hey there :D Splits are parts or segments of the game when you do speedruns :) For example: If your game has 5 levels, your splits would be Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 that way you can see your pace on your current attempt and compare it to another attempt or the world record :)
