Effortless is a strong word here, she’s definitely straining on some notes (notice the voice crack on the first lot of no no no’s). Shame cos she’s got a great voice, wished that she could’ve learned better technique back in her day and preserved it abit better.
I couldn't have told you who opened until I read that, but that's exactly right. Saw them in Tallahassee. Get out of the way, 'cause I've still got that crush, too. Actually cool to see her and Spyder still together (at least last I saw anything about them).
Who wasnt just a bit in love with pat benatar during this time. I loved this song and yes this probably is one of the best live versions on TH-cam but she did this thousands of times singing this just as great.
Pat has THE voice and still going strong, too!!! I know there are some decent musicians today, but back in the 70's and 80's there were so many great music artists with raw talent and music writing abilities.
Holy fucken shit!! I love it for the rock, but she is so fucken hot. It is all about the rock. This is great rock-n-roll. The whole band is really great. --I watched the footage of the plane land in NY in 64, but this time it was 82, and this time as a guy, I am going to faint.
One word BADASS!!!! Breakdown.... This is a really odd song to play 'cause you really gotta be focused with all the changes on the chords & scales & I'm a bassist.. I love those "live sexy & demented looks" on the faces of Pat & Neil at the end of this performance. Love that feeling.... No wonder I had a picture of Pat in my locker in High School...BADASS!!!!
Undoubtedly Pat is a really Queen , a goddess in Rock and Roll music....young stars that make Rock music ( not Pop !!) must learn about arrive to be a high and true Star looking performances like Pat´s, Janis´s ,Tarja´s or the singers of Heart,Jefferson Airplane or Shocking Blues( Mariska ) and maybe too Joan Jet or Suzy Quatro in the sense to FEEL rOCK !!! From Lima Peru
watching an interview with Gregg Bissonette and Myron Grombacher picked up a few things and then went AHA, now you had to see Myron before Gregg came out, I did in Derringer and he's wild live, stage presence, standing up playing , long arm movements, he does this wild thing when he wails the snare he lays way back so he dissapears you only see his arms, that's where Gregg got it, when Gregg graduated college and headed to LA he ran into (or stalked) Myron and they became friends and traded knowledge, and Gregg picked up the stage stuff big time
Back in the day, (30 yrs+ ago), my original band would throw in a cover every now and then, & I recall our singer's wife challenging all of our manhood's to do 'Heartbreaker'. Of COURSE we made it 10 times as HEAVY, and as it turned out, maybe the fav cover I have EVER done. I'm doing ALL I can to locate a coy and will download it once I do.
Happy birthday to Pat Benatar. 1 10 Rock out snd Rock on. Your place in Rock history is set. Thanks for giving us all you got. You have been blessed with Love and success
Really, really sexy! No one these days comes close, IMO. Notice how she never looks vulgar or awkward. Sexy is neither vulgar nor awkward! Take note Miley. Pat Benatar doesn't have to bend over, wag her tongue or perform in her underpants. Men everywhere were spellbound.
Pat Benatar is the embodiment of billion watt, focused, polished rock and roll talent. She is sensual but restrained and exudes class and refinement. I saw her on my birthday many years ago in her heyday - it was festival seating and somehow I got WAY down front, only about 15 feet from her and the stacks of speakers. My ears rang for four days after! Her guitarist/husband - Neil Giraldo - is just hell on wheels with a guitar, just fierce. I will never forget that concert. Miley Cyrus can't hold a candle to Pat and she never will.
Pic your best artist today and i doubt they would have made the cut back in the 80's. The pool of talent was the best in the history of mankind. The level of talent you had to have was just too high.
The greatest female rocker all time!
A Million Times Agreement!
Most of her songs are in that glass-shattering register yet she belts them out so effortlessly. Pat, you are a true rock goddess!
Live version is on a lower key
i saw her in like 98 or so, was terrible.
Effortless is a strong word here, she’s definitely straining on some notes (notice the voice crack on the first lot of no no no’s). Shame cos she’s got a great voice, wished that she could’ve learned better technique back in her day and preserved it abit better.
@@joshuawood362 she improved so much LOL
The true goddess is Ann Wilson, support it.
This performance is one reason why Pat Benatar deserves to be in the rock hall of fame.
just got inducted recently
She's senile to be inducted.@@1dognight166
Agreed
First concert I ever went to. Saga opened this show. 32 years later I still have a ridiculous crush on Pat.
I couldn't have told you who opened until I read that, but that's exactly right. Saw them in Tallahassee. Get out of the way, 'cause I've still got that crush, too. Actually cool to see her and Spyder still together (at least last I saw anything about them).

One of her best songs! Exactly how I feel about a lot of men.
Who wasnt just a bit in love with pat benatar during this time. I loved this song and yes this probably is one of the best live versions on TH-cam but she did this thousands of times singing this just as great.

"Your a heartbreaker - dream maker- love taker - don't you mess around with me! -"I promise I won't mess around with you!!!!"
Holy fucken shit!! I love it for the rock, but she is so fucken hot. It is all about the rock. This is great rock-n-roll. The whole band is really great. --I watched the footage of the plane land in NY in 64, but this time it was 82, and this time as a guy, I am going to faint.

TRUTH.
Yes, indeed! And part of that is because she had talent, not just looks!
Pat Benatar is the embodiment of billion watt, focused, polished rock and roll talent. She is sensual but restrained and exudes class and refinement. Floor Janson from Nightwish
Absolutely correct. The difference- Pat Benatar had TALENT! She didn’t need any gimmicks. A rock legend!
