The idea of Ron just running up and decking Voldemort in the face and grabbing his wand, the proceeding to swear and dunk on the death eaters is strong.
My favorite part, wish it wasn't cut in the movies
When Ron Said “It’s Weasling time” and Weasled all over, I lost it. Bravo Rowling
@@Illuminandi_ I love this
Liquid luck is just one of the many completely world changing revelations in the Harry Potter series that just got swept under the rug as soon as it was introduced because exploring the implications of such a substance is too difficult. This shit should be THE most sought after and addictive substance known to man.
Good point, it’s quite literally changing fate. There’s no spells to change huge things like that. Only killing and morphing and moving shit. But oh god imagine the amazing drugs that would come from the wizard world 😩 I would def love to try some of that Butterbeer with magical codeine. Or some insane hallucinogenics
The drug of Hogwarts
I thought the whole point of liquid luck is that it actually does nothing, it’s more of a placebo effect. Ron was never given the potion yet still performed well in quidditch, even though he thought he had taken the potion.
@@oddbulbsaur935 could be, even when Harry took it he just got high for a while and he got slughorns memory when the affects had clearly wore off
@@oddbulbsaur935I don't think so. Ron was bad in Quidditch because he was doubting himself. When he thought that he drank liquid luck all his doubts disappeared and began believing in himself. However, liquid luck would have some special qualities. As an example: Harry drinks it with the intention to go to Slughorns office and try to get the memory for him. But when the effect started his first thought was to go to Hagrids place, unbeknowning that he would meet Slughorn on the way and actually making him fellow him without actually trying to "force" him. I don't think that can be explained as placebo. Of course this is based on what happened in the movie.
Let's be honest, the whole "wands can change loyalty" is a big bullshit. It feels Rowling added that at the very end when she needed a justification for Harry being the master of the Elder Wand, and she put half of that lore before the ending revelation in order for that to not be way too obvious.
I can understand the whole "killing the master" part of ownership but disarming is wayyyy out of hand.
@@CKzoidYT let's not forget that harry becomes master of elder wand by snatching DRACO'S wand in the Malfoy manor.
Might as well be you take the wand it’s yours now
The first time wand loyalty is mentioned is in the first book. To quote Olivander "The wand chooses the Wizard, Mr. Potter. " that line alone can be interpreted in so many ways and directly states that Wands are sentient to an extent. My issue is that I can't disregard it since it is written down in the books and stated clearly by multiple characters and wasn't later retconned during a Con.
I don't think wand loyalty is inherently bad. I kinda like it actually. But having Harry disarm Draco's wand, and it counts is BS. The whole disarming changes loyalty is kinda Dumb. It sounds like it should be mind blowing the first time you read it. But that amazement sort of disappears when you really think about it.
It would have been better that Rowling left that aspect out. Instead, when Harry meets Voldemort in the forest in book seven, he's hit with the killing curse and then comes back to fight Voldy again, at that point, the wand could have recognized that Harry was superior to Voldemort and actively betrayed him in the final duel.
I have never really thought about it but it makes a lot of sense, as you can see Voldemort wasn't the Wand's master but he was still very powerful. So if Grindelwald is it's true master then it's almost impossible to take him down without something like liquid luck
Is it that hard to accept that Albus is tremendously powerful, skilled and powerful, at the very least enough to beat Gellert as the true master of the Elder Wand?
@Freak Show i mean if Dumbledore really wanted to kill or hurt Gellert then he would succeed i just found the topic interesting is all
So the take I saw somewhere which I agree with is that the elder wand isn’t that much more powerful, yeah it can repair wands and yeah Voldemort was powerful with it, but he is also powerful already. If the elder wand made you so powerful how does it keep changing hands so often, in the story of the Hallows we see it is more of a curse for the first brother and doesn’t help him all that much
@@paulpoumet773 doesn't dumbledore himself say he was only a shade more skillful?
@@moozaman1809 because he boasted it, and was killed in his sleep, the Elder wands goal is to find its final master right? I don't think so, I think the elder wands goal is to kill as many wizards as possible, and a true "master" will never reveal he has the wand. Dumbledore went a LONG time with the elder wand, but everyone already knew how powerful he was. The only way to stop the wand is to great death of your own accord as it's master, Harry's plan is to give it back in Dumbledores tomb and die without telling anyone where it is. If he wanted to, harry could have just destroyed it right? I don't think so, no more than the invisibility cloak can fade, and more more than the stone can decay. The true purpose of the hallows is to kill the owner, even the invisibility cloak, but to truly master them they need to keep it to themselves.
Would be cool when they make a film version of their duel is beforehand Dumbledore and Grindelwald are both offered a vile of Felix by their entourage but both turn it down on principal and respect to each other. Winning fairly if you will.
The elder wand doesn't care about the disarming thing, it merely cares about the better wizard. It's power is a farce, or deeply hidden, and it gives up essentially on its weirder if it deems the person they are dueling is a better witch/wizard
I don't know enough to give an opinion on how it chooses its master but a different guy like 2 comments up just pulled out about 5 book passages as well as a couple examples showing that the wand is indeed more powerful than other wands. Tldr in case you can't find the other comment, wands absorb magic and learn from the wielder, most wands are buried with the witch/wizard when they die so they usually only have 1 master, wands can gain an affinity for certain magic and since this one has been wielded by all the greatest wizards (especially those who use dark magic) it has an affinity for the dark arts unlike other wands. And lastly, it repaired Harry's wand when Noone else could or even knew how, all he did was cast reparo which would not work when using a different wand, showing it has power
@Thomas Dick so the wand is great, as far as wands go it is perfect, but what I meant is more like that "secret ingredient soup" thong from kung-fu panda. It is am amazing wand, it can do magic extremely well, and it can do things that most wands can't. But, it doesn't have some special ability that makes its weirder particularly better than anyone else. And it is also theorized if it does have that power, it can only be used by Harry, as the wand sees him as the ultimate wizard of all, one who has faced death twice and lived
Dumbledore simply has that DAWG in him
Grindewald not being the true master of the wand is impossible. We know Dumbledore became its true master, FROM THAT VERY DUEL.
We know, or we are told by characters in the story? We only know as much as the character narrating.
@@adegboyegaojengbede1818 Dumbledore disarmed Grindelwald, Draco disarmed Dumbledore, Harry disarmed Draco. Harry is able to use the full power of the elder wand and becomes the master of death. The fact that Harry was able to use the elder wand fully is proof
Grindelwald stole the Elder Wand and was never the true Master, Dumbledore became the true master as He beat Grindelwald because the Elder Wand felt Dumbledores power, Grindelwald never had chance as the Elder Wand never truly worked for him and wanted Dumbledore to Win. Dumbledore years later gives up the Elder Wand to Draco Malfoy by letting him Disarm him, making Malfoy the master of the Elder Wand. Harry Disarming Malfoy allowed Harry to become the Master of the Elder Wand. Also before this Voldemort and Dumbledore have a duel in the Ministry of Magic, this Duel was key because the Elder Wand felt Voldemorts Power, Dumbledore being a Great Duelist he is the Elder Wand stayed with him and made a mockery of Voldemort. From then one even with the Elder Wand in hand Voldemort never could use it properly because the Elder Wand has already felt Voldermort is not worthy. Harry (Dumbledore also) was the True Master of the Elder Wand and the true Master of Death.
@@dannysharp5648 uh no, sounds cool but it’s literally he just stole a stick and because of that murdered the wizard equivalent of hitler.
How can Grindelwald even be the true master of the elder wand if he is defeated and disarmed by Newt and Tina in Fantastic Beasts? Unless Grindelwald accquired the Elder Wand after that.
But in Fantatistic Beasts 2 he must have have the elder wand, right? Otherwise he wouldn't be able to summon such a powerful fire dragon and defeat countless of aurors with it.
It can make some sense with the wand loyalty thing. The wand switched loyalty to Draco because not only did he disarm dumbledore but he had the intent to kill him even if he didn’t end up doing it, his life was in his hands. Harry not only disarming Draco but then saving his life could’ve meant the wand saw Draco as inferior to him even if harry would never try to kill him it switched to harry. And the wand worked fine for Voldemort except against harry because the wand saw harry as the superior
If Dumbledore uses it Grindelwald definitely uses it too. I imagine liquid luck works like Atium, two opponents using it cancels eachother out.
Why would he just happen to have it. It's extremely rare.
@@ethanv7330 They’re equally skilled wizards with comparable access to resources. I’d assume if one of them can craft the potion, the other one can too

Tina disarmed him... completely ignored that
Actually in the movie script it tells that grindelwald drops the wand right after he was caught by newt. And tina only summons the dropped wand with accio.

he dos not have the elder wand in the first movie
When your defense against the dark arts teacher says let’s work on the disarming spell today 😂
I think it’s a show of just how powerful dumbledore is. Not only is he the more powerful wizard, but he also wins even with the elder one. I personally like that explanation better than dumbledore having some outside help. he is a wizard who is more than deserving of the elder wand
The wands true powers turn off when a powerful opponent approaches and the wand wants to test the owner on their own power
I've always theorized liquid luck wasn't actual luck, as luck is an abstract concept, but Supreme confidence. When your 100% confident in your abilities, you can do things you may not be able to do otherwise.
Unfortunately nobody asked brother
Or y'know. It's a magic luck potion.
@Sivrn Val it's magic, it doesn't have to explain itself. But it's probobly just a magic luck potion.
Shut up
There is a whole youtube video on it, but the wand itself isn’t anymore powerful than another. It simply is great at judging the power of a wizard. It betrays it’s master whenever they come up against someone more powerful (in the case of dumbeldore, dying from the curse on his hand and completely depleted from his excursion to find the not-a-horcrux). The wand failed Grindelwald, ensuring his loss, because it new dumbledore to be more powerful. Hence the illusion that “it’s the most powerful wand”. It always ends up in the hands of the more powerful dualist.
This
Ooooo. That's pretty solid
It is more powerful than other wands.
I disagree with that video.
Tales of beedle the bard:
“Believers in the Elder Wand, however, hold that because of the way in which it has always passed allegiance between owners - the next master overcoming the first, usually by killing him - the Elder Wand has never been destroyed or buried, but has survived to accumulate wisdom, strength, and power far beyond the ordinary.”
Tales of beedle the bard, Dumbledore:
“As can be seen, Godelot considers his wand to be a helpmeet, almost an instructor. Those who are knowledgeable about wandlore will agree that wands do indeed absorb the expertise of those who use them, though this is an unpredictable and imperfect business; one must consider all kinds of additional factors, such as the relationship between the wand and the user, to understand how well it is likely to perform with any particular individual. Nevertheless, a hypothetical wand that had passed through the hands of many Dark wizards would be likely to have, at the very least, a marked affinity for the most dangerous kinds of magic.”
This quote here is really important. Wands are said to absorb power from those who use them. The elder wand recognises power dominion and goes to winner and has been used by the greatest wizards of all time, Voldemort, Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore, meaning it has absorbed the expertise (which would increase it’s power) from the highest power wizards and would be much more powerful than ordinary wands. This wand is greater and more powerful than any other wand.
Tales of beedle the bard:
“Most witches and wizards prefer a wand that has “chosen” them to any kind of secondhand wand, precisely because the latter is likely to have learned habits from its previous owner that might not be compatible with the new user’s style of magic. The general practice of burying (or burning) the wand with its owner, once he or she has died, also tends to prevent any individual wand learning from too many masters.”
The elder wand has learnt from the greatest.
Also, we know the wand itself does magic other wands cannot. Harry’s wand was irreparable until he used reparo on it with the elder wand. Hermione couldn’t repair it with her wand.
And even Ollivander said he didn’t know any way Harry’s wand could be fixed after that amount of damage it had taken. But the elder wand fixed it with a simple Reparo. It’s power goes unparalleled.
Deathly hallows book: “Ollivander held out a trembling hand and Harry placed the two barely connected halves into his palm. ‘Holly and phoenix feather,’ said Ollivander in a tremulous voice. ‘Eleven inches. Nice and supple.’
‘Yes,’ said Harry. ‘Can you -?’
‘No,’ whispered Ollivander. ‘I am sorry, very sorry, but a wand that has suffered this degree of damage cannot be repaired by any means that I know of.”
Deathly Hallows book: “He laid the broken wand upon the Headmaster’s desk, touched it with the very tip of the Elder Wand and said, ‘Reparo.’
As his wand resealed, red sparks flew out of its end. Harry knew that he had succeeded.”
Elder wand>any other wand.
Spot on mate. It's funny how many comments are from people who don't understand it.
@@denizkenger52 sorry, I miss spoke. The elder wand is not inherently more powerful. Any other wand (such as harry’s or Voldemort’s) would have equal potential to be as powerful or more powerful than the elder wand if they were used by exclusively powerful (and more importantly, ingenuitive and experimental) witches and wizards.

Dumbledore didn't use Felix felicis to pull off his moves, Dumbledore used a time turner. That's why he always knew exactly what to do and where to be throughout all the books.
Tina didnt use expelliarmus to disarm, but used accio. If if tina gained the elder wand, the wand will still likely loyal to grinderwald.Because grinderwald lust for power is greater than tina so the elder wand would never abandon gellert for a wizard like tina or newt.

@@maltegodkas4931 at that time dumbledore was ready to die,but malfoy has greater need for power than dumbledore.so elder wand abandoned dumbledore for malfoy. Its really confusing how this elder wand works.
Elder wand life be like : you never lose if you always switching side to the winner
Honestly the whole "I've taken your wand so it's mine now" I watched through the whole Harry potter series with my grandad and we had a list of all the wands that should've changed loyalty and it was just mental, people's wands are easier to steal then picking up money that'd fallen from someone's pocket
Doesn't it only apply to the Elder Wand?
@bahamutzero4903 It applies to all wands but doesn't really matter most of the time. The wand only switches allegiance when actually taken from its original owner. So if a wizard is hit by a Disarming Charm but able to still pick up their wand afterwards, nothing happens. Except maybe the wand loses a bit of respect for its owner. The intent to actually take a person's wand and keep it needs to be there.
Wands changing loyalty is the biggest plot armor bs in the whole series, and the character literally has love armor…
Elder Wand is tricky wand. If it has so much power, why so many wizards lost it. What if this wand can sense the more powerful wizard and change sides before duel? Voldemort had 1/7 of his soul, he was garbage at the end. May be Elder Wand could sense Dumbledore power level during the fight with Grindelwald.
In the books:
Dumbledore >= Grindelwald > Voldemort
but Dumbledore wasn't gay yet (Rowling's interviews made him gay).
The wand loyalty rules are just whatever the plot requires at the time
Considering the lore of the elder wand, I doubt even luck could save you against the might of its full power.
I like the idea that Dumbledore is just so phenomenal it doesn’t matter if his opponent has the master wand or not. He still gonna win
The thing is that Felix Felecis is kinda hinted at not doing anything. As drinking to much will make you overconfident which doesn’t have anything to do with luck and probably means that it does nothing as it just makes you more confident by believing that your luck is better and will win.
Dumbledore really just said “MRBEAST!!”
When tf did Ron, Hermione, ginny split liquid luck in hb prince.? Must have missed that part
You had to do more then simply disarming them. You had to kill the previous owner of the Elder Wand to gain full control of the wand.
That was literally debunked by the last book. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
An entire book on wand lore would be incredible
I mean, Grindelwald never disarmed the previous owner he just steals it in the middle of the night.
He stunned gregorivtich
they should chug that stuff like it's water. there's absolutely not a single situation in existence where you don't want to have absurd amounts of luck
But Felix Felicis takes months to prepare
Grindelwald did not have the Elder Wand with him in the first Fantastic Beast, he use the wand of Percival Graves, because it will be suspicious if the USA minister of magical justice suddendly change his wand after so many years without explanation, and also because Grindelwald's wand whas too much recognizable.
Fun fact: Percival's wand is made out of Ebony, wands make of this wood linked with wizard who have strong convictions and doesn't afraid to be themselves, wich is ironic because Grindelwald want to be himself to the muggles world, but have the appereance of another wizard when he try too do it.
Yeah but draco didn't have the elder wand when Harry stole his wand and yet harry still became the master of the elder wand
@@flips4dayz936 you can disarm ANY of the weilders wands and the Elder Wand will still pick the person who performee the disarm. It's less about stealing the actual wand as it is proving you're more powerful, if the wand sees that you are stronger, it will choose you.
@@senseiace8039 I know, before the comment I was replying to was edited they had put that Grindelwald didn't use it as Percival so he didn't get disarmed, I was correcting that
Dumbledore wouldn’t have used it.
Don't underestimate the power of a phoenix.
Agree. Dumbledore would have done a fair duel, whoever the opponent is.
I feel like Felix doesn’t really work that way. For instance. let’s say you take it before a fight you know you have very little chance of winning. I think Felix would make it so you survive unscathed via a series of coincidences.
@Larry Koopa he didn’t have the elder wand for this fight so I have no idea what you’d be referring to, unless you’re talking about “ancient magic”
Pretty much Dumbledore was looking for knowledge his entire life. And he said that he has problem when is about power in his hands, he would like to has the Elder Wand.
These wands are the real villains, switching sides instantly
when grindelwald changed his personalty he changed his wand as well
I would like to think in a world of supernatural magic that you would incur a terrible karma from using the liquid luck. Let's say you use it, then for weeks, months or even years later a series of many bad events may unfold around you until the universe is returned to the natural balance of order.
The elder wand's true alliance was with death. It seems to me the only way that the elder wand would change hands is when the elder wand could tell who the more powerful wizard was.
Regular wands can switch loyalty after its wielder is disarmed, but the elder wand will only change loyalty when someone kills the previous master, will the new master being the one who killed the old one
Except grindlewalt never killed it’s previous owner
My question is, if liquid luck is seriously so powerful, why would Harry not dedicate his prodigious fortune to obtaining as much as possible. It would have made the search for the Horcruxes a walk in the park, fighting the Death Eaters far easier, etc. It's basically like being on easy mode in life for a few hours.
The entire concept of working liquid luck is stupid. It doesn’t matter how hard it is, it would be produced in big amounts by the insanely rich wizard families
The Elder Wand's strength is proportional to the strength of the wizard; however, the Elder Wand probably can cast any magic the wizard has the ability to do.
My theory: the elder wand is designed to kill efficiently from the shadows like Death, so one can assume that if you lost a battle with the elder wand, you fought in the open rather than firing avada kadavra while being invisible. If the owner isn't actively killing people, it may decide to lose on purpose to a new stronger host who would be more willing to kill people.
Think of the wizard as a sniper and the Elder Wand is a sniper scope while normal wands are a red dot sight.
Nope, elder wand is really powerfull.. any magic that casted by it is more stronger and effective.. like how harry can fix his unfixable wand with just simple reparo.. but it not make you invincible as in duel not only strength but also skill that matter, so you still can lose.
In DH book, in Rita’s interview, she says ‘my readers might be left thinking that Grindelwald simply conjured a white flag’ about Dumbledore and Gellert’s duel
Dumbledore had raw talent, intelligence and skill. The only fear he had in facing grindelwald was learning if he was the one who caused his sisters death
He could have used liquid luck in year 5 so he could give harry any kind of heads up for the hell hes gonna endure
Tbf that's a good point about Tina Goldstein, she disarmed Grindelwald when he was meant to be true owner of the Elder Wand, but somehow after that Grindelwald was still the true owner once he fought Dumbledore
I think that the wand can only change hands if the master was defeated like dumbledore “was”at the end of the half blood prince
Every wand have their own personality. Some wand is more loyal than another.
That liquid luck bottle no joke looks like a adult plug
I like to think over usage of liquid luck is viewed similarly to alcoholism and that dumbledore is a massive alcoholic
you have to see Fantastic Beasts again because it is first in the middle of film no. 2 that he gets the new staff, it is not something they explain but you can see that the staff is replaced.
and it's not always enough to just take their staff from them, you have to defeat them, or would they have to change staffs constantly during battle training.
this is also why if snape had killed dumbledor before draco overpowered him, he would not have taken over the wand as they had agreed in advance that snape would kill dumbledor
As graves he’s using a different wand so Tina didn’t disarm him while he used the elder wand
The real question is, why the liquid luck isn't mass produced? Imagine if both side had drink it, which side does it favour?
As Professor Slughorn explained during class that making a single vile of liquid luck took him seven months to brew. This seems to imply that the successful brewing of this potion even at the hands of a Master was a tedious and lucky experience.
There’s a theory that Dumbledore’s wand is Rowan Wood and it was the 3rd brother from the deathly hollows wand and it’s said Rowan wood has been said to not have many masters and no from oliveranders has chosen anyone and it’s said that they’re powerful and they powerful wand for protection which Dumbledore uses his wand for protecting not harming. This would mean that wand is his 2nd wand cause it was state his 1st wand had a pheniox feather.
The Elder Wand would choose Dumbledore THEE MOMENT it 'saw' him, much like it became Harry's in the Forest before he sacrificed himself
When grindelwald was captured tina just "accio" The wand since it fell out of grindelwald's hand.
Dumbledore now is real powerfull and thus him younger probs even in his prime would be unimaginable
Very curious on the latest movie, FBSoD, as you can see on the duel between grindelwald, when dumbledore almost hit by grindelwald's spell he pushes it back like it's easy for him, it's either grindelwald is no longer the master of the elder wand that time or simply dumbledore has so much style that he's powerful.
These rules of the elder wands loyalty aren't absolute. They help you understand things after the fact, and potentially predict something, but they don't automatically means anything just because they happened.
It seems like there would be some risk of realizing the luckiest thing you could do is to avoid the duel entirely. You might have won the duel with a lot of bravery and a little luck, but with a lot of luck and no bravery you might just end up at the pub with your mates instead.
Walds mind was clouded, and he held back
Oh my, oh my. I never considered that he was disarmed in fantastic beasts. It's funny how even wizards don't fully understand wand law.
Dumbledore might've drank that golden juice at some point in his life. The fact that he became the most Powerful to exist should be ample proof.
As much as I loved Johnny dude Mads is fucking incredible in everything he does.
My Strange Addiction: Dumbledore and Liquid Luck
The elder wand doesn't make you more powerful. People don't understand how it works. The wand wants to be owned by the most powerful wizard which is why it changes hands so often. If you fought someone stronger than you while using the elder wand it would lose on purpose to go to the stronger wizard.
So Draco is stronger than Dumbledore?
This is fan theory
That's not a fact but a theory and not a particularly good one. There have only been two incidents when the Elder Wand's master lost a duel while wielding it. One of them being Grindelwald, the other Emeric the Evil
If this theory was true, then that sort of thing would have been quite a bit more common.
@@MartonDev yes at that particular point when Dumbeldore was pretty much dead already. In that weakened state Draco would have been stronger.
@DerLetzteMonarch Well, obviously, it wouldn't happen often. If the wand is always going to the strongest wizard as time went on, it would be increasingly rare for someone to come along who was stronger.
He doesn't need luck. Its Dumbledore
The wand gridlewald lost actually was the wand of the Auror he impersonated
Now now, let's not make excuses for Secrets of Dumbledore...
She should've put If you disarm someone with the elder wand ONLY and elder wand senses it's opponent is stronger then the wand would switch sides
Actually, there is another trick to the elder wand. The wielder has the option to give it up willingly, and the elder wand senses the wielders intentions. That’s why the elder wand never recognized Draco or Voldemort as it’s true master. Draco disarmed Dumbledor, but Snape is the one who killed him. Dumbledor already intended for the wand to pass to Harry because he knew Harry would never use it, and in fact would destroy it. It was a similar enchantment that was placed on the mirror of desire in the sorcerers stone, only one who had no intention of using the stone, would be able to attain it.
No. As stated by Harry in the books. Dumbledore intended for the wand's power to die with him, that it would have no living master because he willing gave up his life to Snape. That's what he told Voldemort in their duel when he was explaining about Snape not being the master He never intended Harry or anyone else to become it's Master, definitely not Draco. That screw up happened because Dumbledore was weakened at the time and used the seconds he had to freeze Harry with a spell instead of block the disarming spell by Malfoy.
The Elder Wand is outta pocket.
Grindelwald never disarmed its prior owner or taking it from their hand. He broke in and stole it. He had possession but was never really its master. When Dumbledore took it from him, he earned its allegiance even though Grindelwald was never the true master because he took it from its “owner” by way of the duel.
Liquid Luck = Whisky
Ah yes, Harmony Granger.
My guess is not a potion but some kind of "fantastic beast" is what helps. They've gotta keep shoehorning them in there
That’s what happens when you don’t properly establish how the Elder Wand changes loyalty.
Remember when Harry used buckshot on Malfoy? Then just left...
That's just it....The elder wand was taken by killing the original owner while he was sleeping
So if thats the case every single person that used if after that was never the true owner of the elder wand.
He did not use Liquid Luck he used the love that Grindilwald still had for him just as Dumbledore still loves Grinilwald and they both are still in love with each other when they both meet there end and hopefully reunite with each other in the after life
I prefer the carlin brothers theory. That the elder wand chooses which ever witch or wizard that is most powerful. It explains why that girl disarming grindelwald doesn’t mean anything. Its like a power level 4 disarming a power level 8, the wand doesn’t care that it was disarmed because grindelwald is the stronger wizard. But if dumbledore was the one that disarmed him, the Wand would change allegiances because dumbledore is a more powerful wizard than grindelwald.
I like to think the elder wand doesn't like the use of liquid luck
Would keep the wand's reputation intact.
If Dumbledore can win a duel against a loyal Elder Wand, legitimately... then it's not a very great wand after all.
It's kinda supposed to make you unbeatable lol.
That's the entire point of the wand.
Liquid luck as the counter, lets the wand retain it's legendary reputation. To make it even cooler, it'd of been interesting for him to still be injured, even with liquid luck, but not killed, like the wand can almost overpower even liquid luck lol.
Dumbledore is just a beast. Plus Gelert wasn't really the master of the wand from the beginning he stole it from Gregorovich's shop never won it in a duel, however he was just powerful enough to use it without it acting up. Dumbledore gets it from him during a duel and he was a beast wizard and the wand recognized this and embraced him as its master it's damn obvious
This short and alot of the comments are incorrect. The elder wand chooses who will win the duel before its even started. It is the most powerful wand only by name. It was a gift from death to only encourage more death. Everyone that wields it puts a target on their back. Causing duels to be more frequent until a more powerful wizard comes along. Harry was the more powerful wizard because not only did he have his own magical prowess, but he also had the blessing from his mothers love magic
There's also a big chance Snape took FF when he returned to Voldemort at the end of GoF.
The elder wand knows who is the stronger potential wizard. And that wizard wins. That's how it works.
No because all it does is lets you see hidden chests for a day
It was shown with voldemorth when he used the wand with more strength it could handle it cracked, but if it wasn't grindelwalds wand it should have cracked with him as well
I think a better theory is tyat the elder wand just seeks out the strongest wizard and chooses them. The elder wand doesnt actually make you more powerful just attracts more powerful wizards.
Think of it this way. If a less skilled wizard challenges the elder wand user, they'd probably lose anyway. If a more skilled one challenges them, the wand will choose that challenger and make the other lose.
Tina didn't disarm him. Grindlewald dropped his wand after Newt captures him and Tina just accio'd it. Accio doesn't mean disarming. Expelliarmus is.
Muggles: I'd rather be lucky than good.
Wizards: Why not both?
If I remember. The wand is based off of your mental strength. If your disarmed and you allowed it to happen then the wand is still yours but if you let it happen so you can give the ownership away then the wand isn't yours anymore. If your weak the wand will change owner ship too. I'm sure doumbledor had many students practice disarming skills on him but the wand was still his since the wand knew the difference between an actual battle and pretend.
If you go back to Deathly Hallows, Grindelwald took the wand from Gregorovitch’s shop and never defeated anyone for the wand.
(One big question is how Gregorovitch got the wand, did it disarm the previous owner to get the wand? Or just got access to the wand to study it. But just stealing the wand from the shop should have been just like when Voldemort took it from Dumbledore’s Grave and not becoming the Wand’s master)
Pretty sure he wasn't using the elder wand when Tina disarmed him. It would give him away while he was still disguised.
When Tina disarmed grindelwald, he wasn't using the elder wand, he was using Grave's wand, so she would've become the master of that wand, but not the elder wand
He literally explains in the short why that doesnt matter
I bet dumbledore drinks Felix felicis every morning instead of coffee
Pretty important to remember dumbledore didn't win their duel they just decided to stop fighting.
That wasn't the famous duel that defeated Grindelwald. That was a precursor.
Dumbledore juices before every fight
Tina says "accio" to call the wand... she did NOT disarm grindlewald. He drops it when his arms are restricted by newt.
She never used a disarming spell.
the wand must have been loyal to grindelwald because it became loyal to dumbledore after he defeated him
Correction Tina Goldstein dis armed him of a different one not the elder 1 so so she is not the owner and even if he retrieved it would have a rebound curse Put upon him but it didn't get your fax straight
