The joke was to intentionally do pirate lyrics with a modern pop style song, in contrast to Treasure Chest Party Quest which largely lacked pirate lyrics but was done in their usual pirate metal style. So the joke this time around was that they just took Tortuga and did it as an actual pirate metal song.
Thank you Alestorm! I am allergic to hip-hop, so I'm glad I can finally listen to Tortuga without breaking out in hives! This song is also vegan-friendly now that the "eating lots of cattle" lyric was removed ;)
This is such a beautiful middle finger to everyone who was mad about the original song LOL. The fact that this comes on the album right after a song about being sick of the pirate life because you aren't a one dimensional person seems like a pointed choice. Fans do be the worst sometimes. (This is a great tune, but the Original was way better. Chris was right!)
"Chomp Chomp" was a great song. I live in Florida, so it's topical around here, and that's not even counting the college sports mascot. Plus, Patty really tears it up on the gurdy.
As mutch as I hate the TH-cam ads I will say they almost sometimes play I just got a add for bobay gin before the this time I watched the video an add for some rum would have been better
Jó látni, hogy az környezettudatosság nem várt helyeken is megjelent. Az újrahasznosított dalszövegek a jövőben kritikus szerepet játszhatnak az ökológiai lábnyom csökkentésében. And I know it's an English comment section, but sajnos nem beszélek jól a kolbászt.
Probably the worst song on the album. Don't get me wrong, i still enjoy this track but it's the less inspired and catchy of them all. I really love the original Tortuga, i appreciate how you try out new things and Curse of the Crystal Coconut was all about this, and i loved it. I know many hardcore fans may disagree, but that always happens, you can't please anyone and you should only care about pleasing yourself as an artist. With that said, to me this track feels like it was released to try to make the people who hated Tortuga happy. Maybe i'm wrong, maybe this comes straight from the hearts of the awesome musicians that you are, and i really hope so, but i still find it a bit unnecessary. Anyway the album is really good and i'm listening to it everyday with no skips!
I think the idea behind making a uninspired track is part of the whole concept of saying "f you" to the guys who hated on Tortuga being different. Essentially the band went "you don't like when we're different? Alright then! Here's a version of the song how you wanted it" but did it in such a way that it seemed unoriginal so as to point out why they made the original the way they did. At least that's my interpretation of it all
@@brentos-the-mentos maybe it's a bit too complicated, i don't think Alestorm wanted to make a "revenge" song for all the haters to understand why they did stuff, also because many COTCC haters are actually enjoying the track. I'm not saying you're wrong, but wasting an entire slot in your album to prove someone wrong feels counterproductive
@@gabrielebrodo3197 This is absolutely a revenge song, and they do it all the time. Pirate Pizza Party, Shit boat No Fans, Scraping the Barrel, all songs made to take the piss out of stupid fans that take this way too seriously

This feels kind of cursed, but assuming the background in some of the comments is correct, well played, please have a like and comment. (the original is still my favorite though)
Dont understand why you guys are still hyping this song. Seriously, its totally recycled. I know they having trouble making up new songs, but starting to recycle songs is a total No-Go. Some people thought the original was a departure from their sound so as a joke they made this version closer what people thought it should have sounded
@@James_Noone Most of the album is full of "departures" here. Cannonball cursing. PARTY - a lame song name. Japanese, spanish and hungarian singing. And songs shorter than 3 minutes.
it's pretty badass that this song works in two totally different music styles.
Waiting for "Return To Return To Tortuga" on the next album with a completely hip hop version!
Oh please, let it be a tango instead! :D
no pls
Can't wait for "Tortuga's Not Dead" cover by the Dreadnoughts in Polka
No, absolutely not. I'm glad that they made this version without the hiphop shit.
I need this
Congrats to the band on (finally) getting their own official channel.
When the time comes to write album seven,
We'll scrape at the previous album once more!🙈
My favorite from the album. Tor-tu-ga!!
Tortuga was never one of my faves. This makes it worth it. Good shit lads! Loved it!
this version is much better

This song will never get old it’s a perfect song
Both versions kick ass to be honest. Not what I figured was gonna happen but I loved that it happened anyways! Man I love this album
I like the version, when they sing, waouf waouf waouf waouf
part of the chorus shares the melody of "the hollywood hootsman," which im pretty sure chris also wrote, but it still throws me off sometimes
Gloryhammer reference
I just laughed when i heard it. Good shit lads.
Both versions are really good but I pick the original Tortuga. That was epic and video the is one of my fav of all times!!!
🏴☠️🔥

It was never hip hop you fool
Lmao. Not what I was expecting but it works pretty damn well
Honestly, I like both quite a lot and are perfect for different moods
Alestorm never disappoints!
Props if you were here while Chris made it as a joke on his organ streams :)
Tor-tu-ga!
Awesome!! 🥳🏖🌴
[Beep beep beep]
Hey guys, I think I found the Metal!
\m/
now i want "return to Treasure chest party quest" with basically the same music but with a more pirate-friendly lyrics
This is a nice rework. Keep on doing it Alestorm
Is this somehow related to Return to Hanger from Megadeth? It may not, but I choose to believe that it is.

Chris was 100% right.
Is this a reference to the band visions of atlantis and how they had a song called Lemuria and then another called return to Lemuria?
Running Wild approves!
i like this way more than the original 🤘🤘
To get to Tortuga from Port Royal you have to head northeast, not west
Where is the good captain to welcome us all to the sea?
christ almighty this is cursed
I like the original way more, but this cool too I guess.

Captain Yarrface is a real pirate unlike Christopher Bowes
WELCOME TO THE SEA!

So this is just the song Tortuga from the previous album but good?
I was hoping for an actual sequel. I know the original wasn't everyone's favorite but I was hoping for another rap song.
Ngl was hoping for a tortuga part 2 not the same song, but metal…
Same here...
Captain Yarrface is still a awesome pirate
So nice of them to make a listenable version of this song, thanks Alestorm
Running Wild "Port Royal" Refrence?
I got the joke. Loved it! but I prefere the original
Pentahook vs Fannybaws vs Captain Yarrface, who wins?
Can't beat the original laddies...
God damnit Alestorm 😂
I absolutely hate hip hop but Tortuga was a beast of a tune regardless. Keep experimenting and doing whatever the fuck you like lads.
Yo, guys, where is bassline junkie cover?
Dog songs are awesome
