Subscribed to the website in 2019, I still go back for reference to this day..
I've reckon I've also been meaning to buy a TIG button since 2019 too, one day I'll get around to it =D
Love your vids, always been a fan. I spat my drink out the first time I heard you actually speak...I'm still not entirely used to it hahaha

I joined years ago, and also paid for a subscription for a kid that works with me, saved him much grief from not learning bad habits. His welds are now phenomenal and we have a good time critiquing each others work and compare it to your welds!

I did my welding apprenticeship in the early 70s. I only did TIG at trade school so it's long forgotten. I'm fascinated by the technique of "dipping" for want of a better term. Would you like to discuss the step distance? By the way, what drew me to subscribe is just how precise and therefore how pretty your beads are.
Just want to add that I was not that neat and found grinding the lesser evil to make my fabs attractive. Your welds add to the beauty of the parts you build. Not just functional, but art as well.

step distance is a little different per situation or project and material, but ideally you keep the step distance tight, to not have a low spot between last dab and the ridge of your next dab. too far of a step distance gives higher chance to cracking.

I've been a long time subscribed to your channel learned a lot of things over the years of paying attention. I loved when you welded the bike to the light pole with the Primeweld Tig 225x.. That is wear I was sold on the machine for sure using a Honda eu2000 generator. Keep up the great content 👍🏻 definitely gave you a 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you also for all the great education you show us...

I’ve welded oil cooler lines and done repairs the experts said couldn’t be fixed! Pretty isn’t the only measure, is it sound and resilient to a fracture! Knowing how to use your equipment is more important than technique!

I've been a professional aluminum fabricator for decades and customers pay big bucks for my dimes and weaves. There's always going to be someone telling you you're doing it wrong.Thats usually someone that's looking at books and can't weld😂

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your viewpoint, this is what people have come to expect in TIG welds on aluminum. The interesting thing, based on my experience, is that in critical applications where fatigue life is a requirement of the design, aluminum welds have been ground and polished flush. Another aspect that I don't think that many people realize is that until the advent of the 4943 alloy filler, aluminum welds are weaker than the parent metal. Thus, the weld properties drive the design of the fabrication. Also, this is the reason why many large aluminum structures (primarily in aircraft) are either adhesive bonded or rivetted for assembly. Some of the fabrications that I do, I grind and polish the welds flush. It does give it a nice aspect of seemingly being made of one piece of material.
Those are beautiful welds in terms of consistency. I am slowly getting there.
