    Ok Elliot just to confirm we start our brand new engine cold with full throttle. How many hours do we open up the high speed needle during first 5 tanks on the box? And what temperature do we need the engine to be for the first 5 tanks and also what temp during the next 5 tanks on the track? ANY FEEDBACK OR RESPONSE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

    So quick question, the break in manual does not say to break the engine In at full throttle?

    • @ashermorales8276
      @ashermorales8276 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt it does but this is a fairly quick and easy way to break in an engine. Keep the engine up above 210-215° and really rich and it’ll break in just fine as shown in the video. Each person has their own break in method though. I do a similar thing accept I idle the engine for 4-5 tanks and then when I put it on the ground I limit how fast the car goes by how rich the high speed needle is for the next 4 tanks

    what is up with the airplane radio I have seen others in Europe do that

    • @TheEchelon
      @TheEchelon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not an airplane radio... It's a stick radio for cars/ground. Prob 3, maybe 4 channels. Airplane radios are like 8 channels. Videogame controllers are also like that so it's not weird that some people prefer that type of transmitter.

    Idk about all this. Why does every single video on break say to break in at idle and is one day ful throttle and the book even says idle not full throttle. That sounds dangerous. Just run it rich to get the oil flowing around. Does anyone else have any input on this? Lol sorry just bought my first nitro and watching a bunch of vids before I touch it lol

    • @ashermorales8276
      @ashermorales8276 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The full throttle method of break in is the fastest, most effective way to break in an engine. You set the engine so rich that the rpm’s at full throttle are basically the same as a high idle. This gets the most amount of fuel and oil flowing through the engine possible and creates a very nice polish on the sleeve that makes a good seal. The most important thing to note about this method is that the engine cools off very very fast running that rich so you need to keep a heat gun on it pretty much the whole tank of fuel to keep it at least above 200°F. The ideal temp for break in is 210°F-240°F. Preheat the engine to around 250°F and it’ll drop down once the engine is running. Hope this helps 😃

      @DavidRC Use a heat gun for that... Very first tanks at full throttle just seems silly to me, but I guess it works for this guy.

      @DavidRC it’s actually quite a challenge to keep it hot at full throttle like that. With the volume of fuel required to prevent it from revving to the moon it cools the motor substantially. I did this method and had to keep a heat gun on it the entire time because temps would drop into the low 100’s.

      I just wrap the head in aluminum foil… Done this many times on top tier motors, and it’s the most effective for me… They wake up quickly, don’t waste fuel or plugs, and last close to 10gal before taking a gallon or so to go away… Then replace sleeve, piston, and inspect the rod… good to go all over again.
