LOVEBITES toured in support of DragonForce UK tour in Nov. 2019. These are sophisticated women all about 30 years of age, veterans of previous Metal bands except vocalist Asami who came from ballet and jazz dance and an R&B/Soul vocalist background. I will suggest "Raise Some Hell" which is more Rock than Metal, and "Epilogue" which is a straight ballad with slower tempo all the way through. Something you don't get from "Holy War" that is common in their lyrics is honesty about struggles, self-empowerment and encouragement, perseverance, integrity, dignity and unity in LOVE, clearly expressed in "Edge of the World" which has [cc] lyrics which I recommend turning on for clarity of understanding, and that song is followed (in show) by "We The United" where all guitar parts throughout are played in unison/harmony to emphasize the ensemble nature of their collaboration. All LOVEBITES songs are excellent in composition, lyrics and performance and all lyrics are in English.

Lovebites Revolutionary Etude with Swan Song (same video) The dark-haired guitarist (MIYAKO) also plays the classical piano. You may like Bandmaid more as it's more Rock based not so Power Metal. Even though there are Lovebites Ballard leading into power metal songs as well. Like all the female Japanese bands they are all very good at what they do.

Well done lads, thanks for getting to LOVEBITES, I warned you to strap yourself in, these girls are redefining heavy metal. I saw them with some friends live at Roadmenders, Northampton 2019 supporting Dragonforce and thought "this is novel" but they proceeded to blow us away. The average height of the band is 5'0" they dress in white 1) so they stand out better on stage 2) they don't see why they can't look feminine while play metal, actually their mantra is "we're not here to be cute, we're here to play heavy metal." Asami used to be an r&b singer influenced by Alicia Keys & Aretha Franklin, she also performed classical ballet for 16 years and is why she's so graceful on stage. Tiny 4'9" happy Haruna on drums styles herself on Uli Kusch of Helloween, can outperform a room full of Duracel bunnies and smiles all the time while doing it, Miho on Bass styles herself on Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Midori(blond hair) is influenced by Malmsteen & originally played piano and electric organ, only took up guitar aged 20 and finally Miyako(dark hair) is influenced by Gary Moore & Ritchie Blackmore and only took up guitar aged 18 playing classical piano from the age of 3 before that. A sidenote, their sound engineers are the same guys who do Nightwish. Their songs break the stereotypical of darkness and despair with positive, uplifting and self emitting lyrics, even in power ballads, they're breath of fresh air, try this next to see their class, diversity and insane musicianship, it will probably be more to your liking🤘 LOVEBITES / Edge of the World (Live at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo, Japan) > video link > th-cam.com/video/FGRxXCDtRFA/w-d-xo.html

The back stories are great too, from R&B to Lovebites, Brilliant and the lady never let up on the drums, that must take some doing on a live show, pure entertainment and brilliant.

Hi. Thanks for reacting to these amazing young ladies. This is pretty much the only speed they do. In this show, the only time they slowed down was when Miyako, the guitarist with dark hair on the right, played Chopin on that piano behind her. There are classical elements in their music as Miyako and Miho, the bassist, compose their music. They are classically trained musicians before becoming defenders of metal as the album this song is from is arranged to tell the story of their crusade to save metal music. The drummer, Haruna, is 4'9" but plays well above her weight class.

    LOVEBITES - Holy War lyrics:
Look at those black clouds, it’s going to rain blood
People live in fear, covered in mud
Singing oh Gloria to change the prophecy
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for sisters
There is a thousand, a thousand of evils
Hush, do not wake up Satan’s devils
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for brothers
    Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and all for one forevermore
Kingdom of Heaven, never shall we fall
    Reincarnation, wait for your call
Singing oh, Gloria to change the prophecy
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for sisters
    Morning star and dying moon
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Mighty soul, let there be hope
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
Stand up in the name of the God of heavy metal
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for
Only have one thing on our mind
    Facing the fate, holy war
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
    We are the metal warriors

@@BritPopsReact Band-Maid will probably be more to your tastes as they are a hard rock band, taking the feeling of that old school rock and updating it to be something fresh and new. Check out their channel and pick any song, they're all great and they normally don't block reactions as they understand the reach of reactors to introducing them to new audiences. My personal recommendation is DICE as this was the first one I listened to and was hooked. They are also Japanese and write their own songs, play their own instruments and they are a live band at heart.

The Holy Trinity of Japanese Rock/Metal at least among TH-cam reactors seem to be BabyMetal, LoveBites and Band-Maid. If this is too heavy then try Swan Song with piano intro (th-cam.com/video/n1BiurShqBM/w-d-xo.html). This is the 1st all female Japanese metal band to play Wacken Open Air and Bloodstock festivals (2018), and when you realize how many awesome female bands there are in Japan that says a lot. Best new metal band (2018). These women are all petite thus the white dresses and high heels (which they play in for the entire concert) so they can be seen on stage. Once they start they turn into Metal Goddesses with Power, Speed, Thrash, Prog, Rock, Ballad and even classical piano. The best description for them is FLAWLESS PERFECTION no matter if it is LIVE, Studio, Music Video or even Anime Theme. Once you wander into the lair and are bitten you end up in the Wolf-Pack and always return to these insanely talented women to hear world class musicians making the 80's metal and old world composers blend with their own sound into something totally unique.

Guys. I listened to your reaction for maybe the fifth time or so. I think you are entertaining.
But, now I am soon 70 years, and I love this song and group. So, I really think you two young guys needs some training.
Yes, it is much to take in. But, when you listen in headphones then you hear everything. This is a brilliant recording.
Two guitars, one in each ear, the drumming going all over and the singing. Its like multiple tracks. You can switch or listen to several.
The only problem I think is the bass. I hear it sometimes, but it is often hidden by the drums.
Anyhow, some Lovebites every day and you keep your brain active. Keeps you young!

Another couple of shell shocked bite victims reeling from the onslaught of Holy War. As you can imagine, even the human dynamo that is Haruna on drums would be hard pressed to keep that up for the best part of two hours.
This band has it all, as I hope you are soon to discover. I would suggest “Edge of the World” (same concert) or “Epilogue” (same venue, 2019) as tracks that a) show the girls at their very best and b) I think you will be more comfortable with. But they play from ballad to full on thrash with ease, mix the tempo up nicely throughout their repertoire but, more than anything else, come up with melody after melody from (mostly) the pen of Miyako (stage right, black hair). Guitarist Midori (stage left), bassist Miho and former R&B and mostly backing vocalist Asami make up this phenomenal band.

Lovebites drink from the Uk metal classics like Iron Maiden, they have even a tribute song to "Aces High" called "The Crusade".
Anyway, there´s a lot of metal, rock and pop groups in Japan, but because of the language barrier and also because Japan´s record label policy they aren´t well know here in the west.
Maybe Band Maid, another all female rock band can be more your "cup of tea", they are also incredibly talented, or maybe Scandal and others.

Well, understood this is not normally your cup of tea, but you clearly appreciate their sheer awesomeness. And this band have converted other non-metal fans into fans, so give them more chances! So, yes, they do mix it up, though overall the pace is usually pretty intense. (see below).
Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity.
They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics.
They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level.
This is one of their "starter" songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist, and some of their songs feature her on the piano.
If you want to see what they do with the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” th-cam.com/video/n1BiurShqBM/w-d-xo.html Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude.
You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

If you are hooked with a melody or motif of some other song. Look into classic music. They are heavily affected by classic music in progress and motif of it, don't think they always stay in metal genre because the dark haired guitarist is the main composer of the band, and she actually is a classic pianist and guitar is her second instrument.
If you want check how tough they are, try "Edge of the World" and "We the United" in the same album. Those two songs are the last two songs of this 2 hour stage and those two pieces are connected.

If slower and more mid-tempo is more your speed, I highly recommend Edge of the World (progressive, starts out a ballad and builds to something epic, also really showcases Asami's background as an R&B singer); Swan Song with Revolutionary Etude intro (classical piano intro, neo-classical metal); Empty Daydream (classical piano intro, more hard rock than metal); and finally, Burden of Time (more of a classic hair metal sound, but what happens at about the 3:15 mark will blow your mind)!

Edge of the world is probably a better introduction for non-metal fans. Epilogue is the only slow song. Swan Song with piano intro is tre cultured. Regular rovers incl empty daydream (Michael Jackson like), Dancing with the Devil (Judas priest like, look for custom built guitars), and Raise Some hell (Motley Crue/Zach Wilde era Ozzy, more activity onstage). Other songs are generally like Holy war, powermetal meets thrash, symphonic or progressive metal/rock. And Anything from this official live Five of a Kind (gold trim on outfits) is stellar. Newest 2, winds of Transylvania and Glory to the World are over the top playing for a new Anime (crazy even relative to this, their norm!), and a gospel like song but faster and with these sounds, respectively. Enjoy!

Nice reaction and yes, this song is more power metal. Lovebites is very, very talented, but not for everyone, just like most things in life, we all have our preferences and that's not a bad thing. Exploring all the different types of bands available can be daunting at times, but good on you for keeping an open mind. They do have a couple of mid tempo songs that you might like and most have already been recommended in the comments. One thing that I'd like to add is that the music scene is Japan is probably where some of the best and most diverse music is today and Lovebites is one that fits into the metal genre. If you're looking for a more traditional rock sound, I'd recommend Band-Maid (note the hyphen) as they are probably one of the best hard rock bands around today. I'd recommend DICE as a starting song to get an idea of who they are - th-cam.com/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/w-d-xo.html New sub for your interest and comments.

We didn't not like it, maybe we chose the wrong song to start off with, but we just picked one and jumped right in.
