+Human Being, that's not necessarily true, as grohl is kind of a dictator in foo fighters. He decides how the albums should sound and the slow but relentless departure from alternative rock was wanted by him. There is absolutely no shame in wanting to do something different, but foos only became more mainstream as time went by.
Because it's grunge rock. As Otavio said it doesn't fit their current style. I was hoping that Rescued will somehow be at least partly a rebirth of grunge FFs but it didn't happen unfortunately.
That outro is one of the all time best. I always thought of it as a statement of intent - the way it fades out in a sea of feedback and then comes roaring into life again and keeps going on. Down but not out. Thinking about where Dave was in his life back when it was first recorded. I hope he finds that strength again.
This song was already melancolic when it came out, and still is, even for Dave I think, he looks haunted at the first notes... lots of memories from this era for him, and as a fan, for me too ahah!
In 1995 i have recorded the Brixton concert on tape, one of the first FF performances. It was few months after the Cobain's death, and that was the first time i listened to FF. The song was a revelation. First chords of the song still give me goosebumps after 20 years, the melody is 100% Nirvana soul. Too bad they shortened and somehow cleaned the song a bit. Still great band and song.
Exactly. Kurt's soul is on their first album, specially on a couple lf songs like Exhausted or Alone and easy target. Definetely Dave learned it good from Kurt. And we have to thank both for those outter space melodies. I still don't know what is what I feel every single time I listen to this song, it's like sadness but happiness and peace at the same time.
cuoccimix his best song, for sure. i still got the cd with the brixton concert, which is very loud and dirty (and yet a great 'octopus' recording for those days :D).
Бравый Матроскин Yeah sure, but those songs were about to be Nirvana songs. So I guess that if they finally decided to include those songs in a Nirvana record Kurt would of done the lyrics and played the guitar, Krist the bass and Dave the drums. But, yeah, Dave finally recorded it all by himself. And that's awesome.
asdfgd Kurt wanted to use daves guitar and vocal parts but just never asked him ! Yeh the first album is the most nirvana like but it doesnt really channel kurt, it's all Dave, more than anything else, personally i think kurt could not have done it aswell as dave
After all these years. Still my fave FF song. Remember taking the train to newbury st in Boston in July of 1995 to buy the album at tower records like it was yesterday. Thank you Foo for all of the amazing memories that your songs bring back in my life. Love you guys forever.
Must have been a real buzz for Pat to crank out this riff again alongside Dave. Was listening to this track today and decided to see when it was most recently played live. Quite recently to my surprise! That riff still does it for me after so many years.
rockboy360 there's that thing grohl said about showin kurt raw(er) versions of exhausted and alone+easy target and wantin kurt to work on them but bein too shy to ask, and then of course it was too late. It would've been cool to see where kurt would've gone with those tunes, but I'm also kinda glad they turned out the way they did, because they're great. Yknow?
Great jam...the thing is ..Grohl was 23 or so when he wrote this. aYears go by his voice & style change . The original is so raw & dirty , will never be able to re- create it like the 90's
Greetings from indonesia....i heard nirvana since 1997 till Now....FooFighters is medicine for me after Nirvana ....haturnuhun Kurt,Krist & Dave....foofighters 1st album is the best

Strange that I have an Exhausted single, then, isn't it? It was a 12" 33 1/3 promo on black vinyl released on 12 June 1995, and relatively few were pressed. This Is A Call was released a week later, on 19 June.
He is trying to say after his first album none of there songs compare to the later stuff they released still it's alright but nothing can touch the original Foo fighters album
Foo's first album is actually Dave's demo during his time in Nirvana, all instruments in the tracks were played by himself, literally it is dave's solo record, the sound of the record also quite similar to the Nirvana's in utero, especially the drums, that is why the following albums are very different bc they worked it together
I miss Kurt so much I will never forget where I was at when I found out what happened to him I was 14 at the time I was In home room A in highschool I do not believe he killed himself.
While it does sound weird, it’s still rly good. I definitely will agree their oldest songs have a special charm to them but their work after the first album was still amazing.
Stop comparing the foo fighters and nirvana, all those people saying kurt would be proud, stop speaking for kurt, yeah maybe he would be proud but stop adding to the shadow that already hangs over dave, its time to shutup about nirvana, how would you like it if you were constantly reminded of how you failed to save a close friend's life and the whole world pretended to be on your side? Please just embrace the foos for the band they are, not the band the succeeded
@@mazzy87236 No. Please stop talking about Kurt's opinions on the demo. There's already an interview with Dave on Kurt's thoughts and I suggest you take look at it.
0:43 "Fuck, I play like Eric Clapton..." 0:53 "Oh fuck me, I'm good" 1:13 "I even look like him... but sexier. I'm a sexy Eric Clapton God of Rock'n Roll" 2:51 "Can you move like this and still look like Eric Clapton?... No, ah? Didn't think so" 3:14 "I have Parkinson" 3:17 "Hey Kurt, that's a scream! Got that?" 3:22 "I can open my mouth! Look, haaaaaaaaa" 4:11 "Huf, this one stinks so much I'm gonna faint... I like to play drums in the toilet tho!" 4:15 "Ho, here comes a hard one! Ouch! And another!" 4:18 "God, this one is soooo fuuuckin' loooong! Wow, feel better now."
Nothing can touch that first foo fighters record. Exhausted is one of their best songs, and used to be one of Kurt's favorites too.
Serena A. Skjäst This song was written by Dave in 1992,Dave played it to him and Kurt really liked the song but he wanted to change the lyrics.
My favorite too,Exhausted it's my favorite Foo Fighters song!!!!

Danjoker TCATS is better.
Human Being So was the 2nd album pretty much.
All the songs from their first album needs to be played more
+Giacomo Massucco or for all the cows
couldn't agree more.
Of course, their best album is the best!
Exhausted,Down in the park and Baker street should be played more!!! At every concert!
Andy Faith no More guitarist Down In The Park is a shitty cover. Marilyn Manson version was superior.
This still should be the last song played at every Foo Fighters concert
Just like old times…
New Way Home all day erryday
that guitar intro is so ridiculously dirty... i love it
Why they never play this in this days??? This is the most powerfull Foo Fighter song ever, by far!!!
Because it is an old and sad song. Doesn’t fit their current fanbase’s taste. And that’s ok, time goes on.
Because it's grunge rock. As Otavio said it doesn't fit their current style. I was hoping that Rescued will somehow be at least partly a rebirth of grunge FFs but it didn't happen unfortunately.
What do they typically close out with, Everlong?
@@NewYorksMostWanted they did, they said they USED TOO end it off like this until 2003 i believe
Rest well, Taylor Hawkins, though you’re gone to another place, the music you made will be with us and within us forever.🕯

0:42 - 0:42 Dave remembering the good times.
Absolutely!!
Remembering when dave make a demo about this song in 92 when dave still on Nirvana. Such a good times :)
Can't believe this show was almost 10 years ago...RIP Taylor...
He was subconsciously getting Nirvana out of his system with that first album
My favorite Foo Fighters song,a MASTERPIECE. The first three Foo Fighters albums are my favorite.
Thats because they are the best by a wide margin
And this is the best song by quite a bit too
First album is still my favorite album..brings me back to my youth , seeing them in small ,hot clubs !!
Fuck.. 2012 was long time ago. Why is the time running so fast..
Over a decade ago!
Life man, life
So glad they started playing this song again, their first album is flawless, and this is my favorite track.
This song was already melancolic when it came out, and still is, even for Dave I think, he looks haunted at the first notes...

One of the best live Foo performances
15 year old me wishes we could start all over and try this again from the end of Exhausted.
Couldn’t have said it better myself whyso. Amazing times in 1995. I was a junior in HS
@@thomascrooker4703 If only we could do it all again. Avoid the current bullshit.
after friday’s news, i couldn’t agree more
the first foo fighters records is the best
Oh man i love that riff
Cobain has wanted this song to be a nirvana song. The lyrics would have been changed and the guitar part too. Amazing song
Raphael Cote I don't think so.. Marigold was never changed, and Kurt loved Dave's songs.. He would have kept this the way it was..
@@Duke_Togo_G13 Dave stated he thought Kurt was too afraid to ask to change these lyrics.
He also wanted Nirvana to record Alone+Easy Target
Cool I never knew that
reason I picked up a guitar when I was a kid... THANX FOO!!
I just learn this song today... the full album is great to play on guitar...!!
BEST SONG OF FOO FIGHTERS! the first cd of foo fighters is the only one i like.
My favorite album, man!!!!And this masterpiece is the best song of their album!!!!

Never forget Nate was there too! I'm sure he loved those old gigs.
R.i.p Taylor a true legend
3:38 like "You remember Nate how we killed it playing this song at Brixton and the crowd went nuts?"
FOO FIGHTERS IS THE BEST BAND EVER !!!!!
The first album is awesome! but I think it would've fit perfectly in Nirvana too, it's just so grunge and simple.
That album is just a good definition of grunge. Distortion and complex mindblowing melodies.

Only one person can replicate and even improve Dave’s drums from that record: Taylor Hawkins. How fierce! Rest easy.
What a beautiful song
Still a great song, but I like the 1995 Bristol version better, more raw, extended and high energy.
J C He isn't in his 20s anymore. He's almost 50, you can't bounce around the stage like that when you start getting older
Kayla Webb Umm... Yes you can. His hero Lemmy did it until he died.
Duke Togo But not everyone can do that
Bristol or Brixton?
High energy? This song is depressing no matter what haha.
Nothing will beat the album vers but man, I would've done a lot to have been there.
One of my favorite songs of all time.
This sounds really good
Love this song ❤️
Still my favorite. Just such a great groove.
