I was a nurse 20 years ago; my hospital had a dedicated wound care nurse that used many of the products shown. I assisted turning, and placement many times with her. These are decades long proven wound care products. Thank you TUP for your accurate information.

You sound just like soneone being paid for your connent. I've been a patient for 40 years. Sure these things can beceffective but... the main thing is to have the thibgs you NEED to see you don't get hurt.

I love the use of the high quality materials. I keep a nose clamp in my kit. If you’ve ever had a gushing nose bleed, they are a game changer as they allow you to clean up the area, and yourself while keeping your hands free.

I suggest keeping a few 2x2 or 4x4 gauze pads for wiping away blood before putting on the steri-strips for instance.

The Honey is something I keep in my first aid kits. It can be used for
    Hypoglycemia
    Coughing
    Anti microbial
What I wouldn’t recommend using it for is burns.
Instead get tiny packets of burn shield or waterjel burn dressing. Couple that with a tefla non stick dressing.

  • @georg.pl_
    @georg.pl_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I would suggest adding a povidone iodine prep pad or similar (like the ones with BZK) for proper wound cleaning before closing it with the steri strips. The last thing you want is to seal bacteria inside a wound.

Man, this is high tech! And very expensive if you don’t work in a hospital. 😄 It beats anything we carried on the ambulance but then it was a CITY ambulance and care is secondary to cost. I can see lots of things I want to add to my kit. Thanks for this.
On the more practical side if you have to buy all this stuff, partner with some friends who also want kits & split the cost.

  • @ellenmcgowen

These modern dressings are very good but it's still useful to have a few sterile gauze pads in your kit. They are used to stop (non-arterial) bleeding by placing them over the wound and applying pressure and elevation. You can also use them with water and chlorhexidine soap to clean a wound and the surrounding skin before applying a dressing.

  • @csluau5913

It’s a great idea man. I really like it. I’ve got about five different first aid kits all in various sizes from family size, two fall trauma kit, two backpacking size, two EDC. One thing I would say is you make great choices on some of those dressings and bandages. However, I did notice there’s one thing missing which I would consider to be a staple item in a first aid kit. Just in case you’re not around water or you don’t trust the water that you have available I would suggest having some small Celine single use applicators. They look like those little I wash bottles but scaled down smaller. Those things can really come in handy. I try to always have a water bottle or something with water in it so that I can use that to wash your wound if it’s got dirt or particles of debris in it. Just a suggestion.

In the UK we cannot get Triple Antibiotic Ointment in fact we do not have any medicines in our work first aid kits at all (except you might find Aspirin for one reason). I would have alcohol wipes. Also check out Burn Gel as it the best thing for burns and you can get it in single use.

You DO NOT want to put honey on a burn! It can lead to a serious infection. UC Davis burn center recommends a clean, dry dressing for burns only until treatment can be provided at an ER or Burn Center. (I’m a flight nurse and prior ER nurse of 22 years).

"Anything of good use" is whatever you have on you, whenever you need it, I guess. Wouldn't you say? My EDC medkit is full of cool stuff, but it has grown so big, that it's no longer EDC. So, if anything should happen one day, I would have nothing of any use, because my kit would be at home 😎
