Matthews upper body injury is his shoulder/shoulders. He's had weak shoulders from the start of his young career. Been out of the Toronto lineup many times because of shoulder injuries in the past. Teams got a bullseye target pinned on both his shoulders. That's why he travelled to Germany!
As suggested elsewhere, Toronto should do a Tampa Bay and keep Matthews on LTIR until the playoffs. His salary would allow Toronto to bulk out their roster for the playoffs. It would take Matthews to agree to lose a year's stats but it would be best for the team. In the playoffs, the play that may have hurt him is standard so the Leafs may think of moving Matthews to the wing, I am a Habs fan but I sincerely hope Matthews is back soon and fully healthy. The game is better with him in it.
What if he is better in a week or two and he does not pass the league's LTIR requirements? The league has to check him and approve a player being put on LTIR.
@@johnsummerhill8323 Well two points - have you ever been on disability or had an employee off with a back injury? If so, you know back injuries are almost impossible for a doctor to determine as being healed. Two, the NHL saying they "check" the status of players on LTIR is as stringent as their quality control of referees. There is no conceivable way the NHL would overrule a player and/or his doctor saying he is not ready to play.
Point of impact appeared to be his left side below the armpit. That indicates a possible rib injury. That would explain his lack of energy and stamina since his return. It would also explain his erratic and low mph shooting. A cracked rib puts him out for 3 weeks. A broken rib is obviously much longer. We shouldn't have to be guessing. To their discredit, NHL is all in for gambling. At the same time, a now no transparency on injuries unofficial policy.
I have no problem with Buffalo targeting Matthews as a leafs fan, I wish more payers played hard against the superstars, than stands around watching them dominate, the best way to beat them is be physical against them.
He should be traded over paid and just terrible this year Johnny Toronto is doing 100% better. Goaltenders are doing great sad our new big boy is out for a month. I think first place in the division is great so hope they keep it up.
David Kampf lol PFFFFFFF 😂

7:17 when David Kampf is the best player , something wasn’t right 😂
Matthews hasn't looked right for months now... hockey is a full contact sport, in the play offs EVERYONE hits to hurt 🤷♂
Stick it to Scheifele... AGAIN! 😂
You messed up the spelling of his name so badly that Google is offering to translate your comment to English. 🤣🤣🤣
