I love seeing the three actors from The New World sitting with each other. (Wes, Q’orianka, and Christian) That’s so cool how they got to reunite for this amazing film.
Rosamund Pike is one of the finest actors of our time. Her work in HOSTILES is jarring, and so incredibly heartfelt and powerful. Thank you for what must have been a tough road to go down, Ms. Pike, and for portraying what has been too often left out of such movies involving these wonderful Native Americans. I've lived, and studied, the opening of the American West over a lifetime, a direct descendant of an amazing Shoshoni woman who married my 3-great grandfather. He was a mountain man who honored and respected, and sometimes fought, the American Indians he lived among and worked with over a lifetime. As well, I've lived with the Navajos myself for a number of years and speak their beautiful language. What is too often missing from such movies (like Dances With Wolves, Little Big Man, Soldier Blue, etc.) is the historical reality of not only hostility, but also cooperation and strategic alliances between races which, while sometimes ugly, even deadly, were also quite often positive, relationships that created the nation we are today. Americans are not perfect. None of us are. But we've done the best we could with what we had. Historical context is so very critical to understanding. Truthfully, through friendship, as well as hostility, together we created a great nation, one that has, over the past two hundred years, led the world in vanquishing tyrants and in spreading peace and prosperity. We learned much from our Indian ancestors and neighbors. They are my heroes. More so, those great trailblazers of our honored past would have failed in their quest without the training and education they received from the American Indian. To them we owe so very much, which sadly is no longer taught to our children (I suspect for political reasons). The movie HOSTILES offers a balanced perspective that I hope will make a comeback in Hollywood, a balanced, even positive, message that we in America--especially today--need to hear. Thank you, Ms. Pike. And thank you to all those involved with this incredible work of art.
One thing I respect about Christian Bale is his willingness to go all out for his roles, most notably, weight changes. The fat Christian Bale here sure looks different.
There's a bit of Terrance Malik about this Journey beyond the 1000yd stare all the way to an ostensibly happy ending after so much death and destruction.
Good movie. Could've been a bit more rounded with more insight into the chief and his family, but still enjoyable. Stunning cinematography, great cast, and geez Rosamund and Q'orianka are beautiful.

Wes Studi still around! What an icon!
With the weight gain for Cheney and the thin eyebrows, Bale is almost unrecognizable

Is everyone missing how blatantly racist and disgusting this movie is.
That's how it was back then. But there's a lesson to be learning about being racist in there. Guess you missed it 🤡🤡
