They derailed what would have been a morally complex character that forced fans to look at themselves as the real heels. But fans also collectively aren’t that smart like the chanting USA in a match where Rob Conway was the only American.
Great interview. As an Arab American my brothers and I loved this guy. He was the only one who spoke FACTS in the face of bigotry we were experiencing in America after 9/11
It is so sad how bad Arab Americans, or Arabs in general were treated after 9/11. Pissed me off all the time when I would hear (and still hear) from people in my own extended family. Every Arab I have ever met has been the nicest, most humble & giving people I have ever met. I am sorry you had to deal with all the bigotry. I hope you are not on the receiving end anymore.
Even as a 13 year old kid I loved this guy and appreciated his work, to me he wasn't a heel because everything he was saying was the truth! To think he was only 23 or 24 when he left, to be that good that young, imagine how good he would've become as he got older and more experienced. He was only on the main roster for about 8 months and people still talk about him to this day, just shows what an impact he made. Glad to see him doing well, seems like such a cool, down to earth and humble human being.
