I'm playing the original ROM in BSNES untranslated as the existing english patch has questionable changes to the script, so this run is a blessing. I'm currently up to 36:40 for so, in that i've bought the axe for Cress, and it's so, so powerful. Beside the point though; thank you so much for this run, it's helping me enjoy the game myself. I don't know most of the plotlines, i'm just glad to be able to enjoy the gameplay. EDIT: Never mind. Don't know how to use the Holy Bottle properly for the rocks shortly after.
You simply use the Holy Bottle just before interacting with the rocks - in that screen in particular, you will not get into any encounters anymore. Once you switch screens to the next one, there will be encounters again after 255 steps
@@DonYagamoth I've learned that about the holy bottle, yes. As for the rocks in my way, I simply had to buy a pickaxe. The caves are giving me trouble now however, particularly the red-tinted one. I encounter an enemy with a whip sort of weapon that overpowers my party, which is on average Level 13 or so. Even Cress with his axe cannot deal damage with standard attacks, and I can't kill it using technique spamming. Would I just simply use a Holy Bottle to avoid any chances of encountering it and risking a game over?
@@shootingstar7101 Yes - that enemy is not meant to be defeated, as it is way too strong (You technically can defeat it, but it only gives like 1 EXP, and that's it). So running away with L or R is the way to go, if you ever encounter one. So you want to try and avoid it as much as possible
A large portion of the team that worked on this game went on to create Star Ocean for the SNES and then subsequent titles. So it makes sense ^^ I do have a bunch of notes here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JZK7H5LYZT_5IkjD-5gf0f1s2HTOWahMBaxD0T3lcS4/edit?usp=sharing It's not the greatest to learn the run, but I think in conjunction with seeing the run here it should be sufficient. You can potentially check out the RPGLB Marathon run for more in depth commentary
Hi! Thanks for the video. I'm just wondering: how do you make Cress deal so much damage ?! I was surprised from Jahmir already ? What is the trick ? I had also taken the Mecha-Halbert but I'm still far behind in damage output.
The trick is, that my Cross is likely higher level than what you'd expect, since I funneled all the experience into him alone. Aside from that, it's using the "Flare Bottle" and the +10% physical damage accessory in order to improve the damage, alongside the Mecha Halberd and Tiger Blade
I never really had the patience to fully watch a round based RPG run, but you commentating is awesome so I had a great time :D

Thank you for this, this game is so important to me, I took like 2 weeks to finish it xD but it was a lot of fun
Nice run!
The main character looks so much like Claude from Star Ocean 2! I was wondering if you have any speedrun notes for this game that I could use?

Hmm alright. I'll be more mindful of all that. Thanks!
is there a tas of this game to your knowledge?
There is a TAS, but it's on Nicovideo (Basically the Japanese TH-cam)
Are you actively running this?
Not currently, no
Why Origin has bugged?
I don't know - it just does that weird effect on some backgrounds o.o
in english please , not japanese 🇺🇸
