      Mary's Nest Wow, for turkey breast the outcome looks delicious! It doesn’t look dry at all! 😲... I may eliminate my crockpot for instant pot for sure, the crockpot takes forever to cook 😑

      Hey Tashi!! I have to tell you that I was shocked at how good it came out. I really wasn't expecting it to be so tasty. But what impressed me the most was how moist it was! Hope you are doing well!! Love, Mary

      Can you help me figure out the time i need for my turkey breast? My mom bought it and i just found out it's still frozen, which I know is still do-able i cant seem to find a chart for the time of frozen meat though. It's 5.53 lb and bone in. Thank you so much!

    I made a turkey breast in the IP last year for my dad & I. It was the last Thanksgiving we got to share together. Thanks to you, Mary, I cooked the turkey in the IP after finding this video, the first of yours that I ever watched. It turned out great. One of these days, I'll try it again. God Bless & Happy Thanksgiving. 🙏

    I cooked a Turkey crown in the oven on Christmas Day, but I’ve just been to the supermarket today and the price has gone right down, so I bought a 5lb frozen one. I’m going to cook it on Sunday in the pressure cooker. Happy new year, @mary

    I just got an Instant Pot praise the Lord! Super excited! We use turmeric, black pepper, himilayan salt, oregano & wait for it....poppy seeds! My son's idea to sprinkle poppy seeds on whole chicken and it gives it a unique "everything bagel" texture! (I need to add minced onion too!)💗

    I was watching Alton Brown last week.....He explained to NEVER rely on any pop-up thermometer in turkeys. Then, said, NEVER pull out the pop-up device, because the hole it leaves is where ALL the good juice will leave the turkey while cooking, & afterwards, too. 👍♥️🇺🇸

    I’m a try it with my turkey roast. It’s not a breast, but it’s a big hunk of breast in the shape of a roast. And it’s much smaller, so I’m a do the 8 minutes per pound as you stated and 2 cups of water and see how it comes out. I got a 4 qt Cooks Essentials pressure cooker and I’ll be cooking my turkey roast in that thanks to your wonderful video demonstration!

    I bought a MEALTHY (air frying unit for pressure cookers) to use on my Instapot. That way after turkey is done, you unplug Instapot and then put Meathly unit on top, set a temperature and time to brown and crispy. There is a new Instapot with air frying cover and setting.

  • @shadedlady4273
    @shadedlady4273 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Dont know if you have seen the air fryer lids for these instant pots, but there are 2, one made by IP themselves, another by a company called "Mealthy". Using them to crisp the skin is a great finish, before removing your turkey breast.

    Oh my gosh I can't wait to try this! I have a 10 qt Intant Pot that I initially bought to make homemade dog food in, my husband is always saying "Use it to make our food!" LOL At Thanksgiving time we have both ham and turkey because my husband does not like turkey. So knowing I can make a turkey breast in the IP and leave the oven for the ham is awesome!

    Mary I love watching you! I have a question though. I usually get a 2 1/2 lb. turkey breast. I sear it, cook it on high for 6 minutes per pound and use a natural release for 10 minutes. It turns out perfect every time. My question is since your turkey breast was so much larger, is that the reason you use 8 minutes a pound? I see so many different times for recipes, I am beginning to wonder if cook time per pound increases with larger pieces of meat. TIA and Hugs!

    the vent or what is called technically " pressure relief valve" is designed very simply like that to be most safe and reliable. It uses only its weight to lock up. there is no springs or other mechanisms, so there is nothing to break or go wrong . That is almost standard in all pressure cookers,

    Mary, Loved your turkey breast presentation. I'm wondering, couldn't you place the cooked turkey breast on a baking sheet/baking dish and place UNDER THE BROILER to firm up the skin? Seems to me, that might be an easy way of making it look "roasted." Love your input. Keep the IP recipes coming, dear friend.

    Hi Mary, I just found your channel and I'm so happy to be learning from you! I don't have an instapot but I do have an electric pressure cooker. Is there anything special about using the instapot "pressure cooker" setting versus a regular pressure cooker? I'll be trying this recipe today with my trusty old pressure cooker, so I guess I'll be finding out! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. A lot of us really need someone like you to learn from and are grateful when we find it. Looking forward to watching your videos. This is the first one I've come across, I was searching for a turkey recipe.

    I’m trying this today. After the time is up, do I need to wait to release the pressure like you do with beef roast- or is the quick release ok to do? Also, do I need to let the meat rest for awhile before cutting?

    😂 my husband cooked one in the oven that came out perfect but the one he put in the insta pot was so dry I was choking 😂😂😂 I believe he didn’t close the valve completely. So I’m going to make a whole chicken tomorrow and see how it works out.

    Hi Mary.. question for you regarding making a second or third batch of beef bone broth with the same bones... my question is ... do you keave the bits of meat still attached to the bones or do you remove them for other uses... obvioysly the bits of mest are very soft and tender and fall 'apartish' ... thank you so much in advance 😁

    • @MarysNest
      @MarysNest  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Taris, Thank you so much for visiting. That is a great question. You have the option to remove the meat and use it in another recipe or keep it on the bones. I have found making second and more batches of bone broth to be somewhat unpredictable and so much depends on the bones. But it's worth a try. I have a playlist all about making perpetual bone broth - and everything I learned after experimenting making about 20+ batches of multiple bone broths. In my house we need extra dark meat. Everybody's squabbling over the thighs and legs! I always cook up extra in my slow cooker then I use the stock for gravy. I have a little off the subject question. Can I use the left over rotisserie chicken bones to make bone broth?

    • @MarysNest

      Hi Chris, Oh my goodness!! I am a turkey leg girl!! I know exactly what you mean. And yes, you can certainly use rotisserie chicken bones to make bone broth. A few times when I have been sick, my husband has bought those chickens at the grocery store and I always save the carcass, etc. It works great for bone broth - very flavorful! Love, Mary

    Tx so much Mary. Wondering if ok to brine the breasts before using instantpot, rinse it, but still dry rub? Anyone do this? I also like to use apple cider instead of water in the pot to add extra flavor. Maybe orange halves inside the cavity. I like a fruity turkey.

  • @kentonkirkpatrick5225
    @kentonkirkpatrick5225 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So is it 8 minutes per pound of turkey or 8 minutes per gross pound (turkey + any stuffing weight)? Also, you started cooking the turkey and said "We'll come back in an hour and it will be done.". You forgot to add the 20-30 minutes of heat-up time before the pressure can build up.

    Instapot website says 7-9 minutes/lbs for boneless, but 20-25 minutes/lbs for with bones. So the cook time in the video seems way to short.

    • @MarysNest
      @MarysNest  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure to what you are referring. 20-25 minutes per pound...even with the bone-in, would considerably over cook the bone-in turkey breast. As a general rule, Instant pot recommends cooking bone-in poultry for approximately 6-8 minutes per pound. I think you might be confusing minutes per pound versus total cook time per pound. Here are the times recommended by Instant Pot on their site and which I confirmed by phone. These are “total” cook times (excluding the time it takes for the Instant Pot to come up to pressure):
      4 lb turkey breast-28 minutes total cook time on high/natural release
      5 lb turkey breast-32 minutes total cook time on high/natural release
      6 lb turkey breast-36 minutes total cook time on high/natural release
      7 lb turkey breast-40 minutes total cook time on high/natural release
      Hope this helps. Love, Mary 🤗

    Looks delicious. Since we're only a family of 3 and the other two get bored of foods easily turkey breast would be the way to go. Our internet signal is stronger but for some reason it's overall slower. I can still watch videos on here with some buffering. I can also still check messages on here, my email, and classdojo. However I cannot access my Facebook timeline or messages unless I'm on my handheld gaming system but that screen is so small. It will time out on my laptop and tablet. Seems our modem needs replaced and we plan to get one specialized for WiFi for Christmas this year. Daniel vomited Tuesday night at a sleepover and again Wednesday morning at home. We took him to the doctor and he wasn't allowed to go back to school until today. On the 22nd he's going to be under anesthesia to get an x-ray of his teeth (in their office they tried a technique that apparently worked on every difficult patient but him) and while they are at it fix any issues (he does have a tooth growing behind another one which might be a result of the cleft lip surgery he had done at 6 months old). Hopefully they can do his immunizations at the same time. Even five adults holding him down isn't enough to get him still enough. We worried the needle tip would break in his skin. He's doing well in the fifth grade so far. He got an S in Phys Ed (he's always been good at gross motor skills) and A's in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Health. Lee and Daniel are at a sleepover again. I'm loving it since I have the most energy during my alone time since I'm an introvert. Everyone except for my sister drains my energy. Even Lee and Daniel are energy vampires to me.
