Thank you so much for these step by step directions. Worked exactly as you said. I removed a gob of lint, plus a quarter, a dime, and a penny. No wonder it wouldn't drain. Good tip about the copious water that would pour out - it certainly did, but I was ready. Your video saved me a service call just for clearing the drain. Thanks again!
I'm onto my second apartment in Vancouver that has this lousy washer. Seems this was the cheap standard for all the condos in the city built around the time of the Olympics.
This video helped me immensely! I used the white cover to drain and catch the water. Found a toonie and small cloth in the filter. Its now fixed. Pheww! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video! It took me about an hour to drain all the water, pan by pan, but after removing the drain and random coins, barrettes and bobby pins from the previous owner, I'm back in business with no landlord call or repairman needed.
Thank you for your detailed video. Just fixed mine and found the detailed trouble shooting guide behind the cover. DO NOT Use Carbona Color Grabbers in this washing machine. 2 of the where clogging the drain in our RV Whirlpool Front loading washing machine.
Thank you for this video. I was lazy and did not use a laundry bag. A small cloth got stuck in the drain plug. I managed to clear it myself without having to call a repair person. :)
Same error code. Did this, yet I didn’t fish out anything. Just drained all the water. Not a single object or anything odd. Did a cycle, same thing. I hope you can still see this in case you had other answers.
The last thing I wanted to do during a covid-19 pandemic is deal with a washer breakdown. not only did you solve it so quickly and easily but your video is so easy to watch and follow and really help to come are already amplified fears with this pandemic. Thanks again you're a repairman angel!
@@jfferland1 what does your error code say? After I fixed this problem, my washer also developed a different problem where it would not spin. I discovered a solution that could have been inexpensive to fix, but I just ended up replacing the washer because I didn't want to leave my tenants without a working washer for days. I needed time to order and wait for the part to come and try to fix it, and there was no guarantee that it could be fixed after a first attempt, so instead of trying, I got an estimate from a repairman. Well, it turned out that the repairman was not going to be that much cheaper than getting a new unit. The repair cost estimate I got was $650, while a brand new unit cost $800. So, I ended up buying a new washer for my tenants. But if this were my washer at home, I definitely would have tried to fix it DIY. I would have tried two things, replace the carbon brushes (most likely the solution and the part would have cost around $25) or replace the motor (the part would have cost around $250). There are good youtube videos that show you how to do these fixes. Good luck!
@@KYKCreations I tried to do a washer wash, but then lights "door lock" and "spin" keep flashing and nothing happens. It's for my tenant as well but I have 2 weeks before she comes back. I'll call a repair tech - my time will be better spent doing something else. Thanks!
Thank you for doing this video! Found bobbypins, paperclips and some change. Worked no problem as per your instructions. For sure this saved me over $300 repair charge!
Thank you so much for this video! It took my partner and I about 40 minutes with many towels to completely drain our identical washing machine. Ended up being a snap and sports bra padding stuck in the drain. No clue how that happened! Thanks for the encouragement and help!
I found a quarter. By the way, isn't it cool that paper money can get washed/wet and it stays intact, unlike regular paper that tears or falls apart after getting wet.
Awesome thank you, I had it in my mind to do that because it happened to me before and they came and did that but I didn’t see what the guy did but it cost almost 200$ and it took him a few minutes so watching you do it gave me confidence to try it myself and it worked. I had a dryer sheet stuck in mine and a piece of gum? Oh well, thanks again!
Connie, if the knob is broken, I would recommend that you get a replacement knob. They are not very inexpensive (between $20 - $30) from Amazon or eBay. You would need the model number of your particular washing machine to get the right part, though.
After doing this, my washer started to leak from the area. Any tips on how I should fix this? I tried to tighten the drain plug but it still leaking. Thanks for your help.
Oh no! It could be that you stripped the thread on the drain cover so it is no longer able to make a seal or maybe you dislodged the drain pump so that the hoses attached to it are loose. Where is it leaking from? Is water coming out the front where the cover is or is the water coming from under the washer?
Oh good! By the way, if you had somehow stripped the thread on the drain cover/plug, it would have not cost much money to buy a new one (only about $20) for future reference.
When I open the drain pump filter cover the water continuously flows out. It's filled up two gallon buckets and is still flowing. How long before that stops?
I can't tell you exactly how much water drained out of my washer because I just kept letting the water pour out onto a towel, closing the filter cover, and then taking the wet, dripping towel to the sink to wringing it out. I kept doing that over and over again. It's possible that your blockage was more severe, such that there was more water in the washer drum. Maybe it would be have been better to use a bowl to scoop out water from the washer first. The bottom line is that a lot of water can come out!
Oudghiri, it sounds like your drain pump has failed, so the steps described in this video would not be adequate to fix the issue. You will most likely need to replace the drain pump. That's something I would not attempt because it requires lifting and moving the washer (out of the closet it is in or wherever) to get better access to the drain pump. I'd hate to have to call a repairman, but that's what I would do. Most appliance repairmen will charge around $100 to come out to diagnose the problem. I'm not sure how much it will cost to replace the drain pump though.
Thank you for uploading this!

Thank you so much! I just spent $1110 on fixing my motor control board! Was worried that I would spent another $200 to fix this code!!!

I found nothing in the filter, but I reached in to the drain to the left and pulled out a cloth mask.
