This is slowly convincing me to get an E36 4 Cylinder Manual as my Daily and to reserve my M Roadster for serious drives.
I had a 320, tried this 316 compact the other day, this is fun as hell
Trust me you will enjoy the peace of mind of the 4 cylinder. You can redline it’s constantly and bang every gear and you don’t need to work about breaking parts or damaging the engine. Most importantly the 316/318ti doesn’t break the speed limit when you beat on it. But I know that z3 m easily doubles or triples the speed limit
@@kevinmenard6792 breaking the Speed limit is a 20 Dollar Fine where I live though, if you somehow get caught.
@@hanslubas Wow youre lucky. Over here you get a 9 euro fine for each kilometer over the limit and cops are everywhere
@@Axel-nr9px One time I blew past a few officers along with a Quattroporte while we were doing 150mph. They didn't even attempt to catch us and when I asked the officers the next day, they told us they didn't have any Radars so they don't even try. 😁

it's slow, but then you can work the engine and the gearbox without reaching criminal speeds
M RO now that i own a 316 i can tell you you can certainly reach that kind of speeds😅 you just got to have it pined at all times😂
@@2strokebro75 I'm sure there's more fun with more power, slow cars are more forgiving because you can have them pinned in the corner and it won't bite your head off😊 But it's annoying if you can't even make it slide

try to combine a scandinavien flick with a clutch kick and that should make it easier. Also try to start a bit slower, that should reduce the understeering. :)
thats to fast for that car try to drift it in a verry strong turrn and in gear 2 and slow and clotch kick
Where were the clutch kicks. My car must be seriously under powered I’d need about 20 clutch kicks to get the arse out in 3rd

Im having the same e36 316i m43b16, it goes well sideways because it has a typ168speer differential what the bmw manufactured for 20i and smaller engines like 18is, 18i, and of course the 316i, you can get one for cheap, if you turn off the esc it makes suprises :)... Mine runs on205/55 stiling134 r16 wheels, i love it!

You need a welded diff, I have a 316i compact and after welding the diff, it's perfect !

Are you familiar with clutch kick? It can help you in slow speed to oversteer. Like in 4:11 +. You also fucked up scandy flick there, since you started steering right, then left, then right. You could done just left, right.

What do you think of a 318i e46?, just bought one with 143hp because of your video on a 316 compact, which I searched too, but they were almost in the same price with the e46. Great videos, enjoying so much!

Only way to easily drift these is in the rain,slides very well in the rain
Needs a m50b20 at least to comfortably slide in the dry. 100hp won't do much unless you are hucking it with all the scandinavian might in the world and slapping that left foot on the clutch pedal
