2004 crown Victoria 210k miles everything on car works great and drives great, when I put in reverse ot takes 2-3 sec to go into gear, shifts fine into drive and shifts fine driving, it's just slow catching reverse, what u think?? keep up the great vids!!!

I bought a blue one for $3,500 last year with 56k original miles on it. It was pretty much new inside and out. Perfect, flawless interior. One of the best deals Ive gotten, so far.

@@jedifett5417 have a mechanic chek it out. I get 17mpg in the city, 25 mpg highway. Be faithful on oil changes the 4.6 is bullet proof. These cars are usually grandpa owned and babied. Mine has 150k miles on it and runs perfect. Mine is 2001

Agreed bro! In high school I saved up 4k for my first car & got a 98 bmw 328i. If I would’ve known about Scotty I would’ve picked up and older 5 speed civic or a lower mileage Camry/corolla. Woulda saved lots of $ in repairs and maintenance.

I was born in the very early 60s and my parents bought a Mercury Grand Marquis from the 1980s era. I had read in Consumer Reports Magazine that it had way above average reliability, and had rave reviews from the vast majority of owners. So, I urged my dad to treat himself and my mom to one, as they were driving from New York City to Roanoke Rapids, N.C. some 15 times per year to enjoy a lake house they'd bought down there. That car served my dad and mom in SPECTACULAR Fashion!!! Never, ever, did it need a repair, only reasonable servicing! I might argue that it was Ford's finest car for those who wanted a smooth riding, (with plenty of power) highway cruiser!

@@user-xg8yy7yl1d they certainly can rack up hundreds of thousands of miles reliably but I'm not sure if they outdo toyotas just because I feel most people upgrade before they reach 400k miles at least with corolas/camrys.

1982 Ford Granada, mom's car, Fox foundation, used in 1984.. 3.3 liter, inline 6. Well over 550,000 miles. Been to hell and back then beyond hell and back. I found a few Fox Granada's how much are they worth? I have a Granada Facebook page. We got the classic ESS 70's chassis Granada's. Which engine is better, (3.8 liter) (302 v8)?? Is mechanical fuel injection better than electronic?

My 2004 Mecedes E320 was a money pit, so I bought an 05 Merc GM and I love it. Great solid suspension 82,000. Well taken care of by an elderly couple . No rust anywhere. A really great car!
I have had 4 Mercury Grand Marquis (86, 92, 98, 07) and they all were excellent. Two of them were driven well over 230,000 miles. I highly recommend. On the highway I got between 23 to 26 miles per gallon and with regular maintenance there were very few unexpected repairs necessary.
Ive been wanting a late 80s or early 90s model. But was not sure on reliability or availability of some parts. Although my dad has an 86 bronco that is very reliable
@@himynameisluis13 My favorite of all was my 1998. It ran perfectly for 9 years after I bought it used and I traded it in with 243,000 miles. They are bullet proof cars, last a long time. All the Grand Marquis parts after the 1992 are pretty easy to find as all the models from 1992 to 2011 are similar. HOWEVER be very careful where the intake manifold with coolant plumbing is plastic on the 1996 through 2001 models. I spent $900 replacing the manifold on my 1998 but after that it was perfect, didn't leak antifreeze. The only problems are the airconditioning compressor and it's fan control resistors. My 2007 has been perfect except for the aircondition compressor.
That is what you should be driving, Scotty. Very comfortable for your back. Time to sell your Celica; and rev up your Marquis!

I actually own a extremely well kept 2000 Grand Marquis LS Ultimate with only 130000kms, I love it and will never sell it
This guy at my work has one same year as yours, it was originally his fathers car. He’s using it as his daily driver and the car still looks and drives nice with over 400000kms on it. He brags about the fuel mileages he gets on the hwy.

Love my 2010 I got this year in august. Only paid 6200 with 100,000 miles in immaculate condition! It’s also an LS Ultimate Edition. Somehow this summer on a road trip with the lady I got 29 mpg at 70!

One of my uncle's had a "stankin' Lincoln" (as we used to call them back in the day) towncar, and the other uncle had a Mercury Grand Marquise. Both of those things were tanks, and ran as smooth as silk!! Lasted a while, too.
The average person just cannot afford to drop hundreds of dollars to take their family to a sporting event whether it be Nascar, MLB or NFL. But go to a dirt track race in a rural area on a Friday night and it is packed because tickets are reasonable and so are the concessions.

One of the best cars ever made. The Crown Vic dominated the police car and taxi market. They were durable and reliable cars. It's a shame Ford discontinued them.

Those crown vics are great, last of the great 8 cylinder sedans with a body on frame front to back and rear fixed axle. That trunk can fit so many bodies, not that I have.

In 2003 I rented a Grand Marquis and drove it on vacation, 4000 miles in 2 weeks. I loved that car, super comfy to drive and got about 23 mpg on the freeway. To this day I want one but hasn't happened yet.

My uncle still has a 1999 Grand Marquis... a more than 240k miles engine and guess what, yup, it's his daily driver.
I have a 90 Wagon. 302 engine, 236k (roughly. odometer broke a few thou ago.)
I have a 98 GM LS, 200K, daily driver. Extremely reliable. 22Mpg. I do want a new car though, it isn't a cool car.

I put chrome tips on the dual exhausts, got a set of chrome side view mirrors, chrome fender Flares, making the car look much "Cooler' and with a silver exterior paint job... It doesn't look " Grandpa"anymore!😂😂😂😂

Oh the Grand Marquis, my grand parents had a dark red one and I loved driving it so comfortable and always felt so safe. As a matter of fact one time a compact car turned in front of my grandma she hit it, the small car had a smashed side and the Marquis had a scratch.
That's nothing! My dad owned a 1970s Caprice made of steel. In the 1980s a car smashed into its rear end. The Caprice got its paint chipped off; the other car was totaled.😃
Don’t forget the Town Car. Also one of the few American cars that lasts, and absolutely gobbles up highway miles.

My Mom's 2000 Grand Marquis has just over 100k miles and is like new. It had the intake manifold replaced recently (and was revised with metal in the key place instead of all plastic). I replaced a blower motor and all else is original. Rock solid cars overall.
Scotty I love your channel! I just bought a 2001 Grand Marquis with my stimulus money and although I've only test driven it, I LOVE it! Those cars are luxury tanks. I decided to buy it and trade up from my (don't laugh) 2003 Chrysler Sebring convertible. That P.O.S just had too many problems to mention. But anyway, you helped me decide on whether to buy that Grand Marquis and like always, you definitely know your cars!

I have a 98 merc marquis . I think it will run forever. That is an amazing year! 200K just broken in.
I liked the look of the 98 to 02 more then the 03 restyle, the 3rd gen had more chrome better quality wheel covers and the red glass on the tail lights and trunk was the old school glass. Ford put a muted red and later gray glass on the back that was ugly. The paint was also better quality every 03 through 08 marquis i see has peeling clearcoat
@@robertriley1569 :lol: True, and it is still running great. It is so smooth I think it stalls at red lights. I bought a polisher and detailed it and my neighbor said it definitely has better paint than his new BMW. 98-02 have the truck style dish offset wheels - because of the box steering.

I own a 2001 mercury grand marquis...I love it...bought it from old lady 4 $1500.00 garage kept 1 owner 160.000miles I'm replacing all the suspension and other than some ignition coils and egr valve going bad this car has been best used vehicle I've ever had! Awesome.

I’ve got my 4th panther. I’m 30 years old. Love these cars and by far not a hipster. Just an insane value. I currently have a 06 mercury. Leather, very nice. Got it with 59k miles for $6000. Currently has 91 and no issues. My friends grandfather bought a 04 new, the car had 270k miles on it when he died last year. Never replaced any major parts

Scotty I have a 2010 Grand Marque I purchased for $4000. with 53,000 miles that I use for my work car. Also a 2015 Tahoe and my wife drives a 2017 BMW X6. That Grand Marque runs better than both of them

Not yet my wife has been leasing them for 20 years now she turns them in about the third year before they start to cause any problems. The tires are run flats $400 bucks to replace without the warranty

It’s a quiet comfortable ride I guess they made up for it in the suspension $$$$. I’m a big guy if you’re over 6 ft that X6 gets small really fast

I have a 1996 grand marquis. Bought it 17 years ago with 51,000 miles on it. Now, 201,000. Engine & transmission run as good as the day I got the car. Recently replaced shocks. Rides like a new car!
Mercury Grand Marquis (MGMs) are AWESOME cars! I love mine! You're right about NASCAR. I started watching religiously in the 80's when TNN started carrying all the races. Watched it until about 10 years ago. Now you can't pay me to watch a race. They are no fun to watch.
I found my 200 8 GS in October 2018. An old lady who couldn’t drive anymore owned it 17,000 miles as new as you could possibly get inside and outside underneath. Still has the original brake pads all around and rotors original serpentine belt I replaced the 16 inch rims with 18 inch mustang cobra rims and Goodyear tires.
I have been shopping for new cars and wound up buying a 2000 Grand Marquis. It's the classic little old lady car and looks brand new. It's been getting around 19 MPG around town. I can buy a lot of gas from the difference between a $40,000 new car and the $3,000 Mercury.
Love pulling up my 09 GM next to lookalike beta soybeans in their lookalike Teslas. I can drive it 20 years and it'll still be cheaper and more fun to drive and maintain myself.

Just bought a 1999 grand marquis’s LS baby blue garage kept since bought by original owner . It’s the most well kept car I’ve ever seen literally looks brand new I’ve owned 6 cars now this beats any other dodge or Chevy I’ve had just a complete dime. I will keep this car for my kids

I'm on my 9th Panther Platform (CV, GM, TC) and I find, since 1988 they are the most reliable cars I've ever owned. My best was a 2004 CVP71 creampuff I got from WA state, it was a constable's car, no stripes, no cage, no black and white. Awesome car. My current is a 2006 Grand Marquis, with hwy gears. Not fast, not quick, but economical and dependable. Great cars.
Side note, my 88 Town Car went 510K miles before a ring landing finally burned away. 1 tranny change in that many miles, amazing...

Let me explain Grandpa cars:
Grandpa has been around long enough to know what's good-
Has saved enough money to (hopefully) to be able to buy something good-
And he doesn't have to/want to settle for some trendy new POS that you won't see on the road 7 years from now.
He has a plan to keep the car as long as he lives, that's why he spent the time and saved his money... and yes, he plans to live a long time!
PS I catch myself driving like a Grandpa and shrug my shoulders, saying to myself "when in Rome"...

I’m 28 and drive a 2003 Grand Marquis with 87k miles. A grandma owned it prior to me. Excellent shape and best riding vehicle I have ever owned. Funny thing --> Grand Marquis = Grandma Keys

We are on our 2nd Grand Marquis. The first one, when sold 2 years ago, a 2004 model had 320k miles on it. It’s still going strong the last I heard. I did have to have the transmission rebuilt at 200k miles. My wife liked it so much we found a low mile 2011 to replace it. The 2011 now has 110k miles on it now and, so far, the only problem with it was the battery cable harness I just had to replace. Some acid leak got into the jacket and deteriorated the positive wire going to the fuse box. Best to replace with OEM at $150 with that set up. But we do love the Grand Marquis. And you can pack a whole house in the trunk for trips.
I love my '08 Grand Marquiz. It is supposed to be a cotton-top car but I have noticed, 10+ years later *I AM STARTING TO GET A COTTON TOP!!*
I bought one over a year ago. Great car, cheap to fix, paint colors on the shelf in the parts store. Fits 2 toilets in the back seat, 1 in the trunk, all in boxes. Plenty of parts available in the junkyard. Door locks and handles might have issues. Squeaks and rattles, nothing too hard to track down and fix. Lower control arms and lower ball joints. Love my land yacht!
My 4.6L v8 has almost 200K and runs like brand new. Love that motor 🤙
I plan on buying a grand marquis 2002 with 240km for 1500$ are they easy to maintain on gas and maintenance?
I totally agree I owned one for 6 years never had any major issues with it.
it was a 2002 mercury grand marquis with 65,000 miles after 6 years of use it was at 220,000 miles and still felt like new.
the modular 4.6 engine with good maintenance is virtually bulletproof.

Wow, I just bought a 2003 Mercury Grand marquis 2 weeks ago from a buddy for $1000 with 155k miles on it.. It needed a front brake job and a new windshield but other than that it runs great!
@TheTallMan35 - got one of those myself. The LS Ultimate Edition. brakes are easy AF on these cars. you will appreciate the ease of working on it, and if you aren't a wrencher and take it to a mechanic for repairs, then you will appreciate the cheaper bill because it is easier to work on, hence less time used by the mechanic.

I have a 94 Fleetwood. For being what it is, it's fast. I've been told by several mechanics though if I put a higher gear (3:42) in the rear that it will really wake up.
We've had one since 2001 almost brand new. It now has 250,000 miles and is the only car that we KNOW will start no matter what. I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe that's had problems, a 1999 Ford Ranger that's been really reliable but has had it's issues, and a 1999 Jeep that was a hunk of junk. Honestly, if you want a reliable yet quick car, get a Grand Marquis or a Crown Vic.
I got one 1999 and they are really good cars.

I love em. They still have the classic look and very reliable. My father gave me his 2000 marquis it was my first car sliver with silver interior. It was very popular in my home country which is saudi arabia. There is a time when u cant find a family without a crown vic or marquis parking in the driveway. Also in the early 90's my uncle bought 4 brand new grand marquis and gave them as a gift to family members so there is a lot of memories regarding this vehicle.

Can't kill the Grand Marquis or Crown Victoria....they do and can run forever. My neighbor just bought a 2007 in fantastic condition with about 52,000 miles for about $3000. Car rides very nice. Super quiet going down the Garden State Parkway. Decent car for longer drives.

We're importing millions and millions of migrants from third world countries and they have no problem having families with 4, 5, 6 children, or more. We keep importing millions of people from Africa, the Middle East, and China, people who have never played hockey in their life. Soccer is ALREADY more popular than hockey in Canada now thanks to our recent imports. In another 50 years (mark my words) hockey will be a dead sport. Canada is the ONLY thing keeping the NHL alive and we supply about 50% of the players. Most Americans don't care about hockey. There isn't enough interest south of the border to keep the sport alive. Once Canada stops feeding talent to the NHL, it's all over. Given that the next generation of Canadians won't play hockey at all, the NHL is basically on notice.
@@taekwondotime I am a huge hockey fan, Blues fan from when I was a little kid, I think one of the problems that hockey has is that, imo, it is the one sport that doesn't translate well on tv. Being at the game gives you a whole different look and a better appreciation for the skill the players have. Every time I have taken a friend to a hockey game they have always left the game saying, "I didn't realize how cool hockey was", and they become fans.

It's #1 in Canada, but only while Canada retains a mostly white population (because black people are drawn to basketball, middle eastern people are drawn to soccer, and asian people are drawn to badminton, table tennis, etc...). It's really only white people that are playing hockey (for whatever reason).
Canada's population today is maybe 50% white people, but the average white family has 1 child (if that), not nearly enough to sustain the population, while the average middle eastern or black family has 3 children. So in just 25 years there will be 3x the number of black and middle eastern people in Canada. By the year 2045, whites will probably be about 25% of Canada's population or less.

I have a 2008 ford crown vic police interceptor and i get 25mpg on the highway driving from 65 to 75 mpg
I currently have a 2011 GM and sometimes get 29mpg driving at a 79 MPH pace. My daughter had a 90s model that was getting 34MPG if you drove it 65 and under. Awesome cars
I have a 96 vic with only 60,000miles and looks and runs A1, I thought I was losing my marbles when calculating 25 or more mpg average, I do mostly hwy driving. Great car only one problem ever was the plastic intake coolant crossover pipe. Oh and now an electric rear window regulator, not bad for 25 years.
I owned a Delta Integrale EVO for quite a few years. Totally reliable and, together with a 964C4, still the best car I've owned.

Car racing is still living but like you said it's dying but hey the hype might come back. That is almost the equivalent of how Nike Air Jordans and Nike Air Force ones were losing the hype but it didn't die completely. Some people still wear those shoes and that's fine. Some people that are still into cars still want to get into racing, I'm one of those people.
Nascar could also be affected by the new cars. In the old days young boys would help there dads work on the family car. Later they bought a fixer upper. They knew about cars and were trying to make them go faster. Cars today seldom need maintenance like they did in the old days. Just a lack of interest in cars resulted.
Jeep Cherokee also today’s cars are a lot more complex/difficult to work on and the cars from back in the day are a lot more simple.
I liked this video. I agree with the assessment of the Grand Marquis. I own a 97 Mercury Grand Marquis 255k miles on it. It runs smoother than my fathers new 2018 Forester.😂😂 Only issues I have with my 97 is rust, valve covers leaking oil and some suspension components worn out. Right after I bought it took it on a road trip down south. I was running 75 mph and getting 27 mpg.. Not bad for a V-8

I'm not a hipster I own Grand Marquis and it's not a grandpa car, strong engine body on frame, parts are super cheap in US and its burning 9.3l/100km on higway 100-120km/h and in city 13.4l/100kms not bad for a 4.6 V8 engine

Next time you replace the coolant, if you haven't done this, yet, purchase an OEM semi-metal intake manifold from 2002 or later Panther bodies, and swap it in for the old all-plastic ones that have a history of cracking and damaging the engine. Also fix any misfiring that develops ASAP or it'll blow the cat.

@@charlies.5777 Yes; all Panther bodies between 1996 (or '97; don't recall exactly) and 2001 have the plastic manifold. Research seems to estimate the total (parts/labor) cost of about $400-700, excluding the coolant replacement process. Cheaper than a new engine.

My mother had a 98 grand marquis, which my step father had when she died, then he gave it to me, and I drove it until 2019, when it needed some work onthe engine something, which was around thirteen hundred, I could'nt afford the repair so I let it go. But this car went 21 years without any major repair!!!!! Definetly the bestest car I ever had.!!
