They mightn't have been the best band ever.... but they definitely were the coolest. Ian Brown wasn't the greatest singer live, sometimes he was terrible... but he had a swagger and a stage presence attitude that said I don't care. The band we'd all dream to be in...

Here's an Easter egg for you all : Play the song normally and the drum beat at the beginning is off beat. Then play the song again but pause it at 0:33 after the two snare hits- now the drum beat is on beat! Testament to the wonderful drummer that is Reni. You're welcome!
2024 and just about 2025 and this is till in my top 5 songs of all time. The Stone Roses ladies and gentlemen, pioneers of proper British indie music. Legends
Just discovered this after seeing 'elephant' on Reni's setlist in the "She Bangs the Drums" video. This version is even better than the other 1 floating around on here. -A Yank
I like this version! I do on the other hand prefer the shorter version because I like the Wah-Wah guitar. Over all though, you really can't go wrong with either song. The long intro makes this song just as good though. I will never understand why The Stone Roses were never bigger than they were. Especially in America!
America had grunge and alternative breaking..while some of those bands were interesting, we missed out on Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Lush, Stone Roses, loads of interesting acts from the UK. Where i lived in California for a red-hot minute, Love Spreads was big, but not long after Cobain killed himself and Rap and HipHop broke through. This song was and still is my favorite by Stone Roses though... brilliant!
One Life Vlogs 2nd album was too much like a cheap Led zeppelin and the songs weren’t all that strong (bar a couple like Ten Storey Love Song and Love Spreads)
When I first heard this song it didn’t have the intro, it just went straight into the lyrics. I think I prefer that version to this one even though they’re both great.

Burst into heaven
Kiss in the cotton clouds
Arctic sheets and fields of wheat
I can't stop coming down
Your shrunken head
Looking down on me above
Send me home like an elephant stone
To smash my dream of love
Dreaming 'til the sun goes down
And night turns into day
Rooms are empty, I've got plenty
You could move in right away
Seems like there's a hole
In my dreams
In my dreams
In my dreams
Down through the heavens
Choke on the cotton clouds
Arctic sheets and fields of wheat
I can't stop coming down
Your shrunken head
Looking down on me above
Send me home like an elephant stone
To smash my dream of love
Didn't your bed and bookshelf go
And run, run, run away
These four walls saw the rise and fall
And your midnight getaway
Seems like there's a hole
In my dreams
Or so it seems
Yet nothing means
anything
