead singer and founder-member Biff Byford explains. “I like the tune as well, I think it harks back to ‘80s Saxon musically, a really good bridge between the classic ‘Dallas 1 PM’ era and ‘Saxon 2023.’”
Hell, Fire And Damnation is a superlative British Heavy Metal classic. Biff delivers his richest vocals in years, Nigel Glockler and Nibbs Carter on drums and bass respectively lay down the rhythmic law with bombastic power, and the guitars of Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler are fresh and fiery, a perfect complement to each other, carrying an overall energy and fury which will have fans salivating.

My favorite band since the late 90's when I rediscovered them! Was a fan in the 80's but thought they disappeared. Them I found The Eagle Has Landed II, with a lot of their newer material on it, including the song to be played at my funeral, "Forever Free". It caused me to search out all the releases up to that point and I just got more and more excited every time I found a new one! Then, I got to the point where all I could do was wait for new releases, which they aren't long in producing! Long Live Saxon!

I am 65 now and listen to Saxon since their second record Wheels of Steel and saw them the first time live in 1981 on tour in Germany with Ozzy in Hamburg. Saxon ist my all time absolutely favorite Heavy Metal Band. SAXON forever🎸🤘🤘🤘

Biff is an indestructible force in Rock and Roll. Formed in 1975, Saxon were really the forefathers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and this outing proves they haven't lost a thing.

A yank that always felt the same way, after the first Eagle album the record Co made them a little pop, then about 20 years ago starting with The Beast, everything after has been fucking leaden! Heavy as fuck but still retaining the early spirit. With them from Wheels and stoped buying everything in 2010 ( I’m 67) but always listening. Saw them in NYC on the Strong Arm tour….. magic! Princess still gives me goose bumps!!!

The first heavy metal band I ever saw was Heavy Pettin followed by Saxon opening for Crue at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.
Saxon does not disappoint.

This is the best Saxon I've heard in ages.Whilst I don't think there's auch a thing as a bad Saxon song some are better than others. This takes me back to 1980 , yes IMHO it's as good as the early days.

I bought Denim & Leather in 1984 when I was 14, and I've been a fan ever since. I saw them live in Milwaukee in April of 2018, and they rocked! Biff still has a great voice, and they just keep delivering great Heavy Metal!

I was in Roswell NM last weekend, my girlfriend’s grandmother saw what happened in Roswell and she said the government covered up everything. She described as “if the sun hit the earth”, loud and bright.

Saxon is the only old-time metal band that went from standard metal to glam to their own variety of power metal. And Biff's voice is as strong as ever. A true warrior of the vocal trade!!!
How do you define Power metal in comparison to "Standard metal"?
@@brattleboro9894 good question, complicated answer. I would say it wasn't an overnight switch, but they were full-on at least by "Metalhead". Ones like Forever Free and Dogs of War need another listen I think, but they had an arguably "soft" era of a more commercial variety from "Innocence is no Excuse" up through "Saxon(1988)" and it's questionable whether you could include "Solid Ball of Rock" or not, but they definitely left the commercial aspect behind after that. It's just a question of how HEAVY their sound became after SBOR. Lionheart was a real killer album that remained my favorite for a very long time after that. Sure, it doesn't resemble "power metal" in the sense that Stratovarius would. I would describe a "standard metal" sound as being something like Manowar. Definitely heavier than hair metal, not necessarily as crushing as ("Ride the Lightning") Metallica.
So I guess I would rate everything from "Wheels of Steel" up to "Power and the Glory" as the standard sound, maybe Crusader as a transition. Then Innocence up to Saxon as hair influenced, SBOR as another transition. Now they just destroy the earth with each new release, and it helps a lot that they have BT from Diamond Head representing.

I haven't listened to Saxon in a while. Bought Lionheart and played it loud on Friday evening. I had a blast! Bought five more of their albums, including the new one. When I'm through with Lionheart, I'll give it a listen or five 😊 I'm seeing them in March with Judas Priest and Uriah Heep. Cool line up!

What a sight for sore ears, I love this ... I saw Saxon open for Rush Sept 25th 1980 - the day John Bonham died - damn, it feels like it was last week ... My friend missed all of Saxon because he had eaten about a dozen containers of orange Tic Tacs on the car ride down ( we were 13 ) so he spent the Saxon's entire set in the men's room with diarrhea ... When Rush came on, we all stood on our chairs, and a girl of 16 or 17 stood on my chair with me -- I had to keep hold around her waist so she didn't fall .. The most fun I ever had at a show .. I never saw her again, but 40+ years later, probably the best relationship of my life
