    Cheers Danny, I thought as much it's the same on the canal near witchurch if you find the small fish , there's usually a pike not far behind.

    Danny - great vid as always!😀
    Nostalgia for us anglers has always been part and parcel of our sport - I was brought up on the Regents / Hertford Union Canal in East London as a kid - my father had an old wicker basket (he did upgrade!) - and the smell of that basket remains with me still.
    With regards to 'Test Curves' - take no notice - remember bringing in a jack around 4lb once on the Regents Canal and could quite clearly see a Pike that I would estimate at between 25lb - 28lb follow it in. She turned away 12 feet from the bank. Canals hold large Pike, though the majority are small - better to be 'overgunned' than 'undergunned' in my opinion....
    Fishing is all about tackling up for your target species - and if your target species can grow to large proportions, then you tackle up that way. I use 3lb TC Rods and 58lb braid when deadbaiting - but have only caught Pike to mid-doubles. Would I change my approach? - not on your life - as one day that 20lb-30lb Pike will pick up your deadbait - and I will have the tackle to handle it.
    Keep doing what you are doing Danny - you are spot on 👍👍👍

      amazing comment as always matey and spot on! i love the way you related the the sights and smells of angling and how magic its different for us all, i would guess the smell of tackle shops would be one we would share, inn years gone by im guessing the amonia would burn your eyelids i often wonder now how clean modern tackle shops are.
      tight lines and fingers crossed that big pike picks up that deadbait for you

    Well done Danny, a good start to the Pike season. Its good that you can go back to your childhood places and still catch a few.

    Greetings from germany. I recently got addicted to pike fishing and picked up 2 of those fox predator elite pike rods. I ended up going for the 2.75 lb version because it still gives me some good distance and i generally prefer the softer action when i use deadbaits liek sardines which can fly of easily when using my 3.5 lb test curve carp rods. my river is very rough and there's often months between catching pike. Hopefully your videos can help me improve.

      Get yourself on some of the trout waters over here in germany mate, they usually hold some really big fish, usually costs between 35 and 40€ for a day ticket but it's worth it.

    • @liammackenzie6959
      @liammackenzie6959 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is way too much money to cast some worms into some small streams down in bavaria. trout aren't really a species that i have an interest in. usually i only target them when pike have closed season. although i have to admit an 8 ft feeder rod would be nice for that type of fishing@@danieldriver4335

    Thanks for the video Danny, watched this yesterday and it inspired me to get down the canal today, had 10lb and 11lb pike. I think me and my mate met you a couple of times 20 years back around 2022ish at Shatterford Lakes, you were going to start a fishing club/forum from what I remember. Me and my mate Wouldnt mind doing a guiding session with you in the future. Keep the videos coming, the are awesome 👌

    Danny sometimes people get hooked up on rod test curves, it’s what you feel comfortable with. Great video, fishing is all about memories, apart from footprints it’s all we take away. 💚

      @DannysAnglingBlog  ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for advice mate have to admit using these rods more your right there is a softness to the action that makes the test curve almost redundant now to me. glad enjoyed the vlog, tight lines

I did a session on the bridgy in febuary in pheonix park by the pool and i caught 2 small jacks on deadbaits, i know there are bigger pike in there its finding them . if you can give me any more information maybe not on here but on the lymm anglers forum that would be much apprciated, cheers paul, its paul14 on the forum,

      Like a blood from a stone mate,,,, he doesn't even like panning the camera up to give u a clue haha......... Try Lymm Marina mate iv had a few double out there

    • @DannysAnglingBlog
      @DannysAnglingBlog  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd like to see the evidence I don't pan cameras up considering in past.few vlogs I have had the camera behind me and in this very vlog I even film to sun, which last.time I looked was in the sky.
      There are times where i dont want to share locations to thousands of.people yes but in short to do weekly.vlogs you do need venues that remain as secret as possible. Although I will.add.thses locations are quite easy.to find to anyone willing to get out on the venues in the vlog.
      Any how, moving on to the question, which I was leaving till I was off a family.holiday away to answer,
      If you are fishing lymms stretch of the canal.its not the same as the warrington canal in looks and.how.pike behave, the lymm canal.the quality pike are lot more elusive and some quite simply take time and hours on bank to catch.
      TH-cam videos remeber are 15 minutes and can sometimes look like.cast.in and catch. Behind that is time walking the bank to find the silvers before work, looking where cormorants land and noting where the bream.shoals live. All this I suggest you get in habbit of doing if want to be successful on the lymm canal.
      The are you mention is historically a good area and if your catching stuck with it, if it was me that's what i wouod do till you catch the same.pike if I catch the same.pike then I tend to feel the bigger pike are not there and move along a bit, but at all.times I'm getting out in first light in week looking where silvers top, you can be 100 yards away and it's 100 yards to far.
      Hope this helps

    Danny, I deadbaited on the Bridgewater quite a few times last winter and really struggled to get a bite. How long do you suggest I leave a bait in one spot before I move a few yards?

      its hard to compare mate if i remember rightly the snapper rang was around 70 quid and these rods are 150 quid each, these rods are as you expect from top end rods, lighter and hard to explain there same test curve but they seem to have the forgiveness in them and underarming baits just seems effortless, its hard explain
