Lots of players using Blade paint jobs on the ATP and WTA tours are not using Blades. Many are H22's (with a variety of different layups) and some are Steams and perhaps other things. Raducanu uses a Steam not a Blade for instance. The Blade Pro is basically an H22 and credit to Wilson for making this available, it's more or less a 'pro stock' frame. I'd argue the standard, retail Blade is the most popular paint job on tour, not necessarily the most popular racquet.
As a long time Blade user, the V9 performs exactly the same as the V8, it doesn't have more spin, more power, feels the same in stability. However, the one aspect that the V8 beats the V9 is the feel. The feel on the V9 is absolute trash, yes they made it more forgiving and less harsh on off centre shots, but that just killed the feel, its so unbelievably muted. This leads to less control and accuracy for me because I just can't feel the ball as well. For me personally, I'm pretty advanced aggressive baseliner who specs up my Blade, the V8 is just so much better. I guess if you are a newer player who doesn't really care about feel and touch shots, get the V9, but if you're more advanced and want more versatility with finesse shots, stock up on the V8.
Totally agreed with your comment. I demoed the V9 16x19 and I just don't like the feel of it. Like it's none! But I have a theory that the V10 will be more like V8 for the feel. Wilson will try to get to more people with V9 but hardcore fan will definitely go with the V8 feeling.
hi, im coming back from 10 years Hiatus trying to come back to be fit again is the v8 98 any good for let say a beginner again? confused on buying the clash 100 or v8 98s @@kawaiinamkhanh7956
Great way to feel the difference between the two using your method (one hit then switch and hit with the other). I've done something similar with Blade 100 V8 and V9. 100 V9 is also a little more stable especially on volleys.
Same here on the 100 v8 and v9. As mentioned in the video i get more confidence when hitting with the v9 for the same reason. But play both side to side and they are too similar. Both keepers.
First timer watching your channel. Well done! I have always been a Blade user, especially since Wilson sponsors our Director of Tennis, and the Tennis Pro Shop Manager (me), at our club. Your review is spot on. You could easily have 1 of each in your bag and whichever one you play in a given day…it feels good.
0:40 The current Blade paintjob of the period has been applied to racquets of the who’s who, you mean! 😆 Emma and Alex use the Steam, for example; but the Blade PJ is near universal.
Excellent review! Thank you. I have played with Blade 98S 16x18 with Yonex Polytour pro 1.20 and it has been very nice feel, comfortable, haven't found that with any racquet so far. Not sure if the strings are responsible for that, I usually play with soft poly (Volkl V-star) and I have tried the same Yonex string on Vcore 100 - where I did not like it. In terms of playability I think I'll have to try 100 v9 to see if it suits me even better. Pure Aero suits my game quite well, but it's not so comfortable which is a dealbreaker. Edit: 100 v9 does play better for me!
I’m a Head Gravity Pro user but added the v8 to my bag since it’s a legitimate great stick. I demoed the v9 and was not wowed enough to consider buying and for my taste, the v8 cosmetic is far sexier.
Has anyone definitively figured out if v9 grommets will fit in v8? All I've been able to find so far is 'same mold, they should' but not anyone that's tried it yet. Cheers!
@@mteca5093 i believe it was almost the same. Unlike the 98 which you can feel the difference. V7 & v8 i prefer v8 since the paintjob is so much higher quality. V9 is easily scratched

And just for my reference, what did you think of v7 feel?
I bought v8 because it was cheaper. I'm so lucky to read this comment

Ditto bagged the Roland Gaross V8 Blade for £116 don’t know wether to string it or frame it 😂

Was a lot of fun doing it this way too! 🎾

How about a comparison between the 98 and 100? Which one is better ?

I already have a Wilson Blade V8 100l and I'm considering buying a second racket. Would it make sense to upgrade to a V9 as my second racket?

Hi guys, how do the current Wilson grip sizes run? I've heard they are almost as big as Babolat's. Is this true, or are they still the same?
Hello! greetings from Brazil! A comparison between the Wilson Blade and Diadem Elevete would be interesting! thanks for the videos!
Sorry guys - you're trying so hard to sell blade v9. Just tell the truth honestly - we will trust you more in the long run.
Enjoyable video boys - v9 looks great!
Do you prefer the v9 or the v8? 🎾
v9 for sure!
Raducanu uses Steam 99. Not Blade.
Steam 100 rather
V9 100L and 101L are the best platform rackets wilson makes 100inch
Just so you know, it was same exact racket with those v7 & v8 counterparts. I have multiple gen 100L. Ridiculously nonexistent transition
