I used to own one of these babies. I loved it. I bought it while I was stationed in Okinawa Japan in 1981. By the time I got it back to the states with me in 1983 it was having all kinds of issues. There was a pioneer repair faculty and they fixed it 2-3 times. It kept breaking so I had to give it up. It was costing too much money to repair. I came upon your video completely by accident. Hadn’t heard those familiar machine sounds in over 40 years! Wow. I’d love to have one again. I still have just about all of my cassette tapes from way back in the 1980s. Thanks for posting this video. Really took me back.
Hammy Technoid now that’s really cool 😎. You know I also had a pioneer receiver amplifier that I bought along with the CTF1250 but I cannot for the life of me remember the model name. It kept blowing out switching transistors in the power supply. They just kept over heating. Ironically I was a radio repairman in the Marines but had NO idea of how to fix an over heating problem. I worked on mostly power supplies to microwave surveillance gear as a civilian but couldn’t fix a godamned stereo receiver. 😂
Hammy Technoid I couldn’t stop wondering and I did a google photo search. The unit was a Pioneer SX-D5000 stereo receiver amplifier. I just might repurchase through EBay. What’s your thoughts on that item?
@@Cookefan59 I found some info on HiFiEngine.com and it looks like a nice integrated amp. 80 watts per channel would be adequate for high efficiency speakers.
Nice, most decks just need cleaning and new belts and they’re fine. In some cases they need some more tlc. Glad that this one can go on playing tapes. Nice job sir!
Hi. I have a Pioneer CT-F1250. But the direct drive motor does not work for me, the one that pulls the tape with the roller. From your experience, what could be the reason for this dysfunction? I am not electronic, but I am curious and I do the basic maintenance of cleaning and belt changes. I appreciate the concept.
That would have been the one labeled "Audio-Gasm". However, shortly after, the idler belt split in half, so I need to go back in and replace that one. Stay tuned for more. Thanks for watching!

So glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching. I was stationed at Taegu South Korea in 1983. I still have gear I purchased while there.

Thanks for this inspiring video. Today my CT F-1250 was raised form the dead after at least ten years! A little tricky, but achievable. :-)
You're very welcome. I want to be helpful to fellow audio enthusiasts and gear heads. May the tape deck shine for many more years.

Did you ever make the 3rd video of the completed restoration?

I have my 1250 in for a service. The belts have almost melted. Bit of a mess.
Hi, I would like, if possible, an information, the potentiometer does not work, you could give me an idea, thank you
