    I don't know whether it's the simplistically sweet cartoons, the easily understandable way you explain quite complicated things, seeing your world become more and more fleshed out or... wait I do know, it's turning the screen upside-down whenever a bald guy appears that keeps me watching these videos. Keep up the great work!

    Your videos put together everything I love about fiction and anthropology. I admire how much work you put into this.

    You mentioned in a previous video that the Hunter-Gatherers had multiple ethnic groups, perhaps you could emphasise these ethnic groups by each of them having slightly different 'Sections' that lead to cultural misunderstandings between them

    From what I've been able to read, scholars couldn't find people bartering a lot and then writing it down.
    What they did find, was a lot of gift giving and debt collection, along with people getting pressured by their families to pay off debts.
    Pretty crazy how Credit Cards are just based on something so old and popular.

    Will you explore constellations, and how cultures see that many things with such abstract dots?

    • @WorldbuildingNotes
      @WorldbuildingNotes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Maybe! But I've been thinking about getting back to basics with the coming videos and figuring out all the staple crops of the river basin once and for all. Cultural stuff will have to wait.

    Fabulous video of course, especially the bartering ceremony description. But hm, that guy in Section A kinda looks like his head is upside down.

      A collab would be awesome, but I don't have any good collab ideas. The topics we cover on our channels are just so completely different.

    • @bepis4094
      @bepis4094 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Often, it’s the combination of different ideas that makes something beautiful. Or you could find a topic that you are both interested in making videos on, like conlanging or something. Also, Xidnaf and Artifexian did a collab once, and they ‘helped’ eachother on eachother’s videos, so you could do something like that and provide some insight on two different topics.

    This is fascinating! It reminds me of my culture where the only thing that is regarded higher than knowledge is food and as such there is a lot of trading and bartering

  • @BeautifulObscurity
    @BeautifulObscurity 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    So since these hunter gatherers live close to the river basin culture on top of the giant magical creature, but don’t need the queen’s magic to reproduce, is it possible for a runaway king to run to one of their settlements in order to avoid execution? Or are they too far away for that to be possible?

    • @johnp.5841
      @johnp.5841 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Then the question would be whether they'd be willing to risk their relationship with the basin folk over protecting him

    • @WorldbuildingNotes
      @WorldbuildingNotes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      If a king ran to them, they'd just hand him back to the river basin people the moment they came looking for him. The trading relationship is important to them.

  • @1lobster
    @1lobster 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I know that in some tribes hunting and war were the man's job, but trade was seen as the woman's job. Is that how it works in your world?

    • @WorldbuildingNotes
      @WorldbuildingNotes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Large game hunting is the men's job, but trade isn't the job of anybody in particular.

    What did hunter-gatherers do when one of their kin was killed in a hunt?
    Did they mourn?
    Did they just leave them there?
    Did they blame anybody?
