ah out my way i see. enjoy the heat and the finest skeets newfoundland has to offer. :p. you can get into the old WW2 bunkers (though you're not supposed to) at fort Amherst there across from signal hill. get up there from the south side of the harbor. can be dangerous if you don't watch your step though.

I was thinking of Newfoundland on July 1st, for the solemn Memorial Day. The history of July 1, 1916 at Beaumont-Hamel still saddens me every time I read about it or think about it.
From what I've read, the loss of so many young men in the Great War had a devastating impact on Newfoundland well into the 1930s and beyond, because of so many lost in that earlier generation.
