@@testdrivehero lmao it sure is! The biggest downside is how it chews through shock absorbers and suspension parts. Then again, hitting bumps sideways with full opposite lock might have something to do with it.. The body is still in a great shape and the engine humms nicely even after 300k kilometers.
my father owned a 318ti (also a Compact) and he always associates it with youth, I want us to restore it together so that my father remembers his youth 😊
Honestly, E36 Compact are overhated. Back then, i thought the E36 looks weird, but after i bought a 316i Compact Open Air in romantic red for 800€ as a first car with full leather interior, i realise how underrated Compacts are. Honestly, i would say with M-package and nice wheels, E36 Compact looking nice.
Had same feeling in the past, now I really appreciate the Compact. I need to test the 323ti to see how the car works with that engine and LSD. Totally agree with you.
I have pretty much the same car, a red 1998 e36 316i compact, with currently only 30000km. Its my first car and I have been driving it daily for almost a year now. Its such a good handling car, but over time I do notice that it lacks power, however I dont want to mod it when its still so "young"
@@judgegadgets1620 I actually tested it just a month ago! Its 8,7L per 100km, in combined highway and short distance driving (it doesnt show on the dash so I had to calculate it myself)
Im really thinking about getting one as my first car. I've always wanted RWD since i'm more comfortable with those on the sim, and the 316i is the cheapest car with RWD that i've seen around. I do have one question, are there any things to look out for in used models ? Such as rust, engine wear.. that kind of stuff ?

Good question, probably I have less care on the E36 Compact doing also more things withe no power. The E46 320Cd is more powerful but also have more expensive parts to break hahaha
@@testdrivehero haha true! I would love to get an e36 compact but no one around me is selling one. I guess I'm going to have to go through the expensive e46 route... Also I wanted to say I really love the way you show and test the cars!
De los pocos canales que hacen pruebas interesantes a coches viejos!
Como mola ver una prueba de un viejo Compact
This car is so much fun in the snow. You can have such a great time once you learn the handling with the stock open diff.
You and I know it hahaha
Pretty cool car!

The e36 is rather a downhill queen than a uphill king because of how slow it is but it for sure corners amazinf
Swap the engine and problem solved🤘🏻😂

The 318ti is quite interesting, better than 316i for sure.
I hope you can restore it, because nowadays is difficult to fine one in good conditions...
@@testdrivehero Thank you. By the way there is a 140 hp engine.

hola, creo que hay un error con la potencia. 77kw no son 150ps son unos 106ps, igual y me equivoco

is this engine (m43) prone to crack head like m42 engine?
More reliable the M42, theorically.

Is the compact fun car without performance mods like is it slow as hell or what
Depends of what Compact are you talking about, if it's the 316i of course is slow, if it's the 323ti, that's another thing haha
