Young guys make a LOT of mistakes in playoffs. Everyone complains about the Leafs getting knocked out of the playoffs early... and then in the next breath want to inject a bunch of Young guys. You think that's gonna get you over the hump??? A bunch of young guys ADDING to the mistakes. Mistakes that you have to keep to NIL to win a game?

Young guys don't win cups! Foot speed doesn't matter too much in playoffs. How sold is Edmontons roster???

You're right. Goalies ONLY play 50 games/year. You're forgetting that they play 60 minutes/night, not 15-25! Goalies have been underpaid forever! Time for the mighty big bad Bruins to step up to the plate. Game on.

The big questions is - will Matthews playoff disappoint again next spring? Think Leaf fans likely can expect another good Leaf regular season this year. That is something to be grateful for.

How does a Leaf fan approach this season knowing that this team's chances are no better than they were the previous 4 seasons? I like watching the games, but I can't seem to build up any excitement for this team, like I did in 2021. It's depressing because I watched the Leafs win 4 cups, and want to feel that excitement one more time before I die.

I expect Cowan to continue his hard work and dedication to his craft. I expect the Leafs to push him to preform to his max capabilities and reward him when he succeeds.

Anyone on here he says leafs don't need McCabe shouldn't be commenting on a hockey channel. McCabe has brought Venoit to the next level and put the incredible entertaining value McCabe shows up with heart, throws the body so consecutively other teams know ow they need to be careful and when he does connect especially in the playoffs it's all out and winning teams have a plethora of that.

Absolutely love McCabe and what he brings to the team. However, 5-6 million per(OVER double what we currently pay)for a guy on the wrong side of 30 is just a bad call. The Leafs could get a younger guy with more upside at that price next year.

I still say the Leaf’s we’re signing Hakanpaa in July so they could use his salary as LTIR until Steve Simmons threw a wrench into the works when he mentioned a career ending knee injury. Ever since then it’s been silent running.

McCabe will be 32 will next contract starts. Leafs don't need another aging Dman who has peaked. LHD are relatively easy to find and the Leafs already have Reilly,m OEL, Benoit and maybe a few from the Marlies.

It would have to be a very solid defensive center who is above average in the faceoff dot, to knock Kampf out of the lineup. We've seen what Kampf can bring to the table, thats why he got the bump in pay in the first place. He had a down year last year, but he's been a reliable penalty killer, responsible in his own zone and good on draws since he came in. Does that mean he can't lose that spot? Hell no, he's gonna have to compete, same as any other bottom 6 forward, but im just saying its gonna have to be someone better to take that spot and as of today, i don't see a better fourth line center in the organization, but anything can happen.

Lorentz would be a solid add if he's not injured. Guys was an absolute puck hound in the corners for Carolina. Not very skilled but works hard

Unfortunately doing that made it impossible for the Leafs to get a Simmons type player at the Deadline.

It's also harder to trade. If u did it with tavares, he would be untreatable by the end of his contract.

Based on playoff performance Nylander has been the better player as of late. For me Mitch is the one they have to part with or get his new contract reduced. Managements hands are tied because the leafs are too top heavy. Most teams that make the final only have 2 players that make over 9 million. The Leafs have 4. Two of those contracts have to be reduced by at least half to be able to get better defensemen.

Why is Timothy llegren such a lock for top six Once Berube figures what he is, Dakota Murmus and Chatfield should be ahead if him. I have no idea what llegren is. He's certainly not offensive or defensively responsible . To me he's trade bait along with Robertson's rights and Calle Jarnkrok.
