- In Stay Tuned(1992), disgruntled couple Roy and Helen (played by John Ritter and Pam Dawber) jump from station to station after a demonic TV offer. In one of the best parts of the movie, they suddenly find themselves in a cartoon.
Animation supervised by the late great Chuck Jones. Music by Bruce Broughton.
The world needs another Chuck Jones, damn it.
TheBermudaMan favorite cartoonist
Chuck Jones truly was a legend
I really love the Chuck Jones animation style.
thenamestheygivearedumb he was the best
@@paisleyprincess7996 this scene is one of my fave in this stay tuned film
@@warnerbrosanddisneyvhsdvdb9015 My fav scene was The montage with Different Strokes, 30 Something to life, and the one with Charles Manson
@@paisleyprincess7996 the cartoon mice scene had that pure parody of tiny toons adventures and animaniacs and Taz-manina
High heeled running shoes! Lol this part stood out the most to me as a kid.
The better part is that they do exist
@@Mattcai2004 a great pure parody to tiny toon adventures and Tazmaina and animaniacs for this cartoon segment lol
I also love how they have the soundtrack sound very much like animated shorts of the Warner Bro and MGM period in the 40s and 50s. You did a great job
Bruce Broughton.
4:50 Whoa. Now here's a man who had this exact fantasy ever since he saw Gadget as a kid.
Damn right, i dig Gadget too including Miss Kitty Mouse from Great Mouse Detective and Kakatoa Katie from Mighty Mouse (I use to watch those old MM toons when i was 4 on Bozo 30 years ago), we all did like her, LOL
TRUE. He was the voice of Clifford the Big Red Dog, but I think this clip actually helps him capture the kind of stuff he was known for when he was younger...the zany, high-energy, slapstick , pratfall-type of stuff. Hell, it's almost like seeing an ANIMATED version of "Jack Tripper." Even though THREE'S COMPANY was an "adult show", I watched it as a kid because "Jack" has cartoonishly hilarious.
This scene from the movie was HILARIOUS! Looking back at it, it seems that 'Robocat' is a lot more trouble than it's worth in terms of damage & destruction than it is for taking care of mice.
Actually, this robotic cat is trying to do his job and trying to kill two mice. It's a good thing that Roy and Helen escape without getting kill by hell version of Looney Tunes called "Sinister Tunes" ( that the name I called for this cartoon. ).
RIP John Ritter and Chuck Jones.
GamerZero 💜💜💜💜💜
But Chuck Jones was more older than John Ritter when he died
One of my favorite childhood movies, those pictures of their kids as mice always cracks me up
Roy: At least we're safe here, nobody ever dies in cartoons, right?
Kenny: Yeah, right.
The strangest part of this is how quickly he adapted the cartoon world he was in....
I guess anyone whos watched enough tv shows can actually adapt easier when they get zapped
true enough. I might actually prefer a fate like this.
I would also like to live in a cartoon myself.
@@theBigA1992 i know that feeling.
It's more like Hell cartoon world, because this is an hell version of Looney tunes.
Chuck Jones did this , awesome
It feels like I'm watching An American Tail gone wrong.
Jesse Perez it is!
Tom and Jerrys American Tail
Eh, Don Bluth's style is a little more realistic than Chuck Jones', so I wouldn't go that far.
I just rented it from Netflix after not having seen it for 10 years. Brought back a lot of great memories. :-)
I wish there was more of this movie. For instance, the part where John Ritter and Jeffrey Jones duel it out in a "Prince-ish" world. Wigs and all. I love it.
6:00; the stamp has Chuck Jones face on it.
The robot cat reminds me of the one from that Tom and jeffy episode which takes place in the future
'No one ever dies in cartoons...right?'
LOL! Roy may find that the rules of engagement may work a little differently in this segment! Great post Sofox!
For everyone's reference, the movie as a whole is very good.
Lmao at the photo of her kids at 2:09 😂
Cue the donkey noise
>animation by Chuck Jones
I approve!
You can't mistake Chuck Jones' style. My personal favorite animator as well as eras of Looney Tunes and Tom And Jerry along with the Dr. Suess cartoons.
If I were to make a Movie with a few Animated Segments, I'd leave the animation supervision to Don Bluth.
Xanadu, anyone?
I don't want to sound like a furry, but Roy and Helen look adorable as mice
Roy:"Helen? Oh my (bleep)! We're cartoons!" (Pulls himself with his own tail) boy, this is strange!"
He didn't cussing exactly.
I see. 😒
Man I never knew this movie existed until I saw a video on TH-cam about the top 10 things you didn't know about stay tuned and man this movies hilarious and so underrated and this anime sequence by the late great Chuck Jones is a masterpiece
Man Chuck Jones does really good animating girl animals
Only played on the left side, man I wish we could turn off stereo and switch to mono.
That's probably why this is one of the many stand out scenes from the movie.
It's actually called "Duane's Underworld", not "Dwayne", which is why you couldn't find it.
this movie is awsome, havent seen it for 5 years lol, so glad you put this up.
@condenetwork i saw this movie on vhs with my dad back in 1993 when i was nine i laughed at the cartoon sequence until it was over, now i found it one of the funniest movies i have ever seen as a adult when i was nine i didn't get the commericals and tv show parodies until now i recently saw this movie on vhs back in november of 09!
I saw this in 93 the morning I was going to camp. It’s so funny
Other than the Salt & Peppa bit, this still holds up awesomely.
This was a movie I had to watch all the time love it
3:53 - "Even though you have no reason of lying to me, I'm not going to believe you."
God, I hate that stupid cliché.
"It's mom amd dad in the cartoon."
Yeah, why doesn't she believe him? I wonder.
+EineKartoffel *and
@@einekartoffel2490 How about "no evidence that shows any proof that they were sucked inside the dish for their own souls"?
Stay Tuned? More "Stay Tooned"!
You know, after seeing this movie, I want to see a fake reality competition based off this concept, and what I mean by that it looks like a real reality show, but it's all scripted, like the Total Drama Series only it's not all animated, it can have different Amazing Race-esc teams, have the host be a sadistic 4th wall breaking devil, and have different challenges based off TV shows, like for Wrestling it can be a tournament, for game show it can be hurtful truth kind of deal, and for cartoon (which is animated) it's trying to escape the cat, do you think that'll be a good idea?
I like it. But, how would you go about pitching such a concept?
@@KevinKess this music score on this cartoon sequence has pure tiny toons adventures and Tazmaina music compser to it
6:55
Porky pig: he-he hey th-th that's my line
Bosko: hey i create that line first
OMG, I LOVE this movie!!
I just cant get it any where here!! Damn it!
Oh well, this clip is pretty funny!! LOL
The cartoon is really the standout moment in this film. It's a pity this film lacked real chemistry between the two leads as it fails to take some satirical looks in the world of TV.
1:06 no one ever dies in cartoons, right? Wrong!!! What about Kenny on South Park? (though that didn't premiere until 5 years later)
@Marty McFly II and Bambi's mom, Mufasa, the stegosaurus from the rite of spring segment from fantasia, Smudger from "Thomas and Friends" and the buglars that stole the slab in the courage the cowardly dog episode "King Ramses' curse"
No, Kenny, does account. He talking about a cartoon for kids.
And Optimus Prime in the ‘86 Transformers movie.
My favorite part of the movie. I wish they'd saved it for the end.
I saw this in the theaters when it came out. Awesome movie, but even as a 10 year-old I felt something was missing or its message was too tacked on.
Well what was it missing and message that was too tacked on? Besides telling all child's "Kids don't try it at home", which that is a good advice.
what was missing was that there was no sequence parodying Mork and Mindy despite Pam Dawber being in the movie.
@@SpamEggSausage what are you talking about? This isn't any parody of Mork & Mindy in stay tuned movie, this is a looney tunes cartoon ( i wasn't talking about looney tunes cartoons series on Max though. ). Anyway i call this hell version of looney tunes, "Sinister Tunes".
@@VictorGonzalez-xs9oc I'm not just talking about this cartoon segment. I mean in the whole Stay Tuned movie there is no sketch parodying Mork and Mindy which I thought was odd considering Pam Dawber was in the movie and it's not as if she was known for much else.
@@SpamEggSausage well it's not in this movie, warner bros hadn't thought of any other shows or movies reference in stay tuned movie.
A BIG LIPPED ALIGATOR MOMENT! ;)
Ahahaha. I love this movie. I think this is the only clip on all of TH-cam. D:
Such a great movie, i need to watch it sometime
American Gothic @3:24. Most people would miss that joke.🤣
This movie made me scared of the American Gothic painting after seeing the Iowa farmer and his daughter's eyes popping out with screams but thankfully I've overcame my fears of it since as well as the movie Stay Tuned! However, since seeing this movie later on in my life, I seriously cannot help but to think of this movie and Hell every time I see The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, The Silence of The Lambs or something about Charles Manson. Honestly I think if they made this movie today, they should make a satanic parody of Ed, Edd, N Eddy and call it Ed Gein, Edd, N Eddy parodying the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in it as Ed Gein was the main inspiration for Leatherface as well as Norman Bates in Psycho and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs. Also every Peter Hymans movie has the name Spota as it is the maiden name of his wife George Ann. I also wonder if Pam Dawber got the part as Helen Knable because her husband Mark Harmon starred in The Presido which was also directed by Stay Tuned director Peter Hyams.
Catnipgram! LOL
6:14 It's ROBO-DOG!!! And it HATES Robo-cats!!!
Local rental shops and places that sell DVDs are your obvious bets.
If all else fails, you could try an online DVD rental service. Since you live in America, you could try Netflix (they have Stay Tuned in stock according to their website). Since it has a free trial, you could even sign up, rent, return and cancel all without having to pay anything. Though I warn you, I intended to do that with a similar service and I ended up continually using it.
Actually Netflix is no longer doing DVDs online anymore.
@@VictorGonzalez-xs9oc Huh, apparently my 15 year old comment is out of date. A quick search shows Prime Video and Apple TV to be possible modern day candidates for legally watching the movie.
By the way, back when I posted that comment, I was replying to someone in a conversation chain. TH-cam broke things since then so while the comments survive, you can't see which comments they were replying to. If you sort the comments by "Newest First" and scroll down, you should be able to see the original context of my comment.
LOL...that's a good one, Glitcher.
I wonder if that lady mouse was thinking that her mother was right about her husband and she should’ve listened to her mother
And married a respectful, responsibility, kind, smart gentleman
Love this movie
the only good thing in this movie that does not revolve around the afterlife
wayne's world
From Chuck Jones of both Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry
Aww I wish there was more of this movie. I was looking for Dwayne's world but this is all that came up
It's called "Dwayne's Underworld".
This movie use to scare me when I was little.
the funniest movie ever made i remember the animated sequence when i was nine i laughed until the animated sequence ended!
No one ever had sex in cartoons? You must lead a pretty sheltered life if you think thats true o_o
6:24 - 6:28 I sure hope that couple has homeowners insurance to cover the damages...
Check out the theatrical trailer, it is at the top of the "Recommended" list.
I thought I was the only one who knew about this movie....
"Roy...??" SMASH!!!! HAHAHA
Is this the same animation studio that made “Cats Don’t Dance”?
No, that was Chuck Jones did this cartoon for stay tuned movie.
Ok I see it now
They’re cute as cartoon mouse 🐁
6:14 Oh he dead
6:18 that face perfectly describes it
Great Movie
No.
Firstly, I don't have the whole movie.
Secondly, my account only allows videos of up to 10 mins (and I don't want to cut up a film into multiple 10min segments).
Thirdly, I'm already pressing copyright concerns as it is. Putting up the whole movie would be pushing it.
If you really want to, there are many ways of finding and watching the entire movie. Some of them are even legal.
Omg, LOL, this movie rocks!!
Danm it, we dnt have it here in Australia!!
Are you able to put any other scene's up??
Lawl, american gothic scene.
I remember this scene
I own this tape
Chuck Jones is my personal God.
No one ever has sex in cartoons either. I don't think he'd want to stay there. :p
Good vid. Can u put the whole movie on here?
As Seen on Family Classics with Dean Richards

lol this was on tv today. if anyone has Encore WAM its on again tonight
John River maybe a great actor but he's more better and animation because of a child I remember hearing his voice of Clifford the Big Red Dog and I had no idea he was in this
It's ROBOCAT!
I cant find this anywhere!
I'd like to see the music video scene.
