Then youre right, its perfect timing! Im working on the next few videos now, so hopefully Ill have them up asap (maybe 2 weeks, since I started a new job, for which Im on trial now, Im extremely pushed for time)
Congratulations on the new job and I love the fact you deliver commentary with out being overly critical of designers which is unfortunately the norm. Wishing you all the success
I agree, actually sometimes its frustrating to try to research something because its so biased. I recently did a video on Jeffree Star for underskin, and its incredible how hard it is to find unbiased information. Obviously I know he is extremely divisive, but still, there should at least be a few more sources
Its definitely in the works, but after I missed my own deadline for this fashion week, I think it will have to be for next fashion week now to get the algorithm to like me more
Thank you for another fantastic video!! Could you do a video of the differences between different fashion weeks and what benefits each have for an up-and-coming brand? (f.e. when is Paris a better choice than New York, is there anything interesting in Milan left etc...)
I discovered this brand not too long ago and I love it so much ! I really want to get something but I need to save up lol Also happy to know they are from Switzerland (where I am as well) but unsurprised they had to leave to be successful as it's the case for most creative fields over here...
They really have such a great vision, but Im with you that I need to save up 😭 in regards to moving for success, I think most everybody has to move for success, even if you live in rural England, you have to move to London, most Asian designers show in Paris if they want to see some worldwide success. It’s a system that I don’t think can change, but I hoped with the Internet it would bring a little more awareness
I grew up not having that much. I see no reason to pay these luxury prices when you can buy decent clothes for decent prices by designers on QVC, HSN and Shop NBC or nice clothes at reasonable prices that last at a store or online. Your better off saving and investing that money for the future. I used to buy new dress or shoes for events. Now I wear what I have, unless I will need to purchase new.
I hope you enjoyed the video regardless of if you knew the brand, but I agree, the aesthetic does look quite dystopian. But I also think that if they added to it a less worn alternative that it may come across a bit like the world in The Time Machine where there is a huge power dynamic and Eloi and Morlock live separately. Itd be an interesting development for sure and I think it would soeak to our current society. Idk if theyd realistically be able to do it bcs of merchandising in stores, but its an interesting thought
Thanks for creating good content for us. Would you consider making videos discussing the trends for menswear? It's sad to see how the brands are acquired by LV OR Kering....
I think youre right that that would be an interesting video, but atm Im trying to build this channel as the place for fashion brand breakdowns. I did want to have 40 videos minimum before branching out, but with my interview and another upcoming video Ive done it a bit earlier than expected. Maybe Ill make more trendy content in the future, but for now I think its smarter for me to stay consistent
@@understitchYT I admire you and you teach me lots of ways to understand fashion! Thank you. It's a lot of time and effort you have put in on research so I agree with your strategy!
As always a terrific and well researched video! I recently saw Ottolinger is doing a collaboration with Puma, and the piece I saw looked good, but not as interesting as their "ceramic" bags.
I do enjoy the bags tbh, but theres just so many collabs these days that Im worried itll get lost in the mix (I mean, even I didnt mention it in this video)
@@understitchYT I agree, there is collab fatigue, for sure. The collabs are often a way for some consumers to buy a bit of the brand at a more affordable price.
Oh definitely, but thats also how it began in a modern context when Karl Lagerfeld did it with H&M, before that designers would have whole lines within another company
I have SOOOOO MUCH TO SAY on this topic, but also, Im careful about my channels brand, so Im trying to stay on topic of the fashion meets business analysis. Maybe one day when my brand is more established I can branch out a bit
I would love to do a video on The Row, its one of the most respected celebrity brands and theyve gone about it in such an interesting and healthy way. Im glad theyre having such a moment now, and I see much bigger things in their future
Theres a pretty good youtube video called how trustworthy is diet prada that questions their validity and wether this culture at all is okay. Even when I was at uni, using elements of design was considered good design, you were influenced by designers, things, animals etc, and as long as it wasnt at exact copy, thats your interpretation. Its swung pretty hard in the other direction now and I dont know if its very conducive to design. Tho its very different if a huge brand like zara steals from a small brand, thats definitely taking advantage
I really don’t know much about diet Prada nor do I vouch for them! But it was just a little bit too similar to the previous designers work. They also couldn’t produce any sketches or preliminary designs for the Doja Cat piece, especially not any dating before the release of EXPO-33’s. As artists we all deserve to thrive off of each other’s creativity and are all inspired from pieces of the past. I just believe credit is where credit is due, especially when the original, small designers can barely afford rent while the 1% gets richer. Imitation is flattering i guess tho
@@GillianDeVaal I of course agree that references , when very influential, should be explicitly explained. But, I genuinely think that this idea could have been arrived at individually. To be honest, when I was at CSM doing the foundation, there was someone who made latex garments and they made one really similar to it, and that was an extremely long time ago. I dont really think either have an original design with that top, and so its believeable to me that they both just came to the idea individually, but ofc thats my opinion, so I could be wrong
lmao they steal from smaller designers consistently , especially NYC based ones. I love your videos though, just hope they keep their ideas more original in the future
Can you give examples? I couldnt find anything of them stealing apart from the one claim that was included in this video that as you saw I think wasnt a copy imo
It's great to see such an interesting brand succeed. Fantastic video as always!!

Never heard of it. Very cool. I know they say it's not dystopian, but the aesthetic from a basic search sure does give off dystopian vibes.

Please make a video about Celine under Hedi Slimane
Oh thatd be AMAZING 🤌
Great video.
Can you please make a video about Dolce & Gabbana is having a resurgence and well known celebrities are starting to wear it again.
