Soon likely 4% of Canadians will be Sikh compared to only 1% of Indians in India soon being Sikh.

There are 2 reasons behind bringing in so many international students.
    1. Greed of universities and colleges so they can charge them an exorbitant amount of fees and make billions. (International Students pay 3 times the fees compared to a canadian citizen)
    2. Prop up the prices of the real estate market which is already in a bubble to avoid prices from collapsing.

7:37 the number of Indian immigrants are more than the top 5 (2-6) combined. The fix to the immigration system is very easy. Put a cap on number of Indian student visas, temporary work permits, and green cards to encourage diversity and fairness for countries underrepresented in the immigration process. This will also strengthen and empower Canadian multiculturalism replacing social tension with harmony among the MANY equally represented minorities.

    • @AnAn___
      @AnAn___ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

India is a vastly more diverse country than Canada. India has 1,000 languages and perhaps 5 million ethnic groups with different cultures. Different Indians are very culturally different from each other. Parts of India are similar to silicon valley California. Other parts are more similar to New York. Other parts are similar to China. And so forth. India also has a rapidly growing number of immigrants moving to India.
Why do you oppose meritocracy? Shouldn't migration be based on merit?
"This will also strengthen and empower Canadian multiculturalism replacing social tension with harmony among the MANY equally represented minorities." This woke idiotic mindset will destroy Canada.
What makes you think there is social tension? Isn't the issue that woke socialism is making Canada poor?
Let us assume that over 1/3 of Canadian top performing students, elites, millionaires, billionaires become ethnic Indian; how would this harm Canada? What is wrong with self-actualization, perfection, excellence, success, merit?

    • @ShinyHart
      @ShinyHart 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

India is multicultural country? And more multicultural than Canada?? that is the biggest joke I have ever heard.
Clearly, you need educate yourself more to tell the difference between multi-ethnic society and multicultural society which are very different terms.
India is ONLY a multi-ethnic society because as you mentioned yourself it includes many different ethnic minorities. However, the country is predominated by the Hindu majority who fully dominate the economy and politics marginalizing other minorities. Among these minorities are 15% Muslims who have lived in India and contributed to its culture for more than 1000 years yet are described by Modi and his radical Hindu government: "Infiltrators".
The same regarding other minorities such as Punjabi who are so tired from discrimination and marginalization are now seeking to create their own country. Modi is sending assassins to persecute them inside Cananda.
It is clear that you are one of these Hindu Nationalists who built a corupt failure of country that the dream of every indian child, hindu and non-hindu, is to immigrate and leave the country.
Canada prouds itself of being the only true multicultural country in the world and it has been so more than 50 years. I would have told you to go read research papers in Sociology about Canada, but from your ignorance filled response it is obviously you don't have the mental capacity to comprehend such research.

@@andres-y9q2l Your socialist woke mindset is why Canada now has 60% of the USA's per capita income. And why ethnically asian and jewish (and probably Igbo, Russian etc.) Canadians dominate the Canadian top performing students, elites, millionaires, billionaires.
India as a member of the commonwealth governed by British Common law is more similar to Canada in many ways than the USA is.
Canada's resentment and blowback against jews and asian harms the Canadian economy.
If Canada were smart Canada would try to make India (a fellow liberal free democracy with shared values and long term interests) Canada's largest trading, business, investment, joint R&D partner after the USA in lieu of China.
And also increase trade and investment with Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam too.

The "Pros/Cons" part of the video lacks granularity (i.e. no one is arguing that we reduce immigration without also addressing supply-side housing solutions) - but the closing sentiments seem on point:

Hello Anna and Anastasia your channel is truly a hidden gem full of useful information and insight. I am an international student myself and I agree with all your points in the video, Canada used immigration to fix a deeper problem and that is its difficulty to incentivize the economy by having a heavily regulated environment, high taxes and low productivity. It will definitely alleviate some of the pressure on the system but, the real cause is still there. The first sector that is going to be affected will be the education as colleges and universities became over reliant with the revenue coming from Int. Students (which is not particularly small) and institution will need to adapt. When I first came here I fell in love with the country and I really feel fortunate to enjoy this beautiful place and doing everything to assimilate and integrate myself into the culture. I think here you can have a sense of hope of things improving in the future (something that is not the case in my home country) but if they do not fix the underlying problem it does not matter how much immigration they reduce, Canadians will not see a significant improvement. Keep the awesome work!!!

⦁ Who is Hardeep Nijjar? Vikash Yadav? Lawrence Bishnoi? Goldy Brar? Amit Shah? Arsh Dalla? Gurjant Singh? Arshdeep Singh?
⦁ Why are Canadians having to deal with Sikh & Hindu diasporas stirring up tribal hatreds in CANADA even though it all stems from their ancestral home?
⦁ Why did Canada have to launch investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections, stemming from India?
⦁ Why is BC & Ontario taking steps to possibly outlaw The Caste System at workplaces? Due to numerous labour complaints from their fellow Indians.
⦁ Why is Canada having to deal with the repercussions of greedy Ghost Consulting in India targeting Indian students? Filling their heads with PR fantasies. Leading to the vast majority of Indian international STUDENTS in Canada insisting (no matter what?) on PR versus returning home without it when SCHOOLING ends. Contributing to (not causing) a housing crisis. CANADIANS never promised students PR. CANADIANS never told students to risk life savings or get into debt.
⦁ Why is Canada having to deal with fraudulent acceptance letters created by Indian 'consultants' and given to their own people/students?
⦁ Why have Canadians seen social media videos that Indian nationals have posted all advertising Canadian PR & visas & permits & schools & jobs etc., like they're selling shirts? Posted hourly for years & rarely in English (with very very rare input from Canadians). With colleges and universities unable to control their conduct.
⦁ Why did Canada not have numerous PRIVATE 'diploma mills' (most in/near Indian neighborhoods) until 40% of international students were from India? Schools that Canada is now shutting down.
⦁ Why is the title "IELTS spouse" known to Canadians now?
⦁ Why have Canadians seen Canadian housing being scooped up en-mass as investment vehicles by, and for, Indian nationals? Often these 'landlords' also cram 20+ students in a small home and charge each way too much for rent.
⦁ Why are Canadians primarily seeing Indians only protesting & waving their flags on Canadian streets making demands (because they don't have enough credentials to remain in Canada)? Carrying signs accusing very tolerant multicultural Canada of racism!!!
⦁ Why are Indian STUDENTS asking for Canadian asylum (which Indians rarely qualify for)? Canada is considering fast-tracking asylum refusals (to prevent asylum system abuse).
⦁ Why are Indians using Canada to illegally cross into the USA? Who is Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel?
⦁ Why are most tech support scams, phishing, and identity theft scams in North America originating from India? Plus major auto theft rings have recently formed shipping stolen car parts to lower Asia and northern Africa. When arrested, many are from where? Research and see. Speed racing causing injuries and death. Research and see.
⦁ Why were Canadian food banks & other charity services recklessly advertised on social media in Indian languages?
⦁ Why is a country with over a billion people now badmouthing Canada and hurting it's great reputation? Canada, one of the top 10 most peaceful and kindhearted and law abiding and multicultural and INVITING countries on Earth! How do you think this makes Canadians feel?
And why for the first time in over 50+ years, are most Canadians becoming distrustful of immigration?????
With stuff like this, Canadians are getting more and more upset. It’s not hate. It’s not racism. It’s a normal reaction to an influx of any culture if it doesn’t assimilate and blend to a country’s way of living, including rules and conduct norms.
Support the country you live in … or live in the country you support.
Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Now Canadians are VERY happy with IRCC's recent changes (reductions & multifaceted investigations & deportations etc.). Including long-term Asian Canadians MOST upset (by all of this).

I really enjoyed watching your presentation. As an immigrant myself, I can relate to the challenges many newcomers face. While I sympathize with their situation, I also strongly believe that those coming into the country should be thoroughly vetted. One important point you may have overlooked is the growing lack of confidence in the government's ability to perform effectively. This erosion of trust is leading to a decline in domestic investment, with many of our own citizens seeking opportunities abroad. Additionally, external investment is dropping significantly.

I find the mixing like it will automatically happen is problematic. A lot of white people won't say it but they want to live by people who look like them. Most, however are fine if their neighbours are other backgrounds as long as they share the same culture/religion/values. Most whites/blacks/other asians don't want to integrate with Indians. My street has gone from 9 white families to now 3. All houses sold are now Indian rooming houses since the homes in my area are close by the college and very big (the house beside me just sold and I was hoping for a family but got more indian students again). It's odd when I talk to my non white friends and at first they were afraid to say but now they want to move to a different part in the city or further up north as they can't stand the invasion. If Korean/Chinese can't be around much of their own kind, from talking to them they prefer being around whites. I feel like there's going to be a time very soon where european valued citizens have no where to live. Friends and family keep going up north but even the most deserted super small northern town will have indian staff working there, not sure where they come from or how they get there but in places that were almost 100% white 5 years ago, now you can't find a white working any cash register job.

As someone who had to take the English assessment to attain the PGWP, I complained so much because I didn't come to Canada not knowing English, and I certainly did not graduate without the ability to read, write, listen and even present business cases in English. It pissed me off at the time cause he costs hundreds of dollars for something I was assessed on before even coming to the country. Did they really think my English got poorer after 3 years in the country?
But I totally get your point why its needed now with the way things are. However, in the long run, I think reforms should be made at the student visa level. Canadian and other international students who worked hard to get into uni don't need a deadweight that cant speak the official language of the university and contribute meaningfully. Forget contributing to Canadian society, would the student himself learn anything?

As someone originally from Europe where renting is the norm rather than the exception, I think part of the problem is Canada's transition from a rural/suburban society to a heavily urbanized society. Real estate in cities is exponentially more expensive than on the "outer banks", so transitioning into an urbanized culture with the homeowner mindset of rural Canada is bound to crash. Add to that the pretty much uninhibited and unhinged foreign investment into empty luxury condos, et voila, you have your mess. Vancouver is basically a resort city for the internationally wealthy, it is not a livable location.
As for immigration... I am an immigrant myself from Western Europe. I think what is tricky - same as in Europe - is when clusters of immigrants from other cultures concentrate in specific areas which leads to the emergence of subcultures rather than integration and lived diversity. Ironically, even for people FROM India, Pakistan, China, Indonesia, etc., this has lead to a situation that THEY THEMSELVES don't approve of, which is that they don't feel like living in Canada, but in a satellite region of their country of origin - most people who come to Canada want to live in and experience CANADA.
You cannot blame people for wanting to improve their own and their families' lives by legally moving to economically stronger countries, it's a tale as old as time, it is the foundation of Canada and many other nation states. Who is responsible are the national government who have not balanced immigration and foreign investment to benefit the CANADIAN PEOPLE but to benefit corporations, short-term high gains, and to line their own pockets.

I agree that immigration process needs to be made harder and stricter. Choose quality over quantity.
Focus on getting new immigrants only in specified fields such as a) healthcare (doctors, nurses, healthcare workers); b) trades (construction/plumbing/carpentry/electricians/farmers); c) tech (IT/AI/Robotics...) and no need to bring students to do useless courses in management/finance and other fields.
Develop other provinces besides Ontario/Quebec/BC/Alberta; build new townships and create jobs in these new towns; build more airports, highways, break monopoly of state owned air carriers and increase competition; ban all labor unions; decrease bureaucracy and regulations and keep it at a bare minimum; increase and improve work efficiencies

We need a policy of "If you want in, WE decide where you will live for the next 20 years." because they're not going where people are needed, they're congregating in specific places and forming enclaves where there's no places to live or infrastructure to support them.

  • @sheng-yaocheng7860

Thank you for summarizing these key changes! Many problems are actually the Canadian immigration system not learning from the mistakes of the US system and now it’s suffering the same consequences. If Canada cuts down on those selected immigrations but still takes in refugees, it’s only going to make anti-immigrant sentiment worse. Selected immigrants are allowed into Canada to help alleviate Canadian issues…or at least people who come through Express Entry are less likely to become a burden. On the other hand, refugees, given their unfortunate circumstances, really need to rely on a lot of social services and resources to help them resettle. The US has eliminated pretty much all non-humanitarian immigration that’s why immigrants are so demonized there. Americans only feel the drags of refugees and asylum seekers (even though ethically we need to protect them) and there is no selected immigration to balance that out. Yet this round of Canadian policy change is heading exactly that direction.
It used to be international students in Canada are not paying a lot more tuition than Canadian students. But Canadian universities saw how much money universities in the US are making so they asked the federal government to change the policy to enable them to charge international students several times the regular tuition (whereas in countries like France, international students actually pay less than citizens). So now Canadian universities rely too much on international students to operate and it becomes an exploitative relationship even before students step foot on the campus. The new PGWP eligibility is awful because students can make contributions in every field. It might (and that's a big if) address the pressing problems, but it won't help Canada grow.
I thought the new language requirement was interesting. Some Canadians who immigrated decades ago when the bar was really low still speak English poorly and now they are saying people can’t come to Canada because their language skills are not sufficient. Another point about language is if you apply through Express Entry now, even if you scored the highest language score, given how competitive the pool is, you still won’t get selected. So it’s a given that you need to be fluent in one of the languages at least to get an invitation. Express Entry also selects only the top people, I saw the head of The Institute for Canadian Citizenship in interviews talking about those top-tier people only expect the best treatment/lifestyle when they come to Canada. That's why many of them leave after seeing these Canadian problems play out. But I believe a good Canadian life is not about living in a high rise in Vancouver and Toronto, driving an expensive car, or buying luxury items...it's about the communities, nature and middle-class comfort. So the system is giving PRs to the wrong kind of people (just like mismatched people when hiring that don't align with company values).
This brings me to the last frustrating issue. There were so many people who attended “fake” universities and bought “fake” jobs to earn points to get an Express Entry invitation. And it's clear that the government wasn't proactively catching these abuses. They are taking up spots from those who try to earn the points fair and square. If I understand correctly, Canada doesn’t send these people away if they are found out (since some of them were scammed). So they still take up immigration quotas.
I have wanted to move to Canada for a long time. I have visited Canada many times, hiking trails through the coastline and fjords, climbing mountains and glaciers. I lived in Montreal for two months to improve my French and I was told by my homestay family that I was the first student they had who didn’t complain about the cold (I wish the winter never ends so I can skate or xc ski in the parks year-round). I have probably seen more Canada than many Canadians and I love every bit of it. But the opportunity for me to even get a shot to move there is pretty much nonexistent now. If only there was a way for the system to allow people who really care about Canada to get a shot at being part of this beautiful country.

I don't know that "had enough" is good way of putting it. The Canadian government was not prepared and had not done proper due diligence in determining a good number. Additionally, it's apparent that the "bad actor" comment by Trudeau eluded to people within the immigration department who were not following policy. Obviously, oversight was lacking.

Coming here has been rough, to say the least. On one hand, you see employers exploiting immigrants for cheap labor, and on the other, the government appears to allow immigration without adequate oversight. Now, I’m witnessing people with PhDs being denied the opportunity for permanent residency because someone, three years ago, abused the system by enrolling in an English graduate program and obtaining PR without even completing it. Immigrants are often victims of poor policy. Not everyone had access to quality education before arriving here, and it feels disheartening. Most people come with postgraduate degrees, yet their English is criticized- by people who barely speak one language, that’s harsh, being denied job opportunities while being super overqualified because of a lack of "Canadian labor experience" its just an excuse, my wife worked with multiple international projects, managed multiple offices back in our home country, and she has way more experience than like 50% of the people around her, yet, it took her almost 2 years to get an entry job as an Admin, while having more experience an actual University degree and being more professional integrity than her supervisors and peers. Inmigration it's supposed to be hard, but this is abuse and exploitation, but hey, let's blame everything bad happening in Canada to immigrants, best scapegoat ever.

We had high paying jobs and comfortable life in India - we moved for better value of our taxes and overall high quality of life but we are finding ourselves surrounded by same chaos and much worse healthcare. Many like me pay 100s of thousands in taxes every year in Canada and yet find ourselves on flights to India to seek quick healthcare. I’m an international student, from my perspective it seems like the government can’t keep themselves from messing with the economy, basically crippling it by regulations, making the market unable to take advantage of the increased labor supply.
I have spent almost half a million in Canada, which includes tuition, living cost, and starting a business which now employs two Canadians. But because I spent one term as a part time student, I have became ineligible for PGWP, which means I have no way of staying in Canada through my own agencies.
That is a slap in the face for immigrants whove come here to settle, the fact that I have positively contributed to the Canadian economy than many Canadians ever have, while withdrawing absolutely zero from public benefits, now if I buy a house here yall will drop on me a 50%+ capital gains tax and then kick me out, why would anyone want to invest in Canada? I’m seriously considering just moving to Florida because of all these.
What happened to the good old days when you can come here with nothing, integrate into the community, and then become Canadians? Almost none of the forefathers of Canadians had to contribute this much into the society first to become Canadians, they stayed because their peers wanted them to stay, and the market was free to adjust to the labor supply and housing demand without government interference.
What I see is not an immigration problem, it’s a big government problem, Canadians have become addicted to the government making decisions for them. The government has its grip on every aspect of Canadian life, it has hindered the responsiveness of the economy so much, that it cant even pivot to take advantage of free capital (int’l students) and third world labor rates (temp foreign workers).

    • @AnAn___
      @AnAn___ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I couldn't agree more. If Canada would drop woke socialism and adopt free market capitalism, the Canadian economy would boom.
Canada can also end zoning regulation on construction and sell government owned property (build, baby build) to reduce the speed of gentrification and rising housing prices.
Mass talented migration generally makes countries rich. It doesn't in Canada because of woke socialism.

I think the Canadian government has made it far too easy for anyone to immigrate. As an Indian living in India, I can attest that many of us look for the easiest way out and often lack a strong moral compass. Additionally, most of us struggle with adapting to new environments, possibly due to an archaic education system that emphasizes rote learning over conceptual understanding. Many Indians also face challenges with proficiency in the English language.
Unfortunately, Canada’s relatively lenient immigration policies have allowed a significant number of unskilled individuals from India to settle there. Many of these individuals have been reluctant to embrace Canadian culture. Corruption may have played a role as well, with some local Canadian colleges and universities admitting students who lacked merit. Given the extreme levels of corruption in India, this is not surprising.
The root issue lies in the Canadian government’s lack of strictness and vigilance when formulating immigration rules and policies. Many Indians, frustrated with the current government and financial hardships, seek to leave the country in hopes of a better life in the West. While educated individuals follow proper processes, the uneducated often resort to questionable means. In Canada’s case, this negligence on the part of both governments has had unfortunate consequences.
I hope stricter policies and more accountability lead to better outcomes in the future.

@@OpeongoLine Yes. PPP was higher for the median salary and housing was much cheaper. In fact, middle class families supported by a single income could afford to buy houses even in major cities.
It's simply not the case anymore. I'm middle class, live outside Montreal's suburbs (like 45 mins away from Montreal itself) and my region has seen the cost of housing more than double in less than 10 years. I couldn't dream of buying property here anymore and this isn't a great town. Even with a spouse and another salary, we would be hard pressed to afford the least expensive options.

      @OpeongoLine 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@MrLuchenkov You definitely have a point when it comes to PPP for housing. That's the main exception (albeit a critically important one) to the general increase in prosperity. Post-secondary education is also more expensive, and income inequality is worse (though there's less inequality by gender or race now). GDP, both total and per capita, has increased dramatically. Canada as a whole has far more resources (thanks in large part to technological advancements) at its disposal now than in 1966.

Still very interested in moving to Canada, but will need to do more research on areas that I think are best for us. Thank you for this detailed video!

Its been a boom time for canadian landlords. Home prices have skyrocketed and rental prices the same. Just a reminder that mass immigration isnt hated and bad for everyone. I was able to retire early because of it and ive expanded my rental portfolio so can now permanently live in the usa and visit india regularly just off rent alone. And my net worth continues to rise. So, just an example that this canadian system is working for lots of us

More Canadians would have gone back to work during the pandemic if there had been fair, living wages to support us in doing so. It says something that so many people made more by staying home than they could have if they'd gone back to work. That tells me that we're not being compensated enough by our employers. But instead, people were being accused of being lazy, terrible people for not wanting to go back to work for a wage that isn't actually a living wage. There's a problem here that the people in power and the owners of businesses, large and small, that nobody wants to look at, or own up to, and they certainly don't want to address it 8n a material manner.
They wonder why the Canadian birth rate is going down, but any "genius" could tell them that between crappy, unfair, inefficient wages, and the constant hysteria about the environment is to blame. It's not rocket science. We cannot afford to have children, and even those who can afford kids have been told, essentially, that the world is going to end - why would anyone want to bring a child into a world that going to end?

It’s great to see and hear two well informed Russian immigrants who clearly know what’s wrong with Canada than most of its complacent citizens and mostly all of its politicians. I watch many TH-cam videos of westerners, mostly Americans,Canadians, Australians Brits who have emigrated to Russia many with their families. They all have good things to say about their experiences and don’t regret their move.
Which begs the question I must ask. Do you two ever regret leaving Russia in light of the frustrations you have seen here or encountered personally in terms of cost of living, crime, culture, government inefficiencies, not so subtle censorship to name just a few issues.
It would be nice to hear your thoughts on that subject.

@@MakeThatChangeThanks for your reply. A bit short but I guess I’ll just have to be satisfied with that response. It wasn’t a trick question. It’s just that from what I see and hear in those videos Russia doesn’t look like the picture typically presented in western media. I guess a further question might be do you ever watch any of those videos for accuracy? I used to live in Whitby on Moonstone Drive in Queens Common but now live in Peterborough. I’m a retired Durham Regional police officer who has an unfortunate habit of being curious about what makes people do the things they do.Hence the reason for my original question.

Thank you for your service! 🙏
The answer is somewhat simple for us. We chose a first world country( Canada) over a third world country( Russia). We don’t regret our choice the slightest. In fact - we believe that most issues Canadians are unhappy about, are the issues we are happy to have if that’s all we have to worry about. We feel privileged to have the luxury to say that “cost of living is too high” while driving a car and owning a house. We feel privileged to worry about the wait time in a clinic, while our Russian friends don’t even know whether the medication they get are real medication or just sugar. We feel privileged to have a banking and a political system we can trust, without having to worry the government can seize our accounts just because they want to.
Money can buy you a good life anywhere. Without a doubt, a millionaire will live absolutely happily in Moscow. The difference is - how likely an average person is to have a good and comfortable life and a secure retirement. In Russia, my parents ( Anastasia’s) could barely afford a 1 bedroom apartment by the age of 35. In Canada I bought a house at the age of 33. That alone can tell a lot about a country’s situation. Both of us have been able to save more money by our age in Canada, than our parents have saved in their entire life in Russia. That too can tell a lot about living standards.
In Russia, most retired people count Pennies and many are begging for change on the street. In Canada, retired people travel, drive a car and watch tv. That too can tell a lot about our future in both countries.
Lastly, in Canada I can turn to police for help, and count on it. In Russia, I can only count on the police help if I have enough cash to bribe them.
Hope this answers your questions better. Thank you for the kind words.

Congratulations for all the hard work and research you 've done to compile so many data and provide a comprehensive explanation of the current situation. I'm an immigrant looking to get my PR, I have qualifications from one of the top universities in the world, experience as an international consultant and most important I do respect the Canadian culture and follow the rules. However, even for me it is uncertain what is going to happen? and/or if the government will make more changes and kick us out hahaha. I do believe that immigration has poured a lot of money into Canadian's pockets and most of them are not considering that, some of that money is going to go to another country who is willing to manage immigration with a better approach and provide a more certain perspective to new immigrants. The government allowed many bad actors (locals and foreigners) to take advantage of the system and those who are going to pay the bill are new immigrants due to political elections, and that is just sad. We will see who are they going to blame for mismanagement of public resources and the possible crash of several industries, that are currently relaying on foreign money, once there are no new immigrants to blame. I agree with most of the new rules regarding immigration, but I strongly disagree with the political approach of how the government is blaming immigrants for their lack of proper management. I still believe Canada is a great country no matter the outcome of my personal immigration process, wish you all the best of luck!

These "outdated" zoning laws that young people seem to eager to remove are what protect older homeowners from having their property rights stripped away and their land taken by greedy developers. There isn't enough land in developed cities for everyone. If you don't have a home, move away to a city or town where you can or will soon be able to purchase a home. Don't change the laws to hurt the people who were here before you. It's rude and un-Canadian. I'm taking to you, Ravi Kahlon.

There can be a balance. It shouldn’t take 2 years and 80k just to get a permit to build a guest house or an add-on on your lawful property. In a well functional society, it takes 2 weeks and a fraction of the price, no matter whether the decision is positive or negative.

@@MakeThatChange I was thinking about how the BC Gov't recently outlawed zoning meetings and imposed regulations on every municipality and city in our province to outlaw single-family lots. This raises property taxes and encourages developers to game single-family neighbourhoods into apartment style condominiums. It's undemocratic in that it removes people's ability to exercise their agency in determining the type of neighbourhood they want to live in.

Exactly it has destroyed neighbourhoods decreased home values in those areas and lead to over crowding and insufficient infracstructure systems to accommodate. You simply cant be cramming that many people into smaller established areas and the idea was to expand to uninhabited areas in the country to develop and build and expand but of course that never happened and takes much time and foresight not just for the buildings but for the resources needed. Years ago Immigrants came with the valuable skills for such builds but that's not the case now as they seek the limited white collar jobs which only puts more strain and demands on the sector and further leads to to the cost of high unemployment in the over saturated office white collar sectors. Governments have done a very poor job of linking immigration to the job market needs and governments have failed overall in their oversight to look at quality and needs over numbers and the ability to assimilate which has only exaggerated their failing system as well as creating chaos and decrease in quality of life for all across the country. It will take much work and stricter policies and remove the system abuse and gain greater oversight to bring back immigration to the first rate success and quality and outcomes it once was that the country is known for. @ianrobbins
