Or at least be prepared for a harsh reality. Being surprised is simply horrible experience. Job market really scarred me off. Now I could try to come back but I am slowly setting into my new host country. 2) Rental: cities like Toronto are very expensive but also wonderful hubs with unlimited chances to socialize. Just make sure renting will not take more than 40% of a paycheck. Struggling with daily expenses will not allow to really enjoy what cities have to offer. By place to live I mean studio, no roommates, being a newcomer is hard enough with strangers in a kitchen. I learned in Toronto how rent can spoil the experience. 3) Foreigner is always a foreigner. We all have our nationalities and even double citizenship will not change it. It is nothing wrong with being a foreigner. This is just a state. We have our home country and adopted or host country. Canada can be very welcoming and good host. We are guests and need to follow rules, like being kind and appreciate team work. And don't look down on what locals love like Marple syrup.
