This game was a mirror of our prior seasons. In the past it would have been Leafs that got 40 shots and goalied. It would have been Campbell or Samsonov who would have let in the OT goal. It would have been us complaining our elite forward got bulldozed with a check to the head with zero push back from the Leafs. Last night was a Keefe Special!

Connor dewar is fast and he plays hard. He’s a great playmaker. Holmberg got lucky getting that goal but he was in right place at right time.

Only one guy showed up. Where is the leadership on this team? They were playing great then something happened and they are right back to skill over effort.

You can tell this is a different style this year.The shots on their goal are consistently lower this season.I bet it is a good 5 to 6 less a night.

If you don't play defence, the goals come fast and easy. You know like the last 4 years.

Leafs have only scored 7 goals in the 7 games that Stolarz played in. Stolarz could be undefeated if they score at least 2-3 goals a game when he’s in net.

It is past time to move on from Robertson. For everyone involved. The Leafs were playing a really good style of hockey that won a lot of games. Then something happened and they went back to being a skill over effort team. They need to go back to being a team that is patient, plays solid defense and then scored opportunistic goals. Split up Marner and Matthews. The highest paid guy in the league can't demand an 11 million dollar winger to pump up his numbers. He is expected to perform, period, full stop.

What went wrong? Matthews was playing. All you have to do is look at the stats.

Trouba has been pretty clear that he doesn't want to play in Canada. Maybe he would consider a playoff run, but I wouldn't expect much past that. Robertson was a wasted pick. It would have been better to gamble on a 205 cm defenseman who fights and gets giddy at the thought of crosschecking someone for standing to close to the Leafs goalie. What went wrong? We are used to watching the Marner lead Leafs and now we are back to watching the Matthews led Leafs. Teams lose games and that is fine but the last two games were examples of skill over effort. Skill over effort has been a constant theme when 34 is the leader or de facto leader. The Leafs best games this year happened when he was in the press box. It very much looks like causation not correlation.

There is no narrative. Woll needs to prove he can stay healthy and we don't need to shake our goalies up. Best tandem in the league and best we keep it that way. Love them both. We need to pick up players, goalie spot is solidified. 1a and 1a. Defence and net taken care of. Need to get tougher and add a couple forwards and leafs are set.

Probably going to have a tough December Leafs fans. The buds may end up in 3rd by Xmas; don’t be shocked.

If the Leafs were able to acquire, Kadri from Calgary, Big Z from Boston, Schenn from Nashville, and Olivier from Columbus, Toronto would have an identity and definitely be a TOUGH team that no team would want to play against, especially Florida!
