Close to forty years ago I camped with an old school chum from back in the early sixties. Your sardines jarred loose a memory. My buddy was given a bunch of "slack-salted herring fillets" which he passed to me being my turn to make supper. I rinsed the salt out a little and cooked them in chopped onions, butter, and milk in a covered frying pan and seasoned with pepper and parsley. A maritime meal fit for a king. Thanks for the video and the jarred memory. My friend from those days many years gone now.
I used to do an engineers job and work out of the back of my car, and I bought a ‘Sportbrella’ a large umbrella with sides that come down making it into a sort of open sided tent. Lift the tail gate up, put the Brella up over the top, pull the sides down and tie them to the floor with Guy ropes. It like having an awning up at the back of the car.
Looked pretty good! I actually just bought a mess of herring filets to do this same thing. Never even thought about buttered bread to go with it, but I'll definitely be doing just that! Cheers, Rob!
Hi Rob, You need a bungee for the tailgate. I was down the other day and saw 3 seals 🦭 fishing. They stayed around for about 15mins All the best fella Johnny 🤩👍🌟
My dad was the same, he would eat fish when out or in a restaurant, but would not allow it to be cooked at home because he hated the smell of it throughout the house.
As much as I love fish it does stink a place out. I work in a school and on the rare occasion when they cook fish in food tech it stinks the school out.
don't think I've tried fresh sardines, they looked good, i went to get one of those fish pie mixes until i saw the price lol I'll wait till i can get to an asda

Awesome place for a little cookout even in the rain.
I love it there.

@@woodstockpotter sounds like a great memory there. And a great way to cook the fish. May have to give that a go one day. ATB.

Good idea. I could’ve just shut the boot and sat in there once the trangia was out. There’s enough room in there.
Hi Rob, enjoyed the video. O yes they sardines looked nice.
@@christopherderges3457 thanks Christopher. As much as I love it, it’s good to try sardines that aren’t in a tin.
Nice cook up Rob, love fresh fish, bit of lemon and butter on it 😋. Great video mate 👍
@@aabbushcraft cheers mate. Bit windswept but most enjoyable.
Going to try those sardines myself.. 👍🏼
@@scottl5028 they’re lovely. Love fried fish.
Nice 1 MrRTR, great views while munching. Sardines looked spot-on 👍 small bit of para cord tied on the catch would keep the tail down i reacon 👌
Cheers Mr. T_P. Yeah could’ve just tied it down. It was ok until the wind came up and started blowing the rain in.

@@chado_outdoors nice one Chad. Maybe having bread and butter with fish is a British thing. To me it’s a must. Herring is a nice fish.

I enjoy going to Eastney spit. I also like going to the beach but in winter. Too busy in the summer.
That's a lot of fish Rob, looked lovely tho
@@michaellaing2067 cheers mate. More than I thought. Tasty treat though.

I only put 1/4 of an inch of meths in stove 👍
People seem to put varying levels in the burner. Good thing you can just seal in what you don’t use after a good fry up.

@@LezleysAdventures fish pie mix is so nice. Will have to get it again sometime.
