I had this video back in 2001 when I got several Prism kites: the Elixir, Illusion, Illusion 2K, the Ozone and Alien. I still have those kites and are in great shapes! Now, I want to start flying again!! Learned a lot from that video!
I hit a wall on stringing them together,,,I know once I get by it the door will open to alot of fun stuff just been stuck there for so long. I live in Redding CA, almost no such thing as smooth air. Plus I've never even seen anybody else that flys. Got 3 prism kit, wore the bridles out on my 3D and prism sent me replacements. Hats off to them. Thanks guys.
I'm watching this in November 2024. I live in NE Seattle, close to Magnusen Park, where part of this was filmed at Kite Hill. It's wild seeing the park before the trees got tall. Now on the kite hill, there's kind of a wind shadow from southern winds, except at the bottom, closer to the water. The other sections look like Westport or Long Beach, but I can't tell for sure..
Just seen this one, I'll pass it on to the guy's and girls in the Harlow Kite Flying Page, I'm sure they would find it interesting to watch. . Great flight.
I love sliding, especially when I have an audience. They’re always like “wait, a kite can do that? Really?” 😂 Back in 1997 when I started trick kiting the cascade was called a “tic-toc” and multiple axels a “helicopter”. Guess we just made up our own names haha
I'm still working on that one myself. In stronger winds, if I can pop one wing up, I can usually get enough air to lift it up. In weaker winds, I'm taking a walk. :)
You can do what's called the dead launch. With the kite belly down dose towards you, take all slack out of the lines first. Here's the trick. 1. Make a firm pop with both lines that only pulls about a quarter inch of line. This is tricky and takes practice and can damage your kite. But it will cause the kite nose to bounce about 6-12 inches of the ground. 2. Immediately after the pop sweep your arms back to pull air under the sail. This method is hard to learn but once you learn it it can be very useful.

Marvelous work of pros and very generous of them to share their teachings and secrets...well done.

just bought a quantum 2.0 super excited to start flying it!
So much useful information, thank you so much, you have opened up a whole new dimension to kiting for me!

Thank you for sharing your video
Great videos!
I need to get out kiting again!
Two years later, I can’t get this thing in the air 😢 does having the tail on make a difference?
Amazing ❤
That is an awesome kite I have a prism quantum it is a lovely kite
What line length do you use? I'm guessing about 100 feet.
Normally 12-20 meter depending on wind. More wind, longer lines. Shorter lines give you more direct control.
What can you do about the kite on its belly with the nose towards you? It just hugs to the ground like a plow :-(

I'm just a beginner and this is happening all the time LOL
@@blsaltzman Lots of walking...so glad they talked about that in this video.
I used to pull on the lines to get the kite somehow moving into a better position. Since this made a standoff break, I prefer walking haha.
