got my kickstarter key the other day, going to give it a shot this afternoon, although I don't think I'm going to dive too deep into it till it gets closer to launch. I played darkest dungeon so much during early access I barely played it after it finally hit 1.0 and it felt like a waste, so I tend to go light on early access games now.
It's a good tactic to only play an EA a bit and provide feedback and put it down once you got the feel of it, so you don't exhaust yourself. Unfortunately I'm running into issues where the game is great, or superb, but then final version won't be out till another 3 years. I'm looking at you Last Spell. Hopefully this game doesn't have that issue. It's been in development since 2017.
No kidding! It was because of Darkest Dungeon and Naval Action early access that I now wouldn't touch early access games with a twenty foot cattle prod. I refuse to get screwed again.
Pretty happy to see more of the game so soon, that way you very appropriately started from further in while at the same time commenting on what changed from the demo, good times.
It is such a smooth brain mechanic to not be able to cast healing magic outside of fight... I know they want to limit it but there are other ways... like for eg you can use healing per character once per 2 "turns"/fields you move.
@@korinogaro because he's oblivious when he plays. Haven't you learned that by now? You just cant use it after the mission is over, cause your health doesnt matter after that.
I just felt chills when I saw the Dragon appear from the void clouds and just breathe unholy fire on that town which surprised me I never really get that feeling but it was a welcome surprise!
Just found this channel. It's perfect! Respect for illucidatng a game without spoiling. Excellent taste in games. Engaging commentary. Solid editing. Total win.
I am so glad Splattercatgamings videos started playing on my TV in my sleep, but woke me up with intrigue because a Magic School sim is my jam! Because there are a lot of games being recommended that I had never heard of and I am enjoying them right now.
I'm cautiously interested. I tried out Battle Brothers but was quickly tired of needing to micromanage everyone's misery. This might be more up my alley.
The game looks good, gameplay has that old school feel of tactical rpg feel which I like. What’s really throwing me off for a bit is the fact that your characters will not last long and will die due to old age. I get that it gives it a real life situation feel, however, games are ment to be a fantasy away from real life. This is a make or break deal for me since I can disregard my units somewhere down the road knowing full well that they will die due to old age. It’s their game and they want it to be like this so I can’t complain, just that I wish there was a different mode in place for players who don’t want their characters they built, leveled up, equipped, just so they can die due to old age.
I watched the last video about this too and to me it looked like the same enemies every fight. Looks interesting still but nothing is gonna beat Battle Brothers
To be honest game has a lot of potential if picked up by a bigger studio. Honestly though they need a lot more characters. 5-10 times the amount. Shouldn’t be hard as they have nice bosses. But the roster needs to grow.
Whoever thinks all strategy leaves the room when your attacks are up to a dice roll needs educating. Dice rolls fulfil the random potential aspect of success or failure in turn-based combat. The whole mechanics of old school RPGs is entrenched in this. This kind of stuff literally goes without saying, no idea why I'm wasting my time typing it to be fair...
exactly, people who think that way have it exactly backwards-- if you know for sure the outcome of an action it narrows the strategy involved, it does not expand upon it... they are just angry when they do not get the result they planned upon, but planning for the possibility you might fail, or only partially succeed thus requiring fall back plans is what makes it more robust.
I wanted to get Battle Brothers, but I just prefer the high fantasy approach. Also the animations look sooo good in this game. Reminds me of those DBZ gifs you used to see while browsing fan sites in the late 90s/early 2000s.
Been watching you for a while and really love your presentations. They are much more interesting than other channels I have watched. Keep up the awesome work on the indie games, but please, I beg you to put better tags on the type of games you are previewing. I personally don't like first person games and that is never put in the description, I always have to wait and listen to your spiel at the menu screen to find out.
"Cestus" is pronounced like "sestus," not "kestus." Threw me off for a minute and I had to go look it up to make sure I hadn't been pronouncing it wrong all these years.
@@zayuke and you know, sometimes it is all about timing and momentum. Hobbies come and go, our age is changing, our needs, games come and go. I can't spend 100hours testing their game, and when it finally gets released, to be all done with it, and bored, like any game in the world.
@@manolios Totally my toughts, i have a steam category named as "EA time vault" with some games in it, that i initially "tried" to see if it was good, and then i leave them there... waiting, to be completed to go and try again and enjoy them without being in complete (in some cases, barely unplayable). I think steam should do something about it, since i have games that have been easily for 5-7 years on EA, other abbandoned ones, and others that cashgrab and then stop evolving.
I know it’s pixel art so this will sound stupid BUT this game always looks great to me on my phone but when I looked at it on steam I can’t get over the large pixels. So my stupid question is…how “smooth” is the art? Are we talking circa 1990’s?

6:15 good point! Also making right-click (if not being used already) close/return to previous screen is a huge QoL function too

You can cast out side of the fight, the healing spell is below the consumables

Same! I also really dig the dnd-esk classes of units you can have
This game seems a bit over complicated to me. If the world events like that dragon attack would be random I might give it a chance.
Just dont let them slip into misery then. BB quickly becomes a diablo-esque itemhunt. Just turnbased. Awesome game.
I was keeping an eye on this and hoped you’d cover it for the release
I’ve been playing this game for the past 6 hours. I’m loving it! Can’t wait to see what they have in store in upcoming updates
Ok I love the old school graphics and the combat is tight, real tight
The soundtrack for this game was surprisingly delightful.
I have my jug of mead, pipe of special reserve and a seat by the fire in the nerd-castle. What could be a better way to spend the evening.
Just wanted to say thanks for putting the game name and genres in the title. It's so helpful for finding games that I'd be interested in.
This is one of those games i want to play NOW but i want all the content!
Game has so much going for it, especially with the introduction of mods down the line as mentioned by the devs.
You should have a must buy list on your channel. there a bunch of titles you've played that look amazing
Worth a buy is already a great channel that is also fun themed around this.
