I should have put the album titles or pictures of the covers for each of the albums in the video but ran out of time while editing this weekend…for those who want a list of the albums discussed, here you go:

    9. Yes - Magnification (2001)
    8. Pendragon - Love Over Fear (2020)
    7. Rush - Clockwork Angels (2012)
    6. Marillion - An Hour Before Its Dark (2022)
    5. Peter Gabriel - I/O (2023)
    4. Kansas - The Absence of Presence (2020)
    3. Jon Anderson (and the Band Geeks) - True (2024)

Great choices and a sadly neglected topic. Thanks for doing this. There are too many to mention; I'll just suggest Symphony of Light (2014) by Renaissance. It's not exactly rock, but it's some of the most beautiful music you'll ever hear.

Kansas: The Prelude Implicit and The Absence of Presence(thanks to our host)
Or, the last album with the original lineup--20 years after the original lineup broke up: Somewhere To Elsewhere

Great original idea, Nathan. I've not come across this one before. I definitely agree with the Rush choice.

I just got my copy of Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks _TRUE,_ yesterday from Amazon. And I am equally amazed by the quality of the writing, playing and especially vocals. I've been playing it practically non-stop since I got it. If this is to be Jon's swansong, I can't think of a better way to wrap up an amazing career.

Hey Nathan! Any vid you do where YES is included always gets my attention. You were spot on and I couldn't agree more! Nice job with this vid!! Thank you Nathan. 👍⭐️😎

Great list. My Top-5 is similar, but hits a couple different artists and a couple different records by the same artists.
Steve Hackett - At the Edge of Light - I think this is actually Steve's best solo album, 44 years into his solo career and 50 years into his career as a professional musician.
Marillion - FEAR - this is my favourite H-era album and probably my 3rd-favourite Marillion album overall, 33 years into their career.
Yes - Fly from Here - I think this is a great record, my 2nd-favourite post-70s album (after Talk from 1994).
IQ, Peter Gabriel, Rush, Pendragon, and Styx - 100% agree with you on these. Great albums, I think Road of Bones and I/O are on par with the other great albums in IQ and Peter Gabriel's discographies, and Crash of the Crown is arguably Styx's best album.

Great choices! Can't argue with your selections for those artists! All of those are great as well.

Excellent video idea Nathan. Those are some great albums indeed... I'll just mention a couple off the top of head , and both a real return to form :
Van Der Graaf Generator - Do not Disturb.
Iron Maiden - A matter of life and death.
    Cheers for now Nathan. 😍🎵🎵🤘

Great list Nathan! I would add two to your list: Devin Townsend and Saga. Devin started with Steve Vai in 1993 and put out his first album with his own band Strapping Young Lad in 1995. But his first solo prog album was in 1997 with "Ocean Machine: Biomech". He's been all over the map stylistically which to me is a very "prog" way to do things. Some of his music is more traditionally prog but certainly not all. Then there is Saga. 43 years after their first self-titled album in 1978 they put out "Symmetry" in 2021. Its acoustically re-imagined versions of their older work, but it is very different from the original. If you want to be more "pure" you could used "Sagacity" at 34 years in 2014. They have continued to tour to this day, and they still sound just as good live. You really need to give them a shot one of these days. Especially, try some of their first releases and then listen to "Symmetry" and the brilliant way they have given a totally new perspective on their classics.

The Enid. Both Invicta and Dust are arguably better than their 70s stuff.

I agree with your take on Magnification and the Ladder for Yes albums but Steve Howe should rename the band Steve and the Availables.Steves current poser frontman singer is no more Yes than my cat is Now. how's that for some free speech Love you Nathan
