I accidentally cut off a part of my video. While ESA contributions are not federally deductible, some states do allow you to deduct contributions made to your 529 ESA (this is not new). You can find out which states in the links in the description. But remember, in order to deduct money, you have to actually put that money into your child's savings account. Are you currently saving $10,000 a year per child for college? I know I'm not. But even if I were, in the state of Maryland, you can only deduct up to $4,000. That means that if I did contribute $4,000 a year to their 529, my tax burden would be lowered by MAYBE a couple hundred dollars. The benefit in the 529 ESA is really in long term, tax-free investing.
That savings of maybe a couple hundred dollars in this economy could be a difference of my child getting something really good to eat or having to eat crap food again even if it’s for 1 week out of the year. Trump is for the people.
It really would. My son cant do swimming music and a sport all at once, or any other things at once, bc we cant afford it. I literally have to work 40 hours mostly til 230 am just to pay for the stuff he does do. And we were blessed to get schokarship for kindergarten at a private school but they stop at kindergarten and we are going back to homeschooling. So this would alleviate the need for me to work so mych to afford his stuff
Look into how it works in Florida. I get 9600 towards my homeschooling. It's not given to me, but I can get reimbursement for material or classes or whatever. I just bought a computer through their portal and didn't spend a dime of my own money. He lives in Florida. So I wonder if he's basing his ideas off of what Florida does
Sadly only a couple states (California being another) offer these stipends/vouchers. It Def needs to be expanded, so many families would benefit. I don't think this is what he is basing it off at all.
What portal did you use? Im in Florida and can't find computers or anything meaningful in that pirtal besides crayons and "all the things" they want to push that we're not interested in.
I can trust primary sources for what is said. Can't trust those who take those sources, chop and screw. And even impersonate (which has been my experience and made it hard to trust but always going to primary)

I homeschool 5 children in Arizona, where there is an ESA program. Funds are allotted to each student and put into an account that we have access to through Class Wallet. There is a marketplace with vendors such as lakeshore learning, outschool, Office Depot, rainbow resource and the like where I am able to purchase curriculum and supplies. The portal also allows me to pay vendors who provide tutoring services, music and art classes, gymnastics etc. None of this requires me to pay out of pocket, I simply log in to the portal and get the things I need- purchases are submitted for approval (which doesn’t take long) and once approved the items are mailed out. I can also choose to pay out of pocket if I need something in a hurry and then submit receipts for reimbursement. Unused funds roll over to the next quarter. I have homeschooled in many states on a tiny budget but I will say this program has enhanced our experience and made things much easier. It has been a huge help and so if Trump is advocating for something like that on a nationwide basis, I would not be opposed.
Looks like I’m moving to Arizona 😂 Girl, I wish we had this kind of support. We are flailing like fish out of water here in Pa. They loathe us homeschooling families, and it shows in the big fat nothing they do to support us.
In Az also. Have homeschooled 3, 1 has graduated university in 2020, and gone on to marry and be independent, my final 2 are 13yr old twins and have never been in brick and modor, only homeschooled since age 5. They are in 8th grade now and ESA has been a huge blessing.
I've been homeschooling my son since he was 4, he's now 10 in the 5th grade !! We use your videos for math, love your content !! Keep up the great work !! ❤🎉😂
@Shera_Simone It depends on what you're looking for. Mine have been in 2 different schools. They've spent the most time with Acellus Academy it's a paid private homeschool so the school system is completely out of the mix. That particular school doesn't have a classroom setup. They just basically give you material (which are just videos that teach them & print outs to do work) so it's best if you plan to fully homeschool. Most ppl don't realize there's a difference between fully homeschooled and public homeschooled & partially homeschooled. If you fully homeschool again they provide you with the material but you'll have to sign them out of the school system, register for your homeschool with your state & have it approved, administer important testing & keep up with it, and oversee what they’re doing... Like really keep up with it (which you'll have to either choose but fully homeschool) because not all children will want to do all the work. Also, they get bored easily so you'll want to join things they can still participate in like homeschooled groups that they can meet up and play, go on trips, etc. Or you can go with K12 which is public homeschool meaning they're still in the public school system, will have to still log into virtual classrooms with their teachers & other students, have field trips & all kinds of events, play days, clubs, competitions, etc. My children are currently both under K12 now because they wanted to change & have that environment. Acellus you'll have to also pay tuition they've different ones but K12 is free but you'll have to wait until they're doing enrollments to get in (just reach out & ask when)... K12 will also send them everything they need so you won't have to buy materials at all. My daughter is 16 and graduated this year under them! They can help them graduate early or once they finish they can be finished with their first 1-2 years in college but you have to ask about it.
This, right here! Keep homeschooling out of government reach period! People don't seem to understand this. Moms who have been in this game a long time don't want this. Homeschooling doesn't have to be expensive. Plenty of options and ways to school children. Homeschooling is hard work, and not always cake and ice cream. However worth every moment. Remember why you are choosing to homeschool. Please do not ask for the government's help!
I don’t want to accept money from the government. With money comes strings. I have been homeschooling for 23 years and when the government gets involved it never turns out well.
The amount of homeschooling moms who commented without actually listening to the whole video is nuts. THANK YOU for researching and presenting this so well!! We’ve used 529s over the past year for our homeschooled kiddos. It was a huge help when I retired from the military & our income was reduced.
We need more of you in the world! Thank you for taking the time to check primary sources, encourage people to do the same, and expand/explain very clearly.
Another thing to note, you can now roll over up to $35,000 to a ROTH account for your child of unused 529 money. Thats a huge plus. Gives them a jump on retirement. I opened a 529 for each of my kids (3) when they were born. $150/month on each one. My oldest is 6 and she has over $15,000 already. It's a great tool to use for the future of our country.
Agreed can you imagine if that was done for me as a child I wouldn't have to worry about retirement. Honestly believe all parents should do that for their children rather than save for college for them.
I've homeschooled since 2012. My son is now 16 and just started community college. I'm homeschooling my 10 yr old daughter also. This is the first time your videos have come up on my recommended! Thank you for sharing this. My first thought when i saw the title was, "I wish!!" and then you clarified. Thank you!
Yeah, because of Biden-nomics. We didn't have such critical problems before they came. With chicken prices at 1 million a lb, and gas $5 a gallon... of course nobody can afford anything. We have to think of the root causes and how to fix them
I’ve been getting 8k per child (we have four) in Florida through scholarships. It pays for the curriculum, after school sports, field trips, etc. It’s a reimbursement program essentially but there’s also a marketplace you can order from which has school desk, bookshelves, there’s toys, etc all through the program…it’s amazing. The best decision we ever made was getting our children out of public schools. But for many, school = daycare so there’s that. But if you are capable and willing then it’s 100% worth it.
Thank you so much! I hadn’t heard about this but I’m glad to have the heads up and someone who has laid it out so clearly to refer people to when it does come up.
Was just thinking the same thing. If it's better over time, why not start now? Unless you have to prove that you have a child to open the account....? 🤔
Akeeba this is why I appreciate you so much. I had not heard about this 10k thing until seeing this video with you. But thank you so much for breaking it down and explaining it sensibly. Now I can help my homeschool parents understand this should they have any questions about it. ❤
You don't need to use the HSA for investments. A regular brokerage account does, and long-term capital gains have no taxes up to $63k yearly per person. Here, just use the HSA to buy stuff for your child's homeschooling, up to 10k yearly. More clarification from the Trump administration should confirm this
I’m a single parent pulled my children out of school last year. It is a challenge I pay out of pocket for everything. It has been a sacrifice because I do not qualify for assistance. I do not get child support, but it is has been so much better for my children.
I paid for a homeschool program and it was very reasonable. GOV has free homeschool as well. If there is a will there is a way to keep your child out of public school.
Considering we have our kids all day every single day without reprieve, without supplementary meals, or supplies from the school district while we pay sky high taxes, and still have to answer to said school district, it would be nice to have something. We already are entitled to access to clubs and athletics. They send us school ID yearly so we can get into our local museum for free, and the access ends there. This is very much a sacrifice that we have made, because it is near to impossible for us right now to live on one income.
In my state taxes for public schools are attached to our real estate tax, the amount we pay just for the schools are outrageous. I would like a tax reduction equal to the amount it costs me to homeschool, Id be happy with that.
You don't seem to understand the overall goal of our wicked government. If you actually think they want your kids to be homeschooled THINK AGAIN. They gain too much from filling children's heads with lies and false narratives, and turning them against you and ruining any meaningful time you'd have together as a family. Plus, they can feed your kiddos whatever poison they are currently pushing. I could go on, but I think you get my point. None of the so called "perks" of being in an American school system public OR private are because they care about our kids. They provide all thise things as incentive to keep people apart of the system that they gain so much from. So if you are expecting any real help from the American govt to go against their plans to destroy your family, you definitely still don't understand how things work here. They are not our friends and they do not want what's best for your children. I promise I'm not saying any of this to be mean or to cause contentions. I truly just hope you will see what is really being done and what a few of their motives are. I pray you and your kiddo(s) do well. Be blessed!💌💞
Not all states get access to public school benefits while homeschooling. My daughter needed testing for adhd. Yes, we qualified, but they told me she is at the bottom of the list and it would be at least a year. Of course other public school students would be placed ahead of her. I had to spend about $1,500 dollars for the testing.
Thanks for taking the extra steps and sharing the full information. We have to remember that social media clips are NOT the complete story. We all have access to researching any answers. This is a great reminder to be objective and look for complete answers before coming to conclusions.
The problem is that when you use any program that has tax dollars connected to it….those in charge of how taxes are used are held accountable to how tax dollars are spent….which means they then have the “right” to see what you are using that money on….giving them permission to enter your home and look at your books as well. So if you use a curriculum that they do not agree with, they can require you to change it because you have used tax dollars and so your child must receive the same informational “opportunity “ as public school students. If you have a loca school that is okay with you part in the sports etc but do not like home education…using those programs opens the door for that person to decide that they must determine that they must enter your home to examine you home education program. In the name of them being responsible with tax funds.
Another great video! I got so excited when I saw the thumbnail! 😂😂😭 Fortunately, I didn't see the initial video so my hopes weren't up too high. But my 10k dreams were quickly shattered within 13 minutes. lol
I love that you broke this down i’m new to homeschooling and just trying to get some assistance and it was adding up what people where saying thank you for this
In WV we get $5000 a year for homeschool if apart of the Hope Scholarship - it’s paid directly to the suppliers and other needs or we are reimbursed. It’s not direct payments to us.
She's wrong. Homeschool expenses will be tax deductions, up to 10k yearly per kid. Just add it to your 529 plan then immediately buy stuff for Johnny using the 529
@@economicdevelopmentplannin8715 That’s exactly what she said, she said this is not a tax reimbursement. That what you spent on homeschooling can be tax deductible up to $10,000 per year. Did I miss something because that’s exactly what I understood Edit: meant it is not a deductible
@@Alex-Mex At 5:03 she specifically says this is not a tax deduction. It is though, and if you miss this point ☝️, you've missed the entirety of the proposal 🤦🏾♂️ Then she proceeds to say the esa is for long-term investments. While yes that's one purpose, Donald Trump is proposing it be used purely for the tax deduction on expenses associated with homeschooling... Yes, you missed something 😕😔😕
Some can't afford to stay home on one income and purchase quality materials and curriculum for multiple kids in different grades. Everyone's why is different. Some of you guys live very privileged lives that's obvious.
there’s a cecilia regina video about this: that is the plan. Their kids were always in private schools anyway so this just puts (poor) children to work earlier as kids attend schools which are so poor quality, there’s no point in going. They are speeding this along by further LEGALIZING child labor to be lower and lower… It’s multilayered.
Thanks for doing the work, I didn't even know this was a rumor as I don't participate in homeschooling groups. So you are informing me on many fronts. I live the slayers of misinformation. You are awesome! Thank you for being on this format. This content is invaluable.
You are partially right. Thank you for clarifying that part. However, what you have left out is school choice which he said twice he actually said remember that term that phrase the parents right to choose now if you remember, he was a proponent of money following the student that means that whatever the funding is provided by a state in my opinion, whatever that amount is to pay for a student to sit in a seat in a school building that money would follow the child if it’s to private school that money would follow the child to private school. If it’s the public classroom, the money follows the child to a public classroom. If it’s to homeschooling, the money follows the child to their home that’s my take on it.
I understood it to mean that the 529 plan never applied to homeschooling. The school choice means you can get an account for kids that are in homeschools. One more day….😢
This should be illegal. No tax dollars should fund private schools. Our public schools need more resources. If you want your kid to go to private school, then you pay for it.
I disagree as long as the school are meeting standards they should absolutely get the funding. Most private schools out perform public schools. The funds should absolutely follow the child to the environment that best suits the child. @@ineedhoez
Mine are young too. I opened a 529 for each of them since they made it able to roll over into a Roth IRA if they don’t use it. That way it doesn’t feel wasted if this homeschool tax-free deal doesn’t work out.
Check out the free Catch the Vision Course at Libraries of Hope - that helped me SO much with homeschooling my children and makes my life and the life of my young children, and now growing children so much richer!
The sentiment is really wonderful and. The only potential drawback I could anticipate is that any money may come with strings attached depending on how tyrannical your state is about homeschooling. For example, you HAVE TO teach a topic that you may not want in your curriculum at that age, or at all, depending on your values, but in order to get the funding you would have to show that you did teach XYZ topic. This idea to open up 529's early to homeschooling families seems very similar to when he opened up HSA spending to women's hygiene products. You're not getting reimbursed for your tampons, but you're allowed to use your tax free savings to buy these necessary things. Thank you for explaining primary and secondary sources. Too many people take opinion as fact these days. I'm not getting my hopes up too much BUT I'm glad he's including the homeschooling community in his plans to improve the education in this country. Hopefully he has some homeschoolers who will give him similar fair criticisms you shared in this video and perfect the idea even more!
The goal isn't to improve education. The goal is to make us the most uneducated population, so we can't discern the truth. They are literally talking about how uneducated Americans are and how that is the reason we need H1B visa workers. The dumber we are, the more conservative we vote.
I absolutely LOVE our esa program in AZ, yes there are annoying parts but it saved our butts cause before we would have to only buy curriculums and nothing else, im so happy to be able to pay for things the kids want to learn. Every state needs this!!!! There is so many things you can get paid with this money, dance, martial arts, home economic items, special tutors, computers. My kids have learned so much more than i have so far at their age
That would be awesome after 4 years I finally got help from family to get my oldest girl back In jujitsu she’s wanted to do the whole time my youngest doesn’t really get to do anything outside home or with other kids saw a tumbling class for $60 an month today that I would have immediately jumped on if I actually had the $60 to spare to put her in it 🤦🏽♀️ here in nc the only thing I’d heard could be helped with was only if your kid has special needs and then yes they have certain requirements and such attached Arizona y’all are lucky that would be amazing!
I personally dont care too much about the money, but I would love for my kids to have access to public school sports and music programs! Even if it means that I need to jump through a couple extra hoops to do so. I grew up with a similar program in MN and cannot express what a difference music made in my life.
@MsTy2908 pay for what? My property taxes? Like I said, I don't care too much about the money. I would just like to be able to use the programs I already pay for. Heck, I would like to be able to play on the playground after school hours since that is the closest playground to me like I've been able to do in every other state I've lived in.
Public school anything is garbage. I’m glad u don’t care about the funding then you should be able to get them into quality extracurricular activities because that’s not something they’ll get in public schools.
@annag5642 So because I don't want money with strings attached or to deal with coops I should pay out the nose and drive over an hour each way to the nearest homeschool band, which is a Christian praise concert band lacking most of the , because you decided what was right for my children that you only heard about via my online comment about my positive experiences with the public school sports and music programs? Well, bless your heart, but you should see a therapist about main character syndrome that severe and I'm gonna keep doing what I and my husband deem best for our children.
Homeschool groups tend to have their own homeschool sports they do and everyone pitches on to coach and pay for, the community building have programs for sports and classes like cooking etc etc around here if it’s a public thing that’s advertised as public school even the school supplies give away homeschoolers are welcome and never turned away. But that’s just where I love idk about anywhere else.
I appreciate this fair explanation. Im only 5min in but im delighted that i cant tell what your politics are! Breath of fresh air, very nice to see someone discuss something ACTUALLY imporrant politically without getting caught up in the damn dichotomy. Best wishes
Thank you for the breakdown! I know I was thinking it would be a reimbursement. Glad I didn’t get my hopes too high. Praying that my state or the federal government will start really helping homeschoolers.
Accouant here. This says that if you put in 10k into your 529 account and wait 10-15 years to gain interest. You can than take out money tax free. But this is your money that you put in yourself. And in doing that waiting 10-15 years? At that point you need that money for college, not homeschooling.... So.... Your getting your own money? Tax free? Wait, it's your money. And I have no idea who pays that much money for homeschooling. Again it's propaganda for those that do no understand taxes and the tax laws. 😢 Ps: homeschooling accountant mom here.
How is it "your money" when tax money goes to schools per child. Even people without children get taxed and their tax money then gets funneled to schools what are you even talking about here?
Just know they use YOUR child's SSN every year so always keep that in mind. They need access to the child's account, they dont have ANY money it comes from the people or the money printer.
@@deepthought1064 well yes, its obviously tax monies we are talking about here. But can't tax money that's going to go to the school anyway, instead help out homeschooling parents if that child is not going to public school?
We get 3000 in California through a charter but it’s becoming more and more controlling in the last 3 years. Now you HAVE to use the curriculum choices they offer, you are not forced to teach stuff you don’t want and you can teach religious material at home of course but is not funded. It’s still pretty good, we get music lessons, sports, concerts , pretty much anything considered educational
How does homeschooling work in california? I live in san diego. I dont know anything bout home-schooling and i rather homeschool my kids instead of going to public school.
We are in a charter in CA. I've been in it for 8 years and have seen a lot of changes in that time. It's harder and harder but I appreciate the funding for enrichment classes that I could never afford. My boys are both black belts in karate because of these classes.
We had a wise older accountant 25 years ago. We asked , “can we take our homeschool material cost off of our taxes?” His response, “do you want them in your business?” Us: “no” Him: “then don’t do it”
A whole life insurance policy for my 4 year old is ~$20/monthly. I decided to go this route because it builds cash value & he can use it for whatever he wants. Also, his premium is locked in for life, he’ll be 50 years old with a $20 life insurance premium that will most likely become cheaper over time accounting for inflation.
This is amazing. If you don’t mind me asking. Which insurance company do you go through? I’m looking to get whole life for my daughter, and self. There are so many to pick from.
Im only on board with any govt money if its no strings attached. No state testing, no required curriculum. We left public schools to get away from govt oversight.
Thank you Akeeba! Once again with facts… teaching the home school community how not to fall for these false narratives.. research people! Akeeba hope you and the family are faring well .. LA Fires 🔥 our prayers are with everyone who has suffered any loss..
Our homeschool program isn’t considered a coop, but there is tuition every year. We meet every Monday and go over the curriculum that we will be teaching our kids each week. A lot of families have 5 or more kids in our group so it would def help those families who have like 6000+ in yearly tuition.
Great video.I love how you mentioned primary sources. I also enjoyed seeing your reaction to his video. DJT cracks me up 😂😂, I do like what he mentioned though
Even before he said he was going to champion this cause, I don't like the way they go about "supporting homeschool". It feels like getting their fingers and control into homeschool. It's not free. You are beholden to the rules set to get the money. IT FEELS like they lost control over education because everyone realized they could homeschool during COVID and offering copious amounts of money under the name of school choice, is their way of getting control back over the schooling, without having to actual teach anyone. I live in Florida. You currently have to do certain things to get the money. One of which is to take a standardized test at the end of the year. As far as I can tell, nothing happens if you fail ......YET. They can change that whenever they want. You also have to unenroll from your school district. So you are technically not "homeschool" anymore and are no longer protected by the homeschool laws. You are signing away those freedoms. I wish they would just give us a tax break and call it even. But instead, they get donations from corporations and they get tax breaks. Then the money is distributed as scholarships, with conditions. The round aboutness of it bothers me.
I live in Florida, too, and I have seen some homeschool parents buying some ridiculous stuff through this grant that's in Florida. From Disney park passes, kitchen supplies, and a whole bunch of electronics that are not computer-based. Yes, you have to do stuff to sign up for this program, and you have to make sure you sign up for the right program. If you don't enroll your kids from school the right way, then you have to pay everything back. People really have to understand the fine print when going through a program. I see it as beneficial and a lot of ways but also see the amount of money that they give per child is not enough especially if they do the private school option because private school now is like over 11,000 and the student is only getting about 8,000 to $9,000 then the parents have to pay the rest of that tuition. And yes with the homeschooling you do have to take a test at the end of the school year.
We started allotting $200/mo in our son’s 529 when he was 9 months old. He is now 9 years old and has over $40,000 in that thing. I think I had $500 worth of savings bonds when I started college. 😂 But prices have gone up! We may use some of it for private high school tuition or just wait for college. I think the 529 money can also be used toward buying their first home, so not a terrible deal, imo.
1000 likes. Excellent video. Honestly. I am alarmed at the number of people who thought they were going to receive a $10,000 check from the government every year to spend on homeschool supplies. Anyone who watched the edited clip should have hunted down the original, but honestly, then the edited clip does not say the government would be sending out $10,000. Also, even if it did, it is important to evaluate whether that is a good thing or not, rather than just focusing on the extra funds themselves. All tje money in the world won't matter if the homeschooling community stays blindly accepting government payouts that open the door for more government control over homeschooling. The lack of homeschooling parents not giving any thought to this also alarms me. As homeschooling parents, we should be focused on critical thinking. Also, I voted for Trump, but that doesn't mean I blindly like everything he does. I do not think he understands homeschooling well and I worry about who is advising him on the matter.
I would rather get a reprieve of a certain amount of taxes than a stack of cash with strings from the government. If we can keep more of our own money in the first place, that would be more beneficial for homeschooling families.
@@caroblue7988similar to how they give out tax credits for buying certain EVs. Many homeschool families live on just one income, so reducing tax burden would be great.
I don’t have a child but was homeschooled. My Mom homeschooled 9 of us kids. This would have been the best back then!! Great idea Trump. Thank you for explaining this to all the homeschool parents and kids.😊
People always complain, and know all alone that Biden kicked us to the curve, and didn't care about anyone else, he did alot of spiteful things to we the people. I'm happy to have Trump for President. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
People say homeschooling is the way to go like every child comes from a good home. For some children school is their only safe haven & teachers are in many cases their saviors. Home school your child if you want but stop saying for everyone.
Please stop misinforming people as you are not a qualified financial professional..you are explaining a 529 but what Trump is proposing has to pass Congress so it is not an investment product ...the truth is it is a form of tax reimbursement. You put money in the qualified plan and use funds for tuition and you get a tax write off similar to 401k contributions. It will be a qualified plan thru the IRS as it involves tax compliance. It should not be used for investing rather short term tuition
I've homeschoolef my son since the pandemic, and he has flourished so much since. There are no interruptions of others, and he has been able to focus on his hobby, which is in tech and focuses on reading the Bible and spending time with God.
Just an FYI--we can use our 529 account for a non-accredited classical school--they don't do standardized testing and our curriculum isn't state run. I am assuming this would be the case with this new expansion.
This really helpful, thanks. Do you know if the MD tax credit has a max allowable income?
How do you save into a college fund with ESA
This is not what he's referring to, BTW.
That savings of maybe a couple hundred dollars in this economy could be a difference of my child getting something really good to eat or having to eat crap food again even if it’s for 1 week out of the year. Trump is for the people.
Good breakdown, thanks.
If we pay taxes into public school but homeschool our children, THAT money should go right back to us. Period. This would be a huge blessing.
Good for you for putting them first ❤
It really would. But then you’d have to give people who don’t even have kids their money back… and then the entire system collapses! 🎉

This is golden info for people who really don't know anything about homeschooling.
I’m in Arizona has well, looking into homeschooling but would get so overwhelmed and discouraged.

Hey what website you use to homeschool ?
@@tasha9650what website do you use to homeschool I am wanting to homeschool my children
@Shera_Simone
It depends on what you're looking for.
No thank you. Money comes with strings and control. My money my rules. I homeschool to be out from under these people.
Exactly
Yup 👍

I don’t want to accept money from the government. With money comes strings. I have been homeschooling for 23 years and when the government gets involved it never turns out well.
The amount of homeschooling moms who commented without actually listening to the whole video is nuts. THANK YOU for researching and presenting this so well!! We’ve used 529s over the past year for our homeschooled kiddos. It was a huge help when I retired from the military & our income was reduced.
We need more of you in the world! Thank you for taking the time to check primary sources, encourage people to do the same, and expand/explain very clearly.
She is homeschooling us like she does her kids 😂 keep it simple
I usually find it difficult to understand these things, and she explained it in a way that is VERY easily understood! Wow!
ESPECIALLY IF YOURE TEACHING KIDS.
I hope everything works out for all homeschoolers!
What happens to that account if the dollar collapses?
Can u explain this 529 money for me. I wanna set one up for my babygirl
Agreed can you imagine if that was done for me as a child I wouldn't have to worry about retirement. Honestly believe all parents should do that for their children rather than save for college for them.

Check out the scholarship program in Florida. This has been available for couple years or more. Nothing new.
Don’t they have total say over what this money can be applied towards? Strings attached as far as curriculum eligibility ?

You don't need to use the HSA for investments. A regular brokerage account does, and long-term capital gains have no taxes up to $63k yearly per person.
Here, just use the HSA to buy stuff for your child's homeschooling, up to 10k yearly. More clarification from the Trump administration should confirm this

Sounds like Florida and Arizona already get the money through a portal.
I just really appreciate you saying that ! It’s not easy
You are great teacher of adults as well as children ❤
Thanks for taking the extra steps and sharing the full information. We have to remember that social media clips are NOT the complete story. We all have access to researching any answers. This is a great reminder to be objective and look for complete answers before coming to conclusions.
Thank You Akeeba, we appreciate you so much. You broke this down intelligently and gently.

Yay for smart people like you, girl! Thank you so much!
I think they’re going to start defunding public schools which imo isn’t the solution and would really hurt a lot of people
No much to defund when they are making money form private companies that sign contracts with schools
there’s a cecilia regina video about this: that is the plan. Their kids were always in private schools anyway so this just puts (poor) children to work earlier as kids attend schools which are so poor quality, there’s no point in going. They are speeding this along by further LEGALIZING child labor to be lower and lower… It’s multilayered.
If theyre not learning anything and only being indoctrinated then there is not point
Public schools especially in my area, back in 2012 has said they were broke. The public schools has always been broke. From what I have heard
Most of the money went to the administration anyways
This is how I understood it aswell
I understood it to mean that the 529 plan never applied to homeschooling. The school choice means you can get an account for kids that are in homeschools. One more day….😢
This should be illegal. No tax dollars should fund private schools. Our public schools need more resources. If you want your kid to go to private school, then you pay for it.
I disagree as long as the school are meeting standards they should absolutely get the funding. Most private schools out perform public schools. The funds should absolutely follow the child to the environment that best suits the child. @@ineedhoez

Thank you for explaining this! Way too many people misunderstood what he said. This explains it so well!
12:07 thank you for the clarification, as I knew there's always a catch!
Wow, what's that I hear? A reasonable and sensible voice😀. Thank you
We started allotting $200/mo in our son’s 529 when he was 9 months old.
Unused funds can be rolled over into a Roth IRA after the account is 15 years old :)
This is the first time I've heard of 529 and my kids are 6 and 7. Can't believe I'd have that amount for them by now
"Honest Donald"😂 he couldn't even say that with a straight face.
Exactly. Govt help usually comes with strings.
I would rather get a reprieve of a certain amount of taxes than a stack of cash with strings from the government.
If we can keep more of our own money in the first place, that would be more beneficial for homeschooling families.
@@caroblue7988 I agree, but that may come with strings as well. 🤷♀️
@@caroblue7988similar to how they give out tax credits for buying certain EVs. Many homeschool families live on just one income, so reducing tax burden would be great.
It won't that's what we're moving away from @@user-bn7dg2km2d
Great video for sure Akeeba! Thanks for sharing!!❤
Your dad was an actuary!? That's awesome! My son is in University studying to become an actuary. I've been the looking for other black actuaries. 😃😃
Thank you for this, forwarding to so many people. 😮
I worry that some people will pretend to homeschool for the money and their children will not be educated at all.
How many go through the system uneducated. Statistics say homeschooling over all does better.
Future republicans for trump to brainwash. 😅
My worry is that people homeschool to cover up severe abuse and neglect.
No coincidence that God brought your channel into my feed. New sub ❤
Thank you for the information. I was one of the people thinking he was giving it to homeschooling parents 😅
Everyone’s fallen victim to misinformation online at one time or another! We tend to see what we want to believe 😂.
Well done! Thanks for the information.
People say homeschooling is the way to go like every child comes from a good home. For some children school is their only safe haven & teachers are in many cases their saviors. Home school your child if you want but stop saying for everyone.
Great informative video. As soon as I saw this circulating on social media. I said let me see what Akeeba has to say. I trust your sound information.
Thanks for sharing. I greatly appreciate this information
Sounds like another banking scam. Give us your money, save .10 for every dollar that we make 30% on.
Thank you for all your research and information. Great video!
I think the term people are using is FAFO🤔
I came back in to hit the like button, I forgot! Thank you for clearing things up for us. I knew it sounded to good to be true 😂.
Just an FYI--we can use our 529 account for a non-accredited classical school--they don't do standardized testing and our curriculum isn't state run. I am assuming this would be the case with this new expansion.
I don’t homeschool my child, yet I found this video to be beyond useful. Thank you for the information. It was relayed perfectly.
Trumps words -> 3:40 “….school choice, very important, school choice, remember that term….”
