I’m 57 yrs old and Cry like a baby every time I hear this Song. My old Man! My Father, my Pops. Did H! One time as a kid, I walked in on him in the Bathroom, needle in his arm, eyes in the Heavens. Scared me to death. Nicest Man in the World. Sweetest man in the World. Always picked me up when he got out jail. Give me money and 15 mins later came back and asked for it back.(I would just hold on to it because I knew he was coming back for it) But he loved me. I miss him. Lost him at 21. Found him overdosed. One day I will be with him again. Greatest song ever for me. My Dad’s life!!

Fast forward to 1997. I interduce my 5 yr old son to Marvin on the ride school. Like father like son. Friends and family have passed on. Marvin Gaye has always been there 4 me. God bless

I overlooked this song the first time I heard the album as my attention was gripped by the more lauded tracks but by the second or third listen it hit me like a truck. Here is a desperate man on the brink of despair with no way out. Heartbreaking and prophetic. I've had forty years with this album and it's poignancy never diminishes.
