45 Hours on Amtrak's BEST Sleeper Train: San Francisco to Des Moines

I fell in love with Amtrak years ago, when I'd see photos on Tumblr, and so I've wanted to take a long-distance trip myself for years. So when my boyfriend and I were headed to Napa Valley for a wedding this summer, we decided it was the perfect opportunity to make this dream come true - for both of us! While we flew out to California for the wedding, after a couple of days in Napa, we spent a few days in San Francisco (shout out to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Castro!) before hopping on Amtrak's California Zephyr Sleeper Train to get back home in central Iowa.
Fortunately, we had the time of our lives - and even got engaged during the ride home, right after we passed through Moffat Tunnel, just west of Denver! Follow our journey as we get from downtown San Francisco to Emeryville to hop on the train, get a full tour of our roomette, hear us talk about the amazing food in the dining car (especially the blueberry cobbler cheesecake!), take in some of the scenic views from the Observation Car and our private room as we travel through the Sierra Nevadas, the Rocky Mountains, and so much more!

Congrats boys! My husband and I rode from Chicago to SF in February and loved it.
❤️! We definitely want to start in Chicago (spend a few days exploring the city!) and ride the train west to SF! Did you guys get to see Salt Lake City?
@@bryanscottdugan Just the station at night. We did spend a couple days in Denver, though. We also took the train from SF to LA (about 12 hours).
@@bryanscottdugan BTW - we just took the Canadian (from Via Rail) from Vancouver to Toronto. That was even better!
You guys should come to vermont on Amtrak. We have two the Vermonter. And the ethan allen express and there is the Adirondack train goes to Canada via New York City
