I've always used mineral spirits to remove decal and label adhesive and turpentine to remove dried tree sap from cars, trucks ect; I hope it will work on that adhesive as well. My neighbors cars adhesive has turned green. Will be working on it this weekend. I also use plasic razor blades to lift the vinyl along with the heat gun.

I use a hairdryer to heat up the guard and peel it off in one swipe.......clean with adhesive remover, install new one with slip solution/rubbing alcohol for edges....

I need to remove the bra from Kathy's 2015 Lexus! It is turning dark around the edges and lifting where there are compound curves. Thanks for the video!

I watched one for a Porsche 911 and he used a steam gun but said you can't do it that way if the car had been resprayed, as the paint will lift off. My Porsche Cayman (2010) hasn't been repainted, but the adhesive is getting foggy under the film. I can rub the film with a microfiber towel and it becomes clear again for a little while and it's time to try your method out. Supposedly there is a new generation of film that doesn't have this affliction and I will be applying some of that to my car. My car only see's the sun while I'm driving or washing it.

I have a silver 350z and this stuff looks horrible, it's cracked and looks moldy, will this still work or do u think I'll have to get it painted afterwards?

where did you get the replacement and what’s it called? i’ve search “stone guard”, “stone protector”, “rear panel protective film” and everything else I could think of. All that keeps coming up is this video. Thanks

I did not replace it. I don't think it is really needed.

Good video. If you soaked a paper towel with the Goo Gone, and then taped it over the adhesive for a few minutes, would it soften the adhesive without damaging the paint?
Also, just curious, why does it appear that the paint inside your door jambs is whiter than the rest of the car? Has it been repainted, or did the paint just change colors that much? Not a big deal, just wondering.

Thanks! Goo Gone won't soften the plastic so that won't work as it would need to go through the plastic to break down the adhesive.
The car has not been painted. It is a pearl white so the light and the angle is likely throwing everything off.

@@jamie.andrews good point, but I actually meant after the plastic was removed, as a way to soften the remaining adhesive. Thanks

You must live where they salt the roads. That would need to be sanded and painted.
