    Hello from Fort Lauderdale, Florida! I really enjoy your videos and your comments about traveling on Amtrak. They inspire me to book a long-distance Amtrak trip across the USA. My husband is not a big fan of trains so I might have to travel by myself... hahahaha!

      Hi and Thank you! 😊 well, we met a couple of friends that travel together and one of them leaves her husband at home while they do. They were on a train with us from Chicago to Seattle and then were going down to California. We also met solo travelers and I think a train is a perfect way to travel solo. Hopefully you get to experience it soon 😃

    You’re lucky you got a room in the bag-dorm. I was in one of the older VL1 roommettes with the dreaded toilet.

      Hate the toilet! 😝

    • @Robert-yp9zs
      @Robert-yp9zs 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You must have had a bad experience with the toilet. In all the times I've had a Roomette on the ViewLiner I, I've never had a "toilet problem." Frankly I prefer the toilet in the room. Two toilets at the end of the hall...those can get "gamy" quickly.

    • @ronclark9724
      @ronclark9724 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, that toilet is nice for a senior citizen to pee in during the wee hours of the morning, but I pooped in the public restroom toilet down the corridor... Viewliner I roomettes have a quirk, a toilet not behind a private door...

      I had the toilet one way and the bag dorm the other. Toilet not stinky but I did not use it in daylight!

    you guys got the Viewliner II roomette on this journey. They're brand new and pretty damn nice. Removing the toilet was a really good move, everyone thinks it's kind of weird nowadays without a doubt, I don't think people get much use out of it and I have a feeling that almost anyone would prefer to use a shared restroom at the end of the car like the Superliner roomettes have.

      Except those of us in the older crowd who have to wake up in the middle of the night to pee. Nice to have a toilet in the room so you don’t have to get dressed, walk down the hall, and hope it will be empty/clean/unstinky. If I get a roomette without a toilet I will seriously consider using the sink as a urinal in the middle of the night.

    Great video! both are adorables. I traveled from Montreal to NYC by Amtrak a long time ago in the old route through New Haven, leaving Montreal in the afternoon an having breakfast with the sun rising with NYC skyline in your window. Was a great experience, I didn't have to fight for the lower bed (I was alone! haha). Hi from Argentina

      Freight trains are king on America's freight railroads which own almost all of the tracks and employ the train dispatchers... The dispatchers know who puts butter on their bread, it isn't Amtrak...

    Looks like fun. Are you aware you can book the ADA room that is the largest room ever on Amtrak as long its in the newer car Viewliner II cars. You can call 800 number and ask for ADA room as long its available 14 days before your trip. I always book that room because its the largest room. Way comfortable and it has private toliet/shower in it.... Glad you had fun and look forward to more your videos coming ahead. The bedroom you saw that has blue colors, these are older cars called VI, your are in the newer cars called VII. These VI cars will be phased out starting next year and they are trying to replace all VI cars into VII so every route will have VII cars only for eastern US routes. The west coast routes will be next in 2-3 years.

      Amfleet I cars are being phased out with new Siemens Venture coaches, but the Amfleet II cars and all of the Viewliner cars, both I and II, are continuing in service as are the Superliner cars. However, the Amfleet Ii cars and Superliner cars entire fleet are being refurbished, long overdue... Amtrak though does wish to buy new cars to replace the Amfleet II cars and Superliner cars, but has yet to receive funding to do so... Amtrak does expect to refurbish the Viewliner I cars though soon...

    I took the Lakeshore Limited and California Zephyr across the country back in 2017. It's a unique experience, seeing the country in a way you simply can't while flying over it. It's a shame you didn't get the full dining car experience; Amtrak's holding on to that COVID excuse for far too long. I got locked out of my roomette, too, on the Zephyr. I don't know if it's different for the new Viewliners, but the catch for the lock on the Superliners is supposed to be spring-loaded to prevent that from happening. It's hard not to feel like an idiot when you have to explain what happened to the room attendant.

    Riding Amtrak is a great way to see America, not fly over it. There is much more to this country than Times Square, Hollywood, and Disneyland. I recommend tourists to have a day's layover somewhere on their long journeys in a small town's B&B within walking distance of the train depot. There are hundreds to choose from, pick one. EXPERIENCE America, not just see it... I have the same recommendations for a tourist visiting Europe, spend a day at any of the small towns to fully EXPERIENCE Europe, frankly the world... For example, Rimini in Italy or Whitby in the UK... There is more to the UK than London and likewise with Italy than Rome...

    Amtrak: Please restore Dining Car service on all overnight trains East of the Mississippi and train your Cafe-Car attendants how to prepare a proper Cocktail. I don't enjoy paying $20 to have the ingredients thrown into a cardboard box then shoved at me by the attendant... Very tacky!

    Hello, I just came across your video as I am approximately 5 minutes in and I must correct something that has become a BIG MYTH with visitors. FIrst, I want to mention that I am a local... born and breed in New Orleans so I know a fact versus not when I come across one. You mentioned in this point in your video that you were told by an Uber driver (who definitely is/was not from New Orleans as you would have not be told this if he/she were) that all burial grave sites are ABOVE GROUND!! THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! I am not going to go into the actual numbers, percentages and/or reasons why some cemeteries have above, below ground or both burial options, but they are quite a few burial sites in New Orleans in which the method is below ground... including everyone that has passed in my immediate family. I hate when people are told this especially when it is NOT THE TRUTH! With everything in life, I believe that if you do not know the truth about any fact or situation, you should not make up a story! With that, I will continue to enjoy your video as I do not believe that I will come across any other myths pertaining to my city. In this point in the video, you are in New Orleans East parallel to Lake Pontchartrain which you are about to cross. (I hope you did not tip your Uber driver, lol)
