    Really love this idea for scrapbooking. There are other ways, but this is just so much simpler and just as good.

    Just finished making a prototype of a mini album (no matting yet) using VANESSA'S FLOATING HINGE. Guess what? It worked perfectly. I added an elastic closure to see if that would keep the pages in check. Success. Love your floating hinge. Thanks for the instructions.

    Actually you can have as many hinges and pages/signatures as you want, although your book can get quite thick! Ive been doing this for several years now, you might even say decades, lol. Although i always, apply a layer on the back which you have not. This helps the hole spine to float and be secure inside the outer spine, just like in book making spines of this type, cant think what they are called. lol. old age. They also do not need to be the same size as your covers if you do it correctly. You can also add elastic to the hinges so you can attach signatures or loose pages.

      In bigger albums, I add tyvek to the hinge system, which gives it the perfect strength it needs.

    • @iteeshollow
      @iteeshollow 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scrappinitup1646 Yes i add tyvek inside the hinges to keep them from taring from the stress of the the elastic inside. I meant for a floating spine, i always glue it to a piece then glue that piece inside the front and back cover before covering them, It helps them to float. =)

    I can’t wait to try this. Fantastic thank you. Could you not do a inch at the end and just fold it together to make it double card stock on that hinge at the end?

      Lisa's Happy Crafting yes you could, just make that last 1/2 a hair smaller so when folded it doesn’t go to the score line. Thanks Lisa!

    This is a fantastic page hinge system, the floating page hinge! This is the year 2020 September that I am watching this video. Because the holidays are coming sooner than I am ready, I will be unable to purchase your tutorials until perhaps afterwards. I haven't made a photo folio yet. Let's face it, I've only made one photo mini album, and it didn't turn out so pretty. But I will try again. My question: what is your paper choice to make the folios?

  • @fairyGrandmother
    @fairyGrandmother 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This looks really good but I'm confused as to how you attached it to the cover? if you can use the last hinge for a page then how dose it attach? Thanks

    • @scrappinitup1646
      @scrappinitup1646  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 3/4 that is before the hinges is what attaches to the base of the album.

  • @BamMum
    @BamMum 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very clear tutorial----thank you. I know you have constructed this hinge for a folio, but I would like to incorporate it into a mini album with more pages than four. In that case, would the album have to be a gatefold?

    • @BamMum
      @BamMum 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess what I mean is------you can't have too many accordion pages as it would be too floppy so could you start another accordion page some how so that it would be stable?

      Hi Pat, The Live It Folio album is an album that will hold up to 225 photos in it. Go watch it and see how it is. Here is the link th-cam.com/video/WLbKVwOYBjo/w-d-xo.html
      Hope that helps you out Pat!

    • @scrappinitup1646

      This hinge doesn’t allow for really puffy embellishments. I don’t know of any hinge really that allows for a lot of big embellishments!

    I've watched this twice so now I would like to know how you determine the width of your spine. Also, if I want just to make a mini album with this hinge system where would you attach the 1 inch beginning?

    • @scrappinitup1646
      @scrappinitup1646  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pat, the 1 inch spine would attach to the back cover about 1/8 inch away from the spine. The spine size is a little more difficult. it would very on how much you embellish your pages. Usually 4 pages at least 1 1/2 if you don't embellish a lot, 2 inches if you are a heavy embellishments. I'm trying to get a guide up on my website for you guys that explains it, like a tutorial. I will announce that on TH-cam when I get that completed.
